Love “Phil Hollywood Tours”...hope I can book again soon!👍🚲🚲
Agreed. Never new LA and Hollywood had so much to offer cyclist. Really enjoyed the tours.
one of the many things I love about your videos is the showcasing of LA. Ive only been once and I thought it was a dirty car infested mess. Your videos show the other side of LA. Looks like a lot of fun up in the hills.
Rode this for the first time this weekend. I was surprised at how steep it was and also insanely busy with, as Phil says, hikers.
Growing up in San Diego, we were conditioned to have contempt for everything about LA. These last few videos have me thinking that one of the pillars of my native belief might not be entirely valid. Beautiful videos.
I’m from San Diego and lived in LA for over 12 years. San Diego will always be the place where I want to retire but LA is awesome. Hollywood Hill sign is one of my favorite hikes.
As a fellow San Diegan I’m still not a fan of LA lol but these videos ALMOST make me want to take a trip up there. Gorgeous views and hills 👌🏻
Don't kid yourself man. I used to do day trips to Hell A from SD and yeah the nice parts are nice .. maybe even very nice. The problem is that maybe only 20% of Hell A is nice and thats being generous IMO
dont believe the HYPE
"Smell A"
I am digging these LA tours. Every time I visit I think to myself... I could definitely live here. These videos aren't changing my mind.
Given the exodus happening now, give it a year and it might be affordable!
@@dutypaidrock Ha ha. Maybe I can find one of those multimillion dollar homes on clearance!
As a Yinzer who moved to LA 18 years ago, it's a mixed bag. The weather, food, and creativity is superior, but crime, homelessness, and pollution are far beyond anything in Pennsylvania.
I love that Phil covers the same LA modernism that Million Dollar Listing: Los Angeles covers, but with none of the douchiness and fakeness. I watch that show and recognize the stuff that Phil takes us through here. So good.
Sat here in the UK, evening time, drinking whisky, the rain lashing at my window and this video has just put a smile on my face. Right now I'm just happy to take pleasure in the joy of others. Great video, thanks for sharing.
Just wanted to say thank you. During the video riding up to the Hollywood sign I noticed your split saddle. I then realised you had included a link for pretty much everything below the film. Keep them coming Phil. Brilliant and inspiring. UK leisure rider from Liverpool.
Thanks for watching! Have a great weekend
Thanks for the tips on the route. I used it this past Monday and had a great experience starting my ride in East LA to Griffith park than to top of Hollywood sign than to the Hollywood dam. Thanks
Nice!
I was recently in LA (I live in Toronto) and I brought my bike.
I was inspired by this video and I did the Hollywood sign (twice), the Observatory (twice), the reservoir (three times), Mulholland Drive and some other rides too.
I was also lucky enough to meet up with a local close to my age (I'm 67 now) who showed me 'safer' roads to ride on. Very nice chap.
If I ever go again I would have to update my gearing - grinding up hills at low cadence isn't fun.
Thanks for the inspiration in your video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love this type of video!
Phil, I don't want to ass-kiss too much (for the sake of your ego), but I must say your LA videos are fantastic. As a cycling Angeleno, I see your videos like mini love-letters to a city so many people love to bag on - myself included. I enjoy watching you destroy a climb that usually destroys me. Sometimes I get to learn about new places to ride with your "inside" info helping to take some of the guess-work out. So thanks. You have been a pandemic bright spot!!
And if that blows your ego up, so beit.
See you on streets!
I just moved to Los Angeles and I have no idea where to ride. I’ve slowly been gathering info and spreading my wings out and flying. Thank you for showing me this. I wanna ride everything LA had to offer and this is a huge help. I appreciate it.
You *DO* have influence on many of us... i'm dragging my heavy ass last week riding uphill after watching your videos
Thanks for the vid. I've ridden it three times now because of watching. Thanks again.
I liked the dog barking at your frind when he drove by :)
Phil with a shout out to J-Pow, loving it!
These tour videos are so fun! Living vicariously this week thanks to a kidney infection lol. Makes me feel so ready to hop back on my bike!
