You need to quit hating on ice cream man, movie is a banger and was my first ever purchase from vinegar syndrome, at a time when you couldn’t find that movie anywhere else, from way back so it holds a special place in my heart
I actually just bought my first Vinegar Syndrome release : Road House. Couldn't believe it was VS that put it out on 4K. I'm definitely grabbing Showgirls & Texas Chainsaw 2 soon as well!
@mjibmichaeljacksoninblack8170 ah, missed out I guess! I only ever grab the fancy packaging for movies I truly love. (Definitely would've paid MSRP for the Road House one, for instance.) Standard editions are perfectly fine with me. I don't feel like buying another bookcase yet lol
Ice Cream Man?! I am at work at my hospital and I had to get an EKG and chest x-ray after hearing Ice Cream Man is one of the worse. Buried Alive I thought was okay but I understand why that can be considered bad. Daryl I did not buy but I watched online and thought it was goofy but okay, I am going to need to get some nitro now still in shock about Ice Cream Man.
Great video, Ken! I enjoyed Ice Scream Man haha. It was corny but fun. Road House is for sure the best release so far but they do have some unsung gems. Hoping to do a VS video highlighting those at some point.
I really wish VS had their lines named better and were more consistent with them. Horror, Martial Arts, Giallo, Asian, World Cinema, Studio (Roadhouse, Showgirls), etc in their own separate lines. And I'd like different customizable subscription options. Build Your Bundle where you pick X amount depending on your plan, with the ability to go back. Like maybe you're given so many Tickets every month to spend on your bundle. And it should automatically let you know if you've already ordered stuff. I think they'd get a lot more subscribers if they did some of this and they wouldn't have to do all these sales. Another option would be just drop the price of every title each month until the slipped ones sell out.
Vinegar Syndromes MO is to unearth and save old obscure titles, movies like The Beyond, Road House, Showgirls, Sidekicks, TCM 2, DARYL dont really fit the bill. Im glad people like them, but theres plenty of other boutique labels who deal with the more commercial stuff. We want the trash 😊
I remember liking D.A.R.Y.L. when I saw it as a kid when it came out, but I doubt I'd be into it now. I don't own a single Vinegar title. I wanted eXistenZ but the time ran out on the website literally while I was trying to order it and I missed it. The way they sell stuff is annoying as hell. About the only other title they've had I would buy is Hell Comes to Frogtown, but I decided to wait for a 4k.
It’s incredibly boring. Clint is cool and the idea on paper seems great but it’s lazy. I think people are more in love with the idea and trying to convince themselves it’s good. That or nostalgia. But each their own i guess.
I enjoyed The Ice Cream Man a lot. I like it more than Ticks. VS has way worse movies, including Buried Alive, Flesheater, Auntie Lee's Meat Pies, Incredible Melting Man, Blue Lights, Red Sun Rising, The Laughing Dead.
For me VS are the best in the business, but its total luck on many releases. I love Gallindo's Grave Robbers, but things like The Hearse and Blood Hook are minor gems. Like Arrow, they're going down the mainstream route and losing their identity in the process. Its not been a vintage year so far for VS, and alot of the heat has gone out of the label. But, thanks for the vid!
You haven’t watched enough vs yet. You picked pretty much all the mainstream titles they have released for your favorites, vs is all about the obscure Some of my favorites are sudden fury, candy snatchers, Tammy and and t-Rex. Check out those first two I mentioned for sure man, you will love them
Not favorites, but the best in my opinion. I watched a lot of the obscure stuff and have plenty of favorites there, but I decided to include the best movies, packaging, and features here.
Hate it break it to you but that’s because vinegar syndrome is mostly dogshit. So of course most people going to like the mainstream releases more generally speaking.
If VS released more interesting movies I'd bite, but I really don't feel like paying $40+ for either a movie I've never heard of, one that's crap, or one that another boutique has released already and I already own. I have the Scream Factory Amittyville box set and that's good enough for me.
Wow Ken, you know how to rub people wrong, so much emotion in the comment section. People need to remember, it's your list and they are free to make one and post it themselves.
I was subbed when Amityville was released, but gave it away, unopened, cause I can’t imagine it’s less boring than I remember. Although, I do enjoy Dollhouse and the one starring Patty Duke, which were also released by VS. Good Bad Flicks really made me appreciate the Patty Duke one.
Ice Cream Man is trash. I know why people like it. It's because they saw it as kids. And they have nostalgia for it. It felt like a Goosbumps story but long and boring
You've seen like 20 Vinegar Syndrome releases, so of course your top 5 are their most popular. You're not nearly qualified enough to make this video with any real merit behind it. Are you still gonna make your 40 film VS box set video like you said you might even though it'll probably be another 3 years before you've even seen 40 VS releases? Posers will pose, especially in front of a camera for the internet...🙄
@midlevelmedia It's not a troll comment if it's true though. Sorry your youtube ego is too large for you to be honest with yourself or your audience. Like I said, posers will pose...🙄
@@midlevelmediaI'm perfectly calm and completely fine. Your attempt to deflect and be funny was pathetically childish, but pat yourself on the back some more. Serious question for you. Why can you criticize everything, piss, moan, and cry, but the moment a viewer has a valid criticism about a video you made they're automatically a troll who needs to be told to calm down? That's about as hypocritical and thin-skinned as it gets. Please explain why you feel you and your videos are above criticism.
@MarlonBrando-gx9bx "Man who runs yt channel about physical media isn't qualified for a trivial rank list." That's a wild take man. The same kinda take that makes a good portion of VS diehards look like fools. It's embarrassing as fuck.
You need to quit hating on ice cream man, movie is a banger and was my first ever purchase from vinegar syndrome, at a time when you couldn’t find that movie anywhere else, from way back so it holds a special place in my heart
Agreed! I hate myself everyday that I missed that amazing slipcover. Still hoping I can find a lower price on eBay someday.
I have the Ice Cream Man from Vinegar Syndrome and audio is out of sync in some parts. I was checking if someone else noticed this
Whoa! First Bubba Ho-Tep and now Ice Cream Man?
I actually just bought my first Vinegar Syndrome release : Road House. Couldn't believe it was VS that put it out on 4K. I'm definitely grabbing Showgirls & Texas Chainsaw 2 soon as well!
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 is only available as the standard edition. They reprinted the slipcase yesterday and it sold out in seconds.
Jan-Michael Vincent slumming & Clint Howard hamming it up in Ice Cream Man is better than 99% of your library.
Ice cream man is a much better movie than your giving it credit for. 😂
And Darayl also
The From Beyond UHD looks so amazing that I watch it all the time an and don't even like the movie all that much... 😂

