Ah Gambit. The most underrated X-Men character to ever live.
90% of X-Men stories don’t give a shit about even giving him a minor appearance
Gambit should be winning every fight hands down, like literally, the moment he puts his hands down on his opponents body it should be over. Everyone can explode. Doest make sense that he doesnt explode peoples arms or heads, hell it was even shown that he cant control his powers (Back in the 90s, so it may be ret conned) so he should be popping people by accident.
Also, Cap is only "Peak human" but its pretty obvious he's way beyond that because all the X-Men are pretty close to peak human as well. Particularly Cyclops, Wolverine, and Gambit, seem to be extraordinary and it seems to be because of the X-Gene augments their physical forms to make them capable of withstanding their own mutant powers. And we've seen how much damage their powers can deal, so its only logical they can withstand the same amount of damage on repeat.
So yeah. Idk. I love Cap, he's my favorite Avenger. Always will be. But I hate when they clearly state he's only peak human and then have him beating people like Wolverine. It just doesnt make sense.
If you take someone who is peak human and make them fight someone who is just a normal human, the result wont be that emphatic. A normal person can knock out an MMA fighter with a lucky punch but you'll never see Cap getting taken down even by someone whose augmented. Its just inconsistent. Like the whole Superman being faster than a speeding bullet thing but then suddenly he can fly to the end of the universe in 7 seconds. Like do you even realize how big of a gap in speed that is? And its because of...photosynthesis? Come on man.
@@Kugrox Gambit wasn’t reconned he was de powered after a story put him in a fight with a future version of himself who’s powers hadn’t been tampered with by Sinister and that future version of Gambit had near kinetic manipulation that verged on reality warping , naturally. Also I agree with everything you said about Gambit and Cap, not even 1610 Cap would survive a, what I assume must be at least a 10lbs of alloy scale mail armor, exploding on his chest when I’ve seen Gambit remorseful after killing whole gangs with a few playing cards which couldn’t weigh more than a few grams!

I wish comic power scale was more consistent. I remember Gambit taking Gladiator out of the fight with a full "52-Card Pick-Up" to the chest. But in this comic the full front of Steve's armor blowing up didn't even slow him. Still, a really good fight.

New to comics? It's simple math on this one if you have been following comics a long time, and it has nothing to do with plot armor. Cap's skin and muscle tensile strength is much higher and denser then the average human. This is due to the super soldier project, where it boosted his strength up to and past the combined strength of 20 grown men. This means not only his skin and muscles are stronger, it also means his organs and bodily functions (Heart pumping, lungs filling with air, an umm...cooming too...) have been boosted. If you watch boxing, a liver punch that is perfectly placed can drop a fighter instantly. That same punch on Cap would just earn you a funny look. Cap's cells regenerate faster too, so again the damage he receives, it's already repairing much faster (Not Wolvie speed) then the average human. His healing is why he can run so fast for such a long time. If he didn't heal at that rate, his bones, cartilage, and other "rubber bands" would wear out much faster. If you have watched the Avenger movies, remember when the jet shot the hulk and the bullets just bounced off? Same thing, but hulks tensile strength is through the roof.

There will never be a story arc where Gambit bests Captain America 1-on-1. Cap has too much combat experience. Gambit didn't have a chance from the start. But at least he got Cap's undivided attention.

3:28 PFFT! what a terryifing moment to place this fun fact! Imagine the comic book decided to cheekily tell ya how many amps are in thor’s shock, or psi’s in Hulks punch the moment before they hit somebody. A general estimate anyway.
They do in some panels show the amount of strength behind people’s punches in this comic. I believe they said that the Thing hits with the force of a car going 22-25 hours or something like that
They tried to quantify some of their punches but it came out rather underwhelming lol
I think the one difference between Cap's shield and adamantium, who have the same creator, is that a type of isotope was perhaps used in place of vibranium to mimic the nigh indestructible part, since it's said that it was never figured out on how the vibranium bonded with the other metals that greatly increased it's tensile strength to the point of being nearly unbreakable. Which is why the shield was called proto-adamantium.
True, from what I read adamatium was created while attemping to recreate the shield's unique alloy.
maybe they retconned it but the original story was that vibranium is naturally occurring in wukanda mines, which was the entire reason bad guys are always trying to get there. And adamantium was made from vibranium, but better. they will never go into actual detail about it because the writers arent chemists.

Point of fact. In prior marvel comics, caps shield was never an alloy of Vibranium and Steel. It was an alloy of Vibranium and Adamantium. Not sure why this got changed though.