I also ride and run up there all the time! I usually ride up from the Hollywood reservoir side to get to the gate then down Beachwood canyon to loop around to the observatory.
Looks like a stunning place to ride! That Sky is so blue! 👌
I like refilling my water bottles at Lake Hollywood.
@@emersoncardenas6899 NICE!
Super interesting, thanks. I'm from UK and have visited LA but never cycled there. Love these videos and would enjoy seeing more please.
Just rode it today, started outside the Hollywood/Vine train station and rode to 3398 Deronda Dr. Google maps will show you how to reach the gate that blocks off the semi paved road to the Hollywood sign. This video was my stepping stone to reaching the sign.
I love these videos where you take us on a tour!! Thanks!
This videos are really good, a lot of fun to watch and still really informative for LA tourism !
JPow reference! You should totally do another vid with him post COVID
One of my other favs. Such a magical area to live and ride in!
loved it! Cool, relax cycling....find it motivating to just go out and enjoy.
These are great videos. Still waiting for the tour of Topanga and it’s arty residents!
Thanks Phil for an interesting ride & video as always
Enjoying these tours of L.A.
I always look forward to these tour videos!
needed the sunshine, thank you
Wow. You made this seem so easy! Biking up beechwood / Ledgewood/ Deronda (after accidentally going all the way up beechwood bc I missed ledgewood turn😂) had me so out of breath. Thanks so much for the cool route!! I really enjoyed it
I love when folks do my rides!
Tanks Phil.. my 40th high school reunion is coming up.. Agoura.. I’m definitely doin it..
Somewhere in NM..
Great video.......I want to do this ride in September when I come out from the "mountainous" state for Rhode Island!! DD
Very cool. Thanks.
Great✔️very familiar territory too!
What a great guy. Phil is an influencer in the same way Bruce Willys was an antihero. Love the humanity and proximity of this guy.
I love Michael Muhney. Fun watching the tours.
Wow, our regular gas price is $2.19 per gallon now compared to your $3.79 on the sign at 10:27
BTW, thanks for the tour of the area around the Hollywood sign
Nice glasses Phil, very nice!
So nice! Doing this soon 🚲 ❤️
OHHHHhhh this explains everything!!! I was wondering how cyclists got up to the back of the Hollywood sign. I've been cluelessly cycling around here for months
Kinda lost you after you mentioned make a left on Ledgewood. So from Beechwood, you make a left onto Ledgewood and then make a slight right onto Deronda Drive, where Ledgewood intersects Deronda Drive and Rodgerton Drive. Deronda Drive is what ultimately takes you to the Hollywood sign entry to Mt Lee Drive. : )
I've also been following the tips on Google maps and make that realization. I'm going to try to cycle to the sign tomorrow, hopefully our directions get me there 💯
Wonderful video. I would like to try this path some day. I see low gas prices in LA, 2020.
4:30 Awesome! Gotta keep it handy just in case.
"shoutout to sweeden, shoutout to allen wrenches"
I really enjoy these types of videos. They really get me ready to say screw this job, and go on a 4 hour bike ride. But I won't, I need job.
Great vid. For the rich city that LA and Hollywood are, I can't believe the amount of bad pavement.
ALL Jeremys have powers!!
guy with the trashed car at 10:23 wasn't happy :D
@Randy Lovelace No, he'll be on the phone saying he's just seen Phil Gaimon on a Factor and he's now suddenly wanting one. Not that Phil is an influencer of course.
Having done this climb enough times… im feeling your buddy holding his leg like that at the end…. IT will do that to you. It is STEEP.
"Mountain lions, rattlesnakes...
really, the biggest fear is the influencers"
LMAO
You're a popstar now
Shout out to Phil!
/Sweden
Nice to see the Gaimon and the Muhney in their natural habitat.
you made that look easy
‘Just you and me and some bad Pavement’ sounds like a good a acoustic album title.
6:26 Can we get a closer look next time 👍 📚
6:11
6218 Mulholland Hwy, Google Maps... Last Time I was there, lots of speed bumps.
I think that the “Hog Farm” is up in that area as well.
