Much love and respect to Bishop Barron and Ben Shapiro. Growing up in the Catholic faith the way I did, I was taught to understand that we must have the utmost respect for the Jewish people because Jesus was a Jew, and we believe he is the Messiah foretold by our Jewish spiritual ancestors. Bearing that in mind, in order for me to understand and love Jesus, I had to learn about the Jews, understand, and love the Jewish people, even if they don't believe in Jesus as the Messiah. They are our spiritual brothers and sisters with the God of Abraham as our Father. I feel very blessed to be part of that family.
I don't know what Ben's own sense of the value of Christianity is for him, but he at least will listen seriously to what Christians have to say, and not immediately swat it away.
Well, this girl is on fire ! Thank you both , these discussions are incredible , helpful, and beyond exciting. I can’t get enough of such dialogue. Peace , light , and tons of love .
For me, as a Christian (and an ordained minister), loving God and Jesus, means loving and standing with all my Jewish friends and Israel, especially since October 7 and the ongoing war against all terrorists.
I think this goes both ways; it is fundamental to understand Jesus in light of the Old Testament Judaism. At the same time Judaism itself is devoid of its purpose without looking at the figure of Jesus of Nazareth, who is in every way further above the prophets of the Old Testament, Jesus whose Jewish roots are being discussed here because He was a Jew and did deeds beyond the prophets of Judaism of old. If John the Baptist was the greatest man and Jesus was already above him, what more do you expect in Judaism if Jesus is to be not anything of importance? You would only stay forever thinking that human religious works would somehow bring down heaven, compelling it, from its place, and to wait for a national messiah that "saves" Israel from its political and sovereign-state enemies.
I feel bad for those who won’t watch simply because someone they don’t like is in it. I thought it was a good conversation and I learned from it (such as Marcionism in the 2nd century and how it’s still persisting and how Old Testament is connected to the nativity story).
2 Corinthians 1 20For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.
I recently heard from a Catholic priest friend of mine whose father passed away that when he was organising the funeral mass , his sister refused to accept the hymn ‘O come o come Emmanuel’ because of the lines that mention Israel. Wokeism in Christianity is no longer at the gates but sadly within its walls. The heart of Catholic faith is the Eucharist, which does not make an iota of sense without Israel
This is so important for all Christian’s to understand. The level of antisemitism we are seeing after the attack of Hamas on Israel is so disappointing and disturbing. Thank you Bishop Barron for speaking out.
@@mrjohn125 Actually incorrect. While it is acknowledged that Abraham is our father in faith, it was Jacob, who was named Israel, the father of the 12 tribes who became the nation oIsreal under King David. Bishop Barron and all clergy ought to interact with EMJ's work. A faithful Catholic who has really done the legwork on this topic (the JQ) and dedicated his life to it (being canceled for it). Was St. Paul (a jew) an antisemite when he said (1 Thess 2:14-16)? Was St. John the beloved Apostle (also a jew) an antisemite (Rev 2:9, 3:9)? What is an antisemite? When did this term come into existence? Who gets to decide who is an antisemite? Were the Apostles antisemites when they gathered in the cenacle (John 20:19)? Ought not Nostra Aetate be read in light of the Church's tradition? Was St. John Chrysostom Church Doctor and author of Adversus Judaeos, an antisemite?
We always watch Die Hard! But kidding aside, when Jesus was missing from the caravan, and was found by Joseph and Mary in the Jerusalem temple, his comment was, “Did you not know that I must be about my Father’s business?” Another translation reads, “Did you not know that I must be in the house of my Father?” Later, “Zeal for Your house consumes me.” Catholicism can never be separated fro the “Apple” of His eye. Otherwise, it becomes Protestantism in so many ways.
