In this video, DC Snares creator, Davide Carbone, walks you through what DC Snares has to offer.
DC’s Snare Production Method Made Easy
Drum and bass producers have become familiar with David Carbone’s revolutionary Drum and Bass Masterclass pack; call up sounds quickly, accentuate the rattle and wires of a snare, combine live and electronic sources, add a huge reverb with a gate. Now these methods and tools used by DC are combined into a refined workflow and dedicated plugin, creating the freedom to make unique snares for any genre.
Not Just any Randomiser
Algorithmically human Randomiser which also auto-generates a name based on content. Create bespoke snares, hits and soundscapes with endless permutations - in an instant.
Four Customisable Sound Slots
Four customisable sound slots allow you to select from the 684 internal samples, drag and drop your own samples, load up a synth engine or auto-populate with the randomiser to layer sounds. Each sound slot has its own adjustable amp and pitch envelope, inviting producers to further customise their sounds.
Pitch and Amp Envelopes with Real Time Display
Quickly reshape your sounds by altering the pitch or adjusting your audio envelopes, and see the waveform update in real time both for each sound slot, as well as overall. The waveform display updates in real-time when adding or adjusting the internal FX, allowing for complete visual control of your snare experimentation.
Twelve Proprietary Insert and Master FX Slots
The custom-made FX are a big part of what makes DC Snares unique, replicating a typical FX chain used by Davide Carbone in his design process. The ‘Sizzler’ is a world first that replicates how a room responds to the rattle of a snare, while the ‘Resonator’ and ‘Transient Shaper’ are specifically made to suit snare creation. Any of these effects can be easily reordered for maximum impact.
Playable Performance Engine
DC Snares thrives as a live instrument. Utilising a MIDI controller or the internal keyboard, pitch snares up or down, and create powerful rolls using note divisions.
Assignable Modulation Envelopes
Four mappable envelopes and hundreds of parameters ensure total flexibility and endless possibilities within your sound design.
There are no other decent snare vst’ that exist. It’s about time. This guy is thankful.
7 deadly snares from Beatsurfing is quite good too.
@@-zoave- It's funny that plugin is created by Beatsurfing. Just like their Random plugin, 7DS has a slick UI but usability and work flow lends itself to more of a toy to keep someone busy. The UI is beautiful in each but I've yet to hear an example of great results that trump faster methods
This is the best straightforward plug-in to come out in a while
Congrats Davide & Team for the release of yet another great sound design/music making product!
every DnB producer will be all over this !
The visualization of the effects in waveform is a great feature, hard to separate a tool like this from being a me too, but this has many cool embedded and cool compact features! Nice!
Just bought it and loving it, thanks! I already have suggestions:
- I think Velocity should be a modulation source, for extra expressivity
- Could we please have a user folder (or more that one)? gonna be messy once we have hundreds of our own sample
- Randomiser is fun, could it be Midi mappable? (or implement Program Changes)
- Would be nice to be able to delete presets (this way the Randomiser would be more "curated")
- In the 'Division' section of the keyboard, when pressing 2 notes, the repetition could speed up or slow down, sort of like a portamento but for the beat divisions. This or maybe the division could be a modulation destination
Thanks @fumarolas (BTW - nice alias!) I think you should head over to the scaler forum and post your suggestions there. The feedback and suggestions are great and a few of them on the list already and will happen soon.... Thanks for supporting!
VELOCITY is an _essential_ modulation source that _should_ be available in a plugin like this!
@@griiseknoen Couldn't agree more. My initial blueprint had it as a priority feature but it got damaged along the way and needed to be removed. Will be back. Very soon!
@@davidecarbonemusic thanks, could you pass on the requests? I've been beta testing too much gear lately and trying to stay away from that for a while to focus on work :)
Let's not understate how useful that live view of the waveform is for the compression. Compression can be a slightly more challenging concept to understand, and tuning it right can be opaque. Traditional compression viewers don't necessarily help in understanding the alteration to the waveform, however the way it is presented here--live changing of the waveform itself--is far more intuitive.