Going to try this tomorrow. Spoiler: I'm gonna be a lot slower and probably need to walk some of it.
Did not think it was possible to make me want to bike LA.
Hah, you might not consider yourself an influencer, but I bought 2 pairs of Goodr glasses because I saw you wearing them on strava. They are awesome by the way!
Seeing Charlie Chaplins house was really amazing from a UK point of view, Phil why not do a tour of famous peoples houses, that'd be really interesting!! if you could 😉
he already did ruclips.net/video/jhmZu8qKZQg/видео.html
@ 2:03 top of -Beachwood- 3390 Derondo Dr. and Mulholland Hwy
10:19 - ouch!
Shhhhhhh be reeeeally quiet. You are in for a real treat. Out there behind me are influencers in their natural habitat. I’ll try not to disturb them 🤫
Not enough IKEA content
It was in there, you just have to put it together.
They really blurred one of 3 Address plates on that house with the garage door art LOL
Phil you should get that tattooed on your arm “I’m not an influencer I’m an athlete“
Still amazes me how Phil can wear a gilet, it looks so hot 😂
Wow....Hollywodd gas prices!
It’s designer okay?
Everyone is Eastern Europe is like “uhh, what?”
LAWD they scared the poor baby! 😂 Phil, why do people put locks on the fence?
Who’s Alan Rench ? 😊
Looks like a good descent to have disc brakes, can't let 'er rip due to all the people.
Is the "Bosch" house anywhere near these locations? It's an awesome looking house.
"You have no influence on anyone I know". Phil, "How's that bike"?
could not help the sqeeling sounds from your bike's, was it your disc brakes ?
Phil!!!! U didnt go up on the dirt behind the sign!?
I know these hills - I played gta V
"Every bike is the right bike, essentially."
Chain link fences everywhere but only in Murica
Whats with the locks on the fence?
Another terrific video. I don't see a camera sponsor, so what do you use? GoPro? Osmo Action? Thanks...
Any chance a Strava Route exists for this?
Rode it yesterday! Find where I hit beechwood. When you get to the gate, just pull the door it’s never locked strava.app.link/kiqpQmYbhcb
i was so sad that you cut off the part going downhill from the hollywood sign
The scariest part of this video is at the end when he shows that gas is at $3.79 a gallon for plus and $3.89 for supreme!!!😱
I'm paying approximately $4.60 CDN ($3.50 US) a gallon for premium/supreme here in Toronto, and I thought that was outrageous!
$5.60 a gallon equivalent in UK. Quit your moaning :)
I like Phil's videos but I have to watch it and pause, I get motion sickness from the movement of the camera. Does anyone else has the same problem? How do you avoid it?
I'm sure Phil would say "watch GCN"?
Apparently Madonna's old house was also owned by Bugsy Siegel.
I'm riding this shit next time im in LA
Is Ben still trippin in the desert?
I missed when did you reach the sign?
4:30 - it's on the other side of the chain link fence
@@gregoryboyer4846 Oh how about that so they did. I guess I was still figuring out the lock thing. Thanks for setting me straight.
Okay, seeing that you gents are big fans of that Dylan song, as am I, one of my favorite vids is Al Kooper telling the story of how he happened to play the organ at that session in '65: ruclips.net/video/FZGN7T70rgY/видео.html
9:54 that whoooole strip of gargantuan modern houses are owned by investors that house youtubers! I bet you could convince them to give you a spot 😏 you’d have to switch your sponsor to G-fuel though... on second thought, not worth it.
is that the old faze/clout area?
@@krazed9918 it is! In fact I think they're still in there. Often the garage is open and you can see their crazily painted GTRs and G wagons hahaha
Get back on San Vicente, take it to the 10 then switch over to the 405 north and let it dump you out to Mulholland where you belong!
gas prices out there are redunk
gta 5 :D
Loving the neighbourhood tours Phil. Except the so-called RUclipsr's house with the three story glass wall. That was tasteless arse. Not to your taste either methinks.