I love Jewish people. I'm Ashkenazi by blood (not by much) on my dads side though he's not practicing cause he's catholic. no one that's currently alive in my family is practicing Judaism. But my point in bring that up is to hate Jewish people is to hate my own blood. So I'm definitely against any antisemitism and my heart breaks seeing it so prominent right now. But at the same time I know people who are affected on both sides of this conflict going between Israel and Gaza. And there's been a uptick in anti-Muslim hate too. Both sides are suffering because of a terrorist group. And that's not even going into how many people are dying in the conflict. There's a lot of people and families there who don't want war. And I feel like their cries for help are getting swept under the rug while our media is pushing propaganda to make all of us hate each other. I don't have an answer for this and I love everyone. But I really wish someone would do something to try and talk peace.
With all due respect for your good attitude this conflict did not start on Oct. 7th but in 1948 with the ethnic cleansings. Until the Israelis come to the table and are ready to acknowledge the Palestinians as human beings there wont be peace unfortunately. No people and no blood is more valuable than another! We have to speak up against hate and nationalism wherever it comes from then this conflict will be solvable. However we don't seem to hold Israel accountable to adhere to western values at all
We must first define "Judaise". Because the "Judaism" as seen today is not the Judaism Moses left. It's no more the "Sinai Judaism" as taught by Moses, but the "rabbinic Judaism" as taught by the rabbis through the Talmud. 1:00 "when we de-Judaise Christianity, it turns into a kind of gnostic philosophy". That's correct. But let's not forget, that "when we in-Judaise Christianity, it turns into a kind of rabbinic philosophy".

So inspiring and uplifting - you have made Christmas more meaningful for me. From henceforth I shall think of myself as a spiritual Semite. To be a Christian we must stand with our Jewish brothers and sisters
To be a true Christian one must stand with all brothers and sisters from all faiths, just like the good Samaritan. If you see a Muslim in great trouble and nothing moves inside of you or you manage to blame him for his own trouble, you can't claim to be a true christian. when you see Christians, people who share the same faith with you being killed inside a church and manage to support their murderers, you definitely can't claim to be a true christian. as a middle eastern christian I add my voice to the pastor of the Lutheran church of Bethlehem we are not to be lectured on human rights, freedom or morality from western people never again.

Thank you for this: It's so important to revisit the concept of the Messiah every Advent season for both Jew and Gentile. For so many people the concept has lost its relevancy. For instance what does the concept of the Messiah mean to a Jewish believer living in the United States today? In theory the believer doesn't really need a political messiah any more. The U.S. is better armed than any of its rivaling nations -- unlike olden-day Israel which was for two thousand years essentially controlled at various times by Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persian, Greece and Rome. Where does that leave the Christian?

Antisemitism is also a denial of Christ. We are called to love . Every time I meet a Jew I feel honoured and humbled because I know our Lord came from their line. Thank you to Ben who will talk to his Christian friends with kindness and respect even though we differ. Respect.

Thank you Bishop Barron 🙏🏽🎄🎅🏼
Ben, thank you for giving your audience knowledge of the crucial importance and inextricable links of Judaism in the OT to Christianity.
I don't know what Ben's own sense of the value of Christianity is for him, but he at least will listen seriously to what Christians have to say, and not immediately swat it away.
He thinks Christians should be slaves. It's literally in his holy book.
Kudos to Ben for inviting him! I eagerly await his conversion!
Merry Christmas to you both.
Well, this girl is on fire ! Thank you both , these discussions are incredible , helpful, and beyond exciting. I can’t get enough of such dialogue. Peace , light , and tons of love .
So valuable and enlightening!
Well said. The Bishop had mentioned that in other interviews.
You guys both rock! I’m grateful to be able to watch and listen to the both of you! God Bless!
Amen. May God Bless All of our Holy Priests.
Great interview with Bishop Barron!
I feel bad for those who won’t watch simply because someone they don’t like is in it. I thought it was a good conversation and I learned from it (such as Marcionism in the 2nd century and how it’s still persisting and how Old Testament is connected to the nativity story).
Very important.
2 Corinthians 1
20For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.
Ask Ben about the talmud.
Great talk!!!