Indeed. It could be a great concept to implement to any DAW's timeline
This looks great, looking forward to checking it out!
best kick drum plugin ever that also does snares
Kick 2 was and is still awesome for kicks, this one being very interesting for snares.
Looks fantastic! In version 2 please think of adding some repeat variety (let's say the snare hits 4 quick 16th notes in a fill: having the exact same sample sounds quite cheap). Also maybe velocity dependent functionality (say you want quieter notes to hit rounder). These things can add so much subtlety to samples.
Instant buy. 🎉❤
What about adding a "Drag & Drop" feature to the sample you just created? Please consider adding this for a future update. A Drag & Drop feature is a must for a plugin like this. By "Drag & Drop," I mean being able to "export" the sample out of DC Snares. Another great additional feature would be a "lock" function so that you can "lock the parameters" and the sample that you like. This way, you can keep on randomizing based on that locked sample, generating different but similar samples each time. It would be fantastic to have that as an update, and I would be more than happy to pay for an upgrade like that.
Both those were much requested features in the beta as well as since release. They will make it into one of the next updates for sure.
I think... I think, this might be my new snare plugin.
I can't get the demo 1.0 vst3 to be recognized in Reaper 7.11 Windows 11. Scan doesn't bring it up and I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it. The folder is there in Explorer, but not in Reaper. Also doesn't show up in Davinci Resolve or (I know) Audacity (just wanted to try it elsewhere).
I was literally looking for a replacement for what I believe was the best 1 shot player, Sample Magic - Stacker.
I almost ignore this because I thought it was only for snares.
…interesting.
Nice, i like it.
awesome
Let’s go!!
When for example randomize it, will it build a sound by using signals (synth) or samples or a combination of both? I just want to know what it is that I buy.
Exactly. I'm about halfway interested but I need a little more to be convinced.
The Randomisation does not include the internal synth engine at launch but it will. Generally I don’t find randomisers useful so it was really important for us to have something that sounds good for launch. I think we’ve started well and our beta team loved getting lost in the randomiser. You can turn FX on and off in the settings but apart from export audio, expanding the randomiser to incorporate the synth engine and various signal routing and FX is a priority. Try the demo it’s free and hope you like it.
It looks like a great solution. Obviously, DC Kicks next then?
I agree. If so, I realllly hope they add a phase flip switch to each layer. DC Snares could use a phase flip as well. 😀
Interesting...Is "Velocity to Pitch" / -Envelope available ?
How does it handle phase issues when drag your own samples in?
Just bought it , but only to realise … oh .. it’s only one shot samples ? No round robins to avoid those ugly machine gun effects when repeating a snare in a fill etc ?
Would be great to see RR’s especially on the acoustic snares
Nice
Fantastic, I just buy it one, but it is unusable because they crash my DAW when I load the instrument plug in DC Snare.
Hello. Sorry to hear that. We have done extensive testing, but every system is different. Can you email support@pluginboutique.com and let them know what is happening as well as the details about your DAW and computer, please? I am sure they can sort you out. - JC
@@PluginBoutiqueOfficial I already make a ticket to support, I'm waiting for a reply now, Windows 11 Nuendo 13, and on Komplete Krontrol the plug in doesn't appear in the VST List
I resolved and fix it the problem crash by install the latest version Microsoft C++ Visual studio 2015-2022 V 14.40.33810
@@filipcharvey The issue was fixed with version 1.0.1
I love it, just purchased.
However, I wasn't expecting it to be so CPU intensive. Just one instance is making my CPU monitor jump around like crazy, without playing any notes.
Watch the 'Sizzler' effect it's pretty CPU intensive which is understandable given what it does, DEVS have mentioned a refactor for next update to improve CPU efficiency.
can u drag out master audio file into the DAW?
Number one request from our beta team and the next feature on the list. It’s a deep plug and really wanted everything else perfected. Next update you will be able to drag rendered audio straight from the master waveform to the DAW. Obviously you can drag and drop into any of the sound slots no problem.