I've never even heard of Last Gasp, but that packaging design and cover art is fantastic!
You going to catch a lot of crap from the Vin Syn diehards for this vid

Patrick’s Roadhouse

I love the cheesy low budget stuff. Not into road house or the main stream shit at all. Feels like they lost their way a bit
I don’t think they lost their way at all. After all 90% of their releases are still dogshit. So they haven’t changed much.
I remember liking D.A.R.Y.L. when I saw it as a kid when it came out, but I doubt I'd be into it now. I don't own a single Vinegar title. I cant imagine buying a shitty movie just for packaging.
I like Howling 2. I know the movie is trash, but they're putting it out on 4K and to me, it's a guilty pleasure.
I bought it immediately. Lol
@@midlevelmedia I used to intern for Sybil Danning at her Hollywood studio back in the 90's. Had to pre-order this one!
I bought a subscription this year but I dont think I'll re up next year. I sell half the stuff they send me

Six String Samurai wasn’t the worst movie I’ve ever seen, but it was up there and it’s no wonder the VSU is still in print.
I would pick The Beastmaster in my top 5 the deluxe package was superb.
Daryl was great....I loved it....
Rad
Cloak & Dagger
The Birds 2: Lands End
Resurrection
Those are my favorite releases.
For me VS are the best in the business, but its total luck on many releases. I love Gallindo's Grave Robbers, but things like The Hearse and Blood Hook are minor gems. I thought Buried Alive was a good watch. I would definitely take that off the list and replace it with Terror at Tenkiller without a doubt.
I recently bought A Chinese Torture Chamber Story. I hated it.
I was disappointed with The Cat Creeps as well. It was one of my most animated but it really just turned out to be a big slog
Look how the video massacred my boy DARYL.
VinSyn restocked the Cloak and Dagger VSU!!!

freeway set is my favorite one of the ones i have
I actually really like The Last Gasp, some nice kills, nice locations and beautiful naked woman, what more could one ask for 😅
Great list for both. I would trade out Freeway with Showgirls. And Amityville Horror with Existenz.
Interesting
Don't you hate when you buy movies will never watch again... I'm so glad I didn't buy Daryl or buried alive for the ice cream man😊
There is no reality where the exorcist and the shining are in the same conversation as the Amityville fucking horror
The Amityville Horror is a much better movie than The Shining IMO.... as a matter of fact, Doctor Sleep is a better movie as well.

Man I am so mad I slept through getting Rad on Friday night!
I feel like I'm the only one that doesnt like Amityville Horror.
I've never liked them either. Not my kind of horror.
Arrow Video > Kino Lorber

I saw Amityville Horror when it first came out as a little ten year old, and was not scared one bit. I don't get why anyone would like this.
You didn't get into vinegar syndrome until 2022...what????? Your whole life is Media
Good media. Which my perception for a long time was that Vinegar didn’t have any of that.