Thank you, favorites both. God bless you
I recently heard from a Catholic priest friend of mine whose father passed away that when he was organising the funeral mass , his sister refused to accept the hymn ‘O come o come Emmanuel’ because of the lines that mention Israel.
Great interview, Seeing Ben Shapiro saying “Merry Christmas “ was special…
Your Excellency I am astounded by your vastness knowledge about the Christianity faith
Christianity is grafted to the root of Judaism. Bishop Barron is a wonderful teacher. Pax Christi
@@mrjohn125 Actually incorrect. While it is acknowledged that Abraham is our father in faith, it was Jacob, who was named Israel, the father of the 12 tribes who became the nation oIsreal under King David.
Abraham fathered a son from Hagar (the maid-servant) who was named Ishmael, whereas God blessed Sarah, Abrahams wife who was barren, at the age of 90 to give birth to Issac; and through Issac would the descendants of Abraham be known.
Pax Christi
@@mrjohn125 I have limited knowledge of theological commonalities between Judaism and Islam - this podcast was about Judaism and Christianity.
Merry Christmas Ben and Bishop Barron. God bless🙏
Excellent. Just wish Ben would crack a smile more often when he talks to the Bishop.
Ben's video is pre recorded, and the bishop was reacring to the recording
So much intelligence in 9 minutes, I love BB and respect his great mind.....Ben Shapiro, I am just getting to know him. Excellent discussion!
Gracias Ben y gracias Obispo Barron. ❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏💯
I can’t believe two of my favorites on one show
Love you both thank you
THANK YOU BISHOP BARRON🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you Bishop Barron 🙏
Great interview 👍
Bring in Jimmy Akin
Beautifully displayed bishop Barron ..
I’m sure Ben Saphiro will embrace the Christian catholic faith one day 🙏⚡️⚡️🎄.
Blessings blessings ..
I love Ben. Great conversation.
Love this!
Thanks.
Ben has a lot to loose if he becomes a believer. But he is interested. Bless him Lord
No Ben loses nothing in the process. He just accepts that his Messiah came. You need to listen to Roy Schoeman.
Ben a Jew, said merry Christmas; that is respect.
The fake Catholics that say happy holidays instead of merry Christmas make me nausea.
He respects Christians only when they send money to him and Israel. By respect I mean manipulate.
In my years in New York working with the JCC, almost every Jew I knew loved Christmas and the us observants during the Hanukkah/Christmas season. My ex demanded to go see the the Tree and the Toyshops back in '12.
If you see a Muslim in great trouble and nothing moves inside of you or you manage to blame him for his own trouble, you can't claim to be a true christian. when you see Christians, people who share the same faith with you being killed inside a church and manage to support their murderers, you definitely can't claim to be a true christian. as a middle eastern christian I add my voice to the pastor of the Lutheran church of Bethlehem we are not to be lectured on human rights, freedom or morality
from western people never again.
@@paulinahellen2477when you side yoirself with hamas and jihadist ideologies you cant claim to be a christian. if you were true faithful to the book you would know who the land belonged to decread by god
@@polpol2739 No I don't side with Hamas, I'm a middle eastern christian and everyone knows how we suffered from Islamic extremism and terrorism while the western world including Christians where silent, you don't expect me to side with terrorism and that's why I can't side with Israel too because they are worse than Hamas, I'm faithful to Christ only, and that's why I say the truth that this land was inhabited by Palestinians for thousands of years and if Israelis have any claims to the land still this doesn't justify their horrible crimes against our dear Palestinian brothers and sisters
@@polpol2739 and by the way if you are racist enough that you're unable to show sympathy unless someone like you is hurt I'll remind you that among Palestinians many Christians were murdered by Israel. I don't know, I feel I'm wasting my time here, you're all stone hearted and apathetic, I don't really expect anything humane from you, I'm only shocked and disappointed that you still call yourselves Christians.
@@paulinahellen2477 you dont side with christ. because you just stated the false claims that "palestinains inhabited the land for thousands of years". show me that in the bible - chapter and verse
Profound interview, I would love to hear these 2 talk about God from both perspectives. So interesting and God's word first and foremost.