That would be the most important thing for workflow. Cool plugin im going to get it soon @davidecarbonemusic
A great complement to Big Kick, but all my drum sounds are created in Big Kick, thanks.
Would be nice if you can see the key when you shape sounds
Does it support velocity layers?
No it doesn't, one of the next updates will add velocity control of modulation and start points, we haven't considered velocity layers yet.
Is there pitch detection for user samples?
We tried this and given how many a-tonal transients are involved it’s hard to get to a point where we were satisfied with off the shelf tech. It will happen. Just needs some deeper thought and trial.
Appreciate the quick and great answer. Love your plugins. You’ve made amazing contributions to the community which have a place in every vst folder. Thank you!
I bought it and used it. It’s really CPU hungry sadly. I have and M1 16ram and I need to increase buffer size anytime I use the plugin, or else clicks and cracked. Shame, not sure I’ll keep using it cause this leases with my workflow
We have an identical setup and not experiencing that at all. The 'Sizzler' effect requires a significant amount of computational power given its complexity but aside from that it should be very CPU efficient. Please try reinstalling and restarting and if you are still having problems please report them over at our forum. Thank you.
I miss a master AMP and a copy paste option in the edit, pitch, amp section :)!! Otherwise this seems super cool!!
Just noticed you can click on the three dot menu in each sound slot and copy and past sound slots, FX and pitch and amp env!
Please provide a CLAP plugin version. Thanks!
Good idea. In the mean time, you can load your claps into DC Snares :) - JC
where is the velocity ???
Can it also export?
Record it on Edison
@@DonTheking what is that?
it crashes immediately in Cubase...Can't open it.
There was an issue with a small portion of Windows users experiencing a crash on load. This has been rectified with 1.0.1 now available under My Account at Plugin Boutique.
This issue was resolved with version 1.0.1. Please try updating.
I didn’t see any support for being able to affect parameters via velocity for those who find expressive variation important.
It's coming!! In fact the underlying mechanism is ready, but we had to focus on the most important things before release. Velocity control of parameters and start point etc will be coming in an update very soon.
1:00 bro was about to play master of puppets
Great stuff but it seems to be missing time shifting/randomization options.
There is a pitch envelope and a randomizer. Hope that helps :) - JC
DC snares? Shouldn’t this be called DC Drums?
Shhhh. That's our secret. ;) - JC
...or DC Percussions?
I bought the plug in! I like it, but is it a simple way to export a wav or aiff?
Export by dragging from the master waveform view is coming in the next update!
Venetian Snares will love this
Why is this not on rent to own??
Sadly on my low latency setup with Reaper I get pops and clicks all the time, making this plugin unusable. Was just about to buy it.
Why not just use a simple sampler and use your own samples,i don't see any point of this plugin. :/
Agreed, pointless.
I can see that at face level it looks like a four part sampler, but it's been years that artists I work alongside have been asking me to make a plugin that focuses on creating snares. The effects including the 'sizzler' are snare centric and a world first, the pitch-able playable divisions, the realtime waveforms with realtime displays, not to mention the hundreds of sounds I made for it, the randomiser and of course the workflow. The purpose of this plug was to stop the constant scrolling looking for the perfect snare and allow for craftmanship and enjoyment in the process of making a snare! Try the demo its free and hope you like it : )
so wish the delay could be tempo synced
That's coming in an update with lots more stuff!
Dude feels like he used to create the hardest tracks in the past 😂
Nothin' but the best from the guy who created SCALER and more.
🙄Sold!
Dc Snares & Kick 3...bye bye sample packs😂
very bad plugin, way better options on the market for drums
Nothing you can't do in your daw then. Totally pointless.
Correct in terms of being able to do the same in your DAW. But it will speed things up and help you find combinations that you might not be able to get via your DAW. I might be biased as I'm one of the devs, but I've found it a super fun and quick tool to get great snare and percussion sounds, much quicker than in the DAW for me. YMMV
correct but sometimes its easy to go with some default presets this brings.
@@lX-NDR Or the randomiser..!
I dont think its really pointless. It just an alternative workflow which may aid some producers others maybe not.