@@IStevenSeagal Gambit has taken down entire sentinels by himself with just one touch, and without plot armor he could destroy cap's shield. But Cap is the more popular one so they have to give him the fight.
Cap has the same advantage as Batman, where they win fights because the writer's are on their side.

A) I repeat, Marvel classed Cap superior to Gambit. Cap is classed level 4, Gambit is classed level 3.
B) Cap's shield is adamantium so Gambit is incapable of blowing it up.
@@kennyc7260 I'm not a CA fanboy but Sentinels are not made of the same alloy as that shield and up close Gambit is toast. This went down as was logical, Gambit should never have gotten into hand to hand range.

@@JoybuzzerX Cap has decades of fighting mastery under his belt before Gambit is even born. Gambit is a one trick pony, and once it goes close quarters combat, its definitely over for Gambit. Cap could've killed him easily.

Glad they showed that Gambit has decent melee skills. Obviously no match for Cap, but definitely a good fighter still. He should’ve kept his distance and spammed bombs at Cap.
A lot of respect given to Gambit in these pages i think, and pretty fair too.

Gambit is a great character with a cool power set when they are not making him the god of kinetic energy. Classic Gambit is a fan favorite for a reason. He's able to use his powers to go toe to toe with much stronger opponents. That said, he has a weakness a lot of mutants have that's always bothered me. He and many others have standard human durability. If a bullet to the head can put you down and you don't have super speed or reflexes or some other ability to make up for this characters like Cap will eat you alive. If Cap wanted Gambit dead it only takes one punch. When he got serious in this fight Gambit couldn't do much about it. Gambit is more powerful in the grand sense but he's can't do better than 2/10 on Cap. Cap has exactly the skill set for engaging an opponent like him.
Facts, that’s the thing with most mutants or anyone with super powers. Most of them don’t have hand to hand fighting skills, can only rely on their abilities. Gambit, as powerful as he is, can NOT go toe to toe with someone like Captain America.
Gambit was losing control of his power however long ago and went to Mr. Sinister to get a lobotomy to lessen his mutant powers (which led to the Mutant Massacre, side note), otherwise he would have had no control and they would be too powerful.
This video maker needs to read the "New Son Gambit" story. New Son Gambit DESTROYED his universe. Our Gambit took him out.
I was actually thinking along those lines yesterday, watching an episode of Stargirl.
I hate it in movies/shows when they make it as someone is Luke Cage indestructible, a Cap-level martial artist, or Spider-Man agile just because they have super powers! 😆

When Doc Ock took over as Spider-Man he realized that Spidey always held back against them when he broke Scorpion's jaw with a single blow. There were exception such as when Peter was fighting a flu virus and was diminished.

Honestly, Gambits lucky Cap pulled that punch or he'd be missing that jaw. But Gambit wasn't done dirty. Its pretty impressive was him catching the shield mid-flight, you usually don't see that outside of super strong characters.

Gambit is one of my favorite X-men. I have a ton of respect for Steve Rogers, but let's keep it real. Gambit used to be an omega level mutant before going to see Sinister. Cap is stronger and faster than Gambit, but Gambit's reflexes and agility should be enough to give him the win. However, it's Cap and I get it. Gambit chooses how much kinetic energy he uses when he fights. He's not limited to a certain level and I hate how they nerf him like that. Plus he smashing the baddest chick, Rogue.💯🔥🃏🃏🃏

We all know gambit should have won that fight hands down. Cap is a legacy character/flag shipped character and a iconic character. Marvel wasn't going to let him lose this fight unfortunately. In a true death battle random encounter like this gambit would have won.
I love Cap more than any property owned by Marvel but unless this is the 1610 Cap, he should be dead. Outperformed by a mutant who’s powers have a side effect of super agility, not to mention that the exploding scale amor would’ve killed anyone not protected by plot armor.

@@hunterskidmore1672 Captain America is not bullet proof, it's why he needs the armor. Living armor is not part of his power set. He's been stabbed, shot. In other universes, he's been killed multiple ways. Dude, just say plot armor. Bad writing. A drone drops a munition on cap without armor, he will be full of holes like everyone else without armor. Only difference is cap could probably heal fast enough to survive it.
That explosion should have maimed Cap. Ofcourse we don’t know if Gambit charged it enough to try and kill him but at the very least it should have blown some skin off/ damaged some organs. That was some plot armor for sure.

This just makes you ask how tough cap is because the explosive force gambit creates is based on the size of the objects and his playing cards are each considered as powerful as a hand grenade. Charging the whole top of caps suit should have felt like 30 grenades blowing up right on his skin. Considering cap is only supposed to be absolute peak human this should have killed him
