    Thank you. I did the swap today and saved about $2400. I then took apart the old coupler to see what the issue was with the existing diff. I broke the seal on the coupler and water poured out. I found the factory seal was very insufficient. I could see where the water leaked into the diff and caused the bearing to fail. Thank for the information on the repair.

      There’s a bulletin out there for water entering through the vent hose in the right real wheel well. I doubt it was the seal between the coupler and diff

    Thank you for this video. I’m considering doing this for the same vehicle. How the fix performed over the past years? How many additional miles did you get from the car before selling or if the part failed again? Again, thanks for the good video. I can fix alot of auto problems but I wouldn’t have considered this if I hadn’t found this video. Subscribed, liked, and watched through to the end twice already.

    I'm getting this whirring noise that gets louder the faster you go - it kind of matches wheel speed... bearings are all new, and CV axles are solid... main driveshaft has very rusted support bearings - that could be possible source...?
    Also the car has winter tires on from the time it was purchased - could that be the noise? It gets quite loud and audible.. There are no clunks.

    • @ikajeiOFFICIAL
      @ikajeiOFFICIAL  3 года назад +3

      The main reasons for the replacement was grinding noise which you can hear from the beginning of the video al the way do 0:17 and yes the noise was in the differential all the time.

      @@ikajeiOFFICIAL thanks so much for the reply. My wife had a 2014 CX-5 I’ve been trying to diagnose a noise in the rear end. It’s a squeak that happens when turning right from the rear and I’m trying to locate it. I’ve already replaced both rear struts with no luck. I’m thinking it could be the diff or a wheel bearing. Hey Jei, Nice video..Pretty straight to the point! I have a relevant question tho! since the main reason why u swapped the diff is the noise ( Having the same issue here and i can hear it coming from the coupler ) Why didnt you start by changing Just the coupler first (PA# KEY0-27-97X) since thats the only spinning part connected to the Differential unit! did u? ( Just ordered one..awaiting delivery ) will post an update once i get it...

      I drove my CX5 around 100 miles with that noise. But before go for differential replacement I would recommend to double check where is the noise coming from. Because it could be wheel bearing which sometimes has very identical sound. Also, double check level of differential fluidin your rear differential because that may cause noise too.
