I not Happy
In the books you find out that when Merry and Pippen pass away in old age, they are buried beside Aragorn.
As they should
Really? 😭
Merry and Pippin were the first ones to die.
@@araaramitsuko how fast were you to create a account with THAT Name? 😂
In what book? Or where in the books? Cause I read the trilogy last year and I cannot remember
(Im one of those readers that sometimes dont pay attention haha)
"if she cries with The Lord of the Rings, you know she is The One"
haha :D true
Or if she doesn't ask "who is that?" and "what are they doing?" every 30 seconds.
I cried reading the books and then cried during the movies. Im just a crybaby 😂
Now I just got to find that one lol
One Wife to rule them all!
Such amazing humility on the part of Aragorn. Viggo's acting made this scene insanely epic.
Yes, absolutely.
What an actor!
Agree 🥰
It’s hard not to cry. The journey was amazing and it’s just really special to have them get the respect the truly deserved.
He can just make one line so powerful. The other characters obviously play massive role in the scene, but the way he delivers "My friends" manages to summarize their friendship, and their journeys.
Last line from Aragorn to conclude the story of the fellowship, while the rest of the scene lets you savor the moment.
Never am I not crying.
As much as this scene makes me ugly cry. Sam line of "I can't carry it for you...But a can carry you" just destroys me everytime
For me it's "there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it's worth fighting for." near the end of Two Towers.
That got me everytime too
For me its "For Frodo." Especially since as soon as Aragorn runs into battle Merry and Pippin are the first ones to follow his lead.
"It would have been her"
Sam is one of if not my favorite characters, the true hero of the pair.
I wish Tolkien could know how much joy he brought to people with his story. That's all I can think of with moments like this in the films just pure joy
I'm certain part of him knew, you can feel it

