Thank you for the best tutorial I could find on braiding,Now it’s time to practice!😘(now I am going to start braiding for shows it looks more simple than I thought:)
practice and see what looks good. That separator thing is great though, I have been using it for years. Sometimes with a shorter neck if you do more braids you can give the illusion on a longer neck :)
great video for the forelock! I finally get how to finish it off :) I just about gagged when you said you do 40 + braids for a horse!!! I do 12-15 max!! hahaha but I also event and usually do ball/knot braids, I can see how the hunters would frown on my braids.
@earlysunriserider Yes, we do sell the bracelets and plates at Greenhawk, they are made by Tory Leather. Call your local Greenhawk to see if they offer engraving!
could you do a tutorial on how to take them out ? and how to tame the horses mane to go on one side? also like a "how to prepare our horses tail for a show?" please
For a horse with a very thick mane and short neck, how many braids would you do, ive been pulliing it all winter to thin it out, which has worked but its still thick, and my braids cant be to wide or else their to thick
Now the braids that you made are for Hunter/Jumpers right? Or am I completly wrong? I'm showing this season and my friend is going to do my horse's braids. I want to make sure I send her the right video. Thanks
how do you make your horses mane different colours, like, what sort of products do you use, how long do you leave them in and what do you use to separate the mane and tail from the rest of the coat?
All of the product in this video are available from Greenhawk. The Braiding Hook can be found in all of our stores, or online (the link is in the description above)
It's easy! You know where she tied it in the middle of the braid, if you snip that with some scissors, the braid itself will fall out into the tails that you started with. Then just cut the knot at the bottom of the braid and unwind the braid. (:
olivia chine Really late but when you braid, only braid as long as you would if the mane was cut short. Put a rubber band around it / tie it off when you reach that length, and when you pull the bottom of the braid through the top, leave the unbraided hair loose through the back. When you go to do your next braid, leave the middle section thinner than the other two, and combine the leftover hair from the last braid into the current braid's middle section. Then you just repeat until you finish the mane. It's kinda hard to explain in text lol but I hope I helped somewhat.
welll i do hacking (thats what we do in australia) and i sew in my plaits and we usaually dont have that man y braids i have a show tommorow! and we shave the top of there tails, ears, wiskers, socks and bridle paths we and the horse have to llok perfect to go on the show ring!
I would also like a tutorial on how to keep your nails that perfect when you are working with horses, amazing!
I was thinking the same thing!
Lol.. Impossible
Haha! Not gonna happen.
this is the most informative braiding video i have ever watched. thank you.
This is the best video ever!!! I feel very confident about braiding my horse's mane this year!!
Thank you!!! This is the best braiding video you will ever find. So helpful!!!! Love the pony BTW!!
I was debating on doing hunter braids (I never braid when I go to shows, but I'm going to start doing it) but this looks so much easier!
I'm trying to learn how to braid and I watch this now every chance I get
oh my gosh, u made it so easy for me to understand and i did it on my horse and it looks AMAZING! ur video helped a lot :)
Good close-ups, videographer! Best braiding video I've seen on RUclips.

Bless you for this tutorial! I'm going to my first dressage show tomorrow and was having such a hard time figuring out the banding.
Good luck for your show!
finally a good video!!! beautiful horse, so much help!!
Cute Pony,
Very good tips and reminders!
Most tack stores have them! but greenhawk sells them for sure
Great video! :D Beautiful little pony too :)
Best braiding video ever!
I love this video it is really easy to follow! :)
that pony!!! sooo cutee!
i love the bridle plate on your braceltte do they make them at greenhawk. like the whole thing?
Omg, you are so sweet! Thanx for the tutorial :D
That wouldn't be as ideal, but it is possible. If your horse has a thick neck, make smaller braids, if it has a skinnier neck, thicker braids
It's a latch hook. You can buy those at craft stores, too.

Omg lol Becky works at LTS were I ride
yes it is
you should see my horses forelock, i'm just going to roll it in a ball and hope for the best. I think he has like 20 hairs
Literally same my ponys forelock is so small and thin! I just braid it loosely and hope for the best
could you do a tutorial on how to take them out ? and how to tame the horses mane to go on one side? also like a "how to prepare our horses tail for a show?" please
Hi Emily, yes these braids are for Hunter / Jumper.
Could you please link the supplies you use! Where did u get the quick braid and what else could you use
For a horse with a very thick mane and short neck, how many braids would you do, ive been pulliing it all winter to thin it out, which has worked but its still thick, and my braids cant be to wide or else their to thick
can i use this tipe of braiding for show jumping???????
at greenhawk...but you can use a very big needle or make your own with wire
Instead of quick braid spray can I use water and conditioner?
when you put the wool into the braid, is it folded in half?
Yes
Now the braids that you made are for Hunter/Jumpers right? Or am I completly wrong? I'm showing this season and my friend is going to do my horse's braids. I want to make sure I send her the right video.
Thanks
do you have to put the bump
i've only got elastic bands for my show!!!!! will it be the same? i dont have wool or clips either! D:
How do you take it out afterwards?
Very helpful! Thank you
Can you keep a forelock braid in overnight?
Yes
It would have really helped to have the yarn a different color like red or green or blue so it is easier to see.
Awesome
How the heck do you get those out
TheSparklyAG Seam ripper.
how do you make your horses mane different colours, like, what sort of products do you use, how long do you leave them in and what do you use to separate the mane and tail from the rest of the coat?
Really late but she didn't dye it its natural because it's a paint horse.
do u have to use yarn? I've tried yarn before and it all got knotted up and I just gave up. any tips on how to do it with a rubber band??
You don't have to use the bumper thing that pulls the yarn through. I used a crochet hook and it worked just as good
I was thinking the same thing!
Where do u get that puller thing that u attach the yarn to to make the braid?
It's Beautiful :)
BECKY!!!!! ( thats my ex coach 😂😂😂👌)
Can I do less because at my barn you have to have no less than 10 but no more than 20
What halter is rosie wearing?:)
You can do as many as needed
I'VE RIDDEN THAT HORSE HOLY LOOL
XD
YOU RIDE AT IRON HORSE!?
I RODE HER LIKE YEARS AGO WHEN SHE WAS AT BERTIN STABLES, I'm currently at LTS across the street
Same
where did you get your pull through?? (: (:
was braiding string works better i find :)
For a sec I’m like that looks like Rosie. Than you said iron horse and I’m like aww Rosie
I don't have a pull through braiding hook so I was wondering if a crochet hook would work ok for it?
LiLai I actually prefer a crochet hook
where do you get one of those pull through pin things from?thanks :)
I got mine from Amazon just go there and search horse braiding pullthroughs
All of the product in this video are available from Greenhawk. The Braiding Hook can be found in all of our stores, or online (the link is in the description above)
Please reply anyone I haven't done it yet but how do u get it out

Thank tou
What if your mane is super long?
Kinda late but you have to pull it if you want to braid it
also kind of late but make sure it’s pretty thin when you cut and then pull

You dont make your horse mane diffrent colors Its just the color of the horse...