@christineflores8599
Do you think the other guy is a Rabbi?
If I understand your question, no Bishop Barron is a Catholic and I love how respectful they both were to each other!
@@reneerochon2437
Are you responding to my question? There aren't others.
@@therealong yes, as I said, I wasn’t sure if you were asking Christine if they mistakenly thought the bishop is a Rabbi or if you were wondering yourself if he is a Rabbi, so I hope I wasn’t offensive, Merry Christmas
@@reneerochon2437
I see. The problem is with the tagging, someone gets tagged (as you were in my reply), others don't. I usually "copy&paste" the person's name, as to indicate whom I'm answering to, but I didn't here, because I was the only one that replied.
Why didn't my name appear in your comment? Which "Reply" did you click?
Ben getting Eucharist-pilled 😌
Bishop Barron is so awesome, thank you for having him on Ben!
As it is written:
"For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever."
Amen!
Hope Ben finds Jesus!
You are crazy to assume that is even a possibility for a Zionist like him, cmon
Thank you for this: It's so important to revisit the concept of the Messiah every Advent season for both Jew and Gentile. For so many people the concept has lost its relevancy. For instance what does the concept of the Messiah mean to a Jewish believer living in the United States today? In theory the believer doesn't really need a political messiah any more. The U.S. is better armed than any of its rivaling nations -- unlike olden-day Israel which was for two thousand years essentially controlled at various times by Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persian, Greece and Rome. Where does that leave the Christian?
Can't wait to hear his views on fiducia supplicans.
Is there going to be an episode on Christian Antisemitism?
Two great men of faith. Fans of both.
Ben smile happy xmas
❤Kinda short? But with All do respect, sure hope you two have plans to continue the discussion. It was getting real good. 😊 Thanks 🎉 Ben 👍 Great show and Great Bishop
Had you popped your popcorn in vain?
👍👍👍Excellency!
very informative
I TRUST YOU LORD. Please give me strength to get through this Christmas. I’m holding on and keeping faith. I keep faith even as I constantly struggle to provide for my kids and I constantly struggle to buy groceries. My husband is with you God. At times I feel so alone especially as a single mom. Since suffering a heart attack two years ago and my on going battle with lupus I’m overwhelmed. Both of my sons are autistic. I’m now homeschooling them so my hours to work are limited. Thankfully I have you Lord Jesus. Please continue to give me strength. ❤
God Bless you and give you fortitude and blessings this Christmas and always
God bless you and help you.
❤
I like how Bishop Barron totally failed to acknowledge Ben’s comment about traditional Catholics being the defenders of the church.
Antisemitism is also a denial of Christ. We are called to love . Every time I meet a Jew I feel honoured and humbled because I know our Lord came from their line.
I’ve heard it said that the Jews and the Romans killed Jesus. NO. It was the sin of the world he took on his body to be the last sacrifice needed for mankind. He laid down his life and picked it up again of his own will to save Jew and Gentile.
To my Jewish friends. Your
G-d reigns.
Thank you to Ben who will talk to his Christian friends with kindness and respect even though we differ. Respect.
Read gitten 57A of the Talmud says ab Jesus the Nazarene and Haaretz’s article about whether or not the Virgin Mary was really a virgin.
So slavish. Repulsive.
Outstanding
So looking for too this.
"DNA studies do not indicate that separate classifiable subspecies (races) exist within modern humans. While different genes for physical traits such as skin and hair color can be identified between individuals, no consistent patterns of genes across the human genome exist to distinguish one race from another. There also is no genetic basis for divisions of human ethnicity."
-Human Genome Project
However, the ethos of the past, embodied by the Pharisees who opposed and had Christ killed, persists in the form of Rabbinic Judaism and, directly or indirectly, much of Jewish culture today.
I believe its a good study to highlight tĥe total study of the historical Jewish Jesus. Unfortunately, we don't all know. God bless. The scandal of the cross as we know, appears, without the full story.