It's just every time I get some dust in my eyes, I swear

THE masterpiece of cinema. Nothing has ever or will ever come close.
Here here 🤚🏻
One of masterpieces of *literature*. A bit too gringo on film (ugly, mean, evil baddies, vs beautiful, noble, righteous goodies). But hey, that’s ‘Murica.
@@OrangePony75 The characters are the same in the books...nothing to do with "Murica"...
@@OrangePony75 I am certain that TROPe shall be much more to your liking, then...
I don't know about 'ever'. Wait another fifty years for the re-make.
Tolkien's writing is timeless, he just knew how to do it right.
Cinematography has changed, progressed since this was filmed so I am certain that the remake will be Mind-Blowing. But, they will wait a good long time before they ever try. Most of the actors will likely no longer be with us.
*everyone bows*
Merry, Frodo and Sam: whoa what's going on?
Pippin: finally. The respect I deserve
He deserves it. They all do
I think that Sam is the only one who TRULY knows what's going on, and that's why he remains serious.
Hahahahahahahaha! This comment wins. Cheers from Nashville Tennessee!
Frodo, who totally would've kept the ring: "keep on smiling, they don't know"
@@masansr
To be fair he was INSANELY strong to hold on to his common sense this fucking long. The Ring would've taken anybody else by that time.
I love how everyone is already crying before Aragorn bows, and that just makes you BURST in tears
Its because Viggo did such a great job in that scene, his facial expression was spot-on.
Possibly the best scene in the movie, second only, perhaps, to the charge of the Rohirrim.
When the king of the world bows, the world bows with him.
'' I can't carry it for you.... But i can carry you.'' was also a great scene
And for a brief moment in history, four young hobbits, the littlefolk of the Shire, stood taller than the kings of men.
-J.R.R.T.
"End?... No, it does not end here... Death is just another path, one that we all must take..."
I'm sorry, King of Gondor not King of the world.
But you're right, this scene is absolutly epic.
@@doeshumorbelonginmusic5799 I was speaking with a bit of hyperbole - while Gondor is not the world, it's certainly, at this point, the center or leader of the free world...
"their hearts, wounded with sweet words, overflowed, and their joy was like swords, and they passed in thought out to regions where pain and delight flow together and tears are the very wine of blessedness." -JRR Tolkien, Return of the King
That’s perfect
There is such humility in this scene that it touches your soul. Humility is so underestimated, there is so much love in this scene, and this is such a great lesson for life.
Humility is so underestimated
It so true :) When I become older I start to realise 3 things about humility. First thing is that its neccessary thing to have humility to be able to learn anything and develop. Becouse humility is about "knowing that we dont know anything". Its Socratic saying "I know that I know nothing". Its the only begining of lerning. And without learning there is no chance of development - for individuals and for groups. Second thing I've realised in recent years is that our modern culture is full of narcism and egoism and the times of "social medias" (which I realy call "un-social medias") only means explosion of these vices. In these medias there are so many no-names and randoms who never did anything important or helped anyone and wanted only money and fame and still think that they deserve high praise just for being this or that, or just for particles of their problems or just for particles of their charachteristics (like race, gender, political affiliation, religion, nationality, class, whatever). Third thing I've realised in recent years is that I also was too ambitious years ago when I was young - I've been on the opinion that I could become a scholar. I was working realy hard for this, but sometimes no matter what you do at last you must realise that there are circumstances you can not win against. :) I was not bad intelectualy as candidate for this job and I realy tried hard but I was simply not enough good :) And still maybe there were some not meritocratic circumstances but ideological which decided against me or against my PhD essay and against getting this job. Though I dont have any proof, thats only my suspicion which other peoples can take as only my consolation, or as my pride's consolation for not making it to the last stage of PhD defence :)
This is how you honor the source material and these reactions show that to the heart.
Pippin would just be “we’ve had one bow yes, what about second bows?”
Beautiful. And NOT IN THE BOOKS. I was such a "how dare you change anything" douchebag when Fellowship first came out, but by the time we got here I was freaking bawling. And now this is what I point to whenever someone complains about changes for a film adaptation.
Changes that do not alter the characters, plot, or tone are good, sometimes great (This. Boramir's death scene. In the books he just dies when Aragorn gets to him.)
However, most of the Dogshit cranked out in today's corporate landscape is outright disrespectful to the source material. Changing characters fundamentally, altering plot points rendering the source material irrelevant or contradictory, and adding the motifs, beliefs, and present-day politics of the talentless hacks writing it means anytime some new IP comes out and they announce they are making a new one I cringe immediately.
Thank God these movies were made when they were and not today.
Exactly, when I finally read the books after having only seen the movies many times, I got what the Tolkien purists say about the movies, but first of all, you cannot expect books to be adapted word by word into film, specially LotR, its impossible given how the movie industry works. Thats why they are adaptations, and thats why I still love these movies, because even though I understood how in the books many things are better, like Frodo being a better character for a start. I still love the Frodo from the movies, and there are things about the movies that improve upon the book and really got the essence of it.
We should be so thankful that Peter Jackson was the one to bring this story to the screen. So many other people could have ruined it.
@@lesserson2182
Exactly. The changes I hate the most are from woke SJW's. Keep in mind, I don't have problems with diversity, even if added as a change to the movies/books/games/shows that I know and love, but it has to be done ORGANICALLY. If it's a change that will service the story, I don't mind it, but if it's a change that services a political agenda, it takes the beautiful piece of art and turns it into a political campaign ad in my eyes.
For instance - when Last of Us came out and before the Left Behind DLC, the devs eventually announced that Ellie was gay. There was nothing to indicate her orientation before this moment, so it's not like they established her as a straight person and then turned her gay, it was something that was revealed later and it made sense.
Miles Morales is another good example of a change that still honors the original material. They wanted a black Spider-Man, and they created one where he was his own Spider-Man in another universe, and Into The Spider Verse ended up being my top favorite Spider-Man movie (until No Way Home came out)
The different this top notch Peter Jackson and Amazon Ring of Power, Showrunner intend to change everything and also that "the message" by the activist plays as and actor that ruined the show itself, too much woke shit ruined the IP and franchise like Resident Evil Netflix and much more
My husband and I rewatch the trilogy every year and this still makes me cry. 😭 even second hand.
Where can I find a woman who likes LOTR:(
@@JF-xm6tu They're out there! Or better yet? You find a woman who cares about you for who you are, and you get to share watching the movies together for her first time! My girlfriend had very little exposure to pop culture growing up, so I've been fortunate enough to see all of her reactions to Star Wars, Lord of the Rings (extended editions, of course), Back to the Future, Spider-Man, all kinds of stuff. She's loved absolutely all of it, and in the end, I made a LOTR fan out of her :) She's just as obsessed with this stuff as I am now (well, almost), and we plan to visit Hobbiton at some point!
@@flatstheflounder2884 I had a gf until recently she wasn't really into the same movies as me sadly :(
@@JF-xm6tu Ah, that sucks. Did she ever at least give them a try? My gf had it made up in her mind that she was probably gonna absolutely hate Star Wars and LOTR until I actually got her to sit down and watch them with me. She's a huge fan of both now 😂 Sometimes the problem is that people have it made up in their heads that they don't like something before they even give it a try, y'know? But if your ex actually did sit down and give them a try at some point, then that's understandable and I can respect that, of course.
@@flatstheflounder2884 she did try some of them but hesitantly. I think she decided she wasn't a fan before it even started. Look she was a good girlfriend overall tbh. The relationship ending was actually my fault. I didn't realise how some of my decisions were effecting her. Definitely a lesson to learn
I'm so glad someone took the time to piece this video together. That line from Aragorn is my favorite in all cinema history. I'm moved every time I see it whether it's 100 times or a thousand.

I always tell people one of the ways to tell a story, and my favorite way, is through music. LOTR trilogy is my number 1 example of this. The music in this trilogy tells the story as well as the characters
Very good character music. I would say that John Williams, Leia, Yoda and the force themes are the best.
@@bmags75 Hans Zimmer, Ennio Morricone
i think the scene is so impactful because of Vigor (Arrogon ) facial expression of genuine gratitude and the fact the most powerful man calls these small hobbits his friends. But really i think its the music.
You can literally lose weight in tears just by watching The Return of the King. I have never heard a packed audience in a theater sniffling so loudly for much of a film than this.
ET: The Extraterrestrial, Saving Private Ryan, Schindler’s List, Hachi: A Dog’s Tale, and the greatest tearjerker, The Return of the King…I was lucky enough to have experienced the saddest masterpieces of our time in theaters. The audible crying of over 150-200 people at once was an experience onto itself.
I always wondered why this scene gets everyone to ugly cry as it doesn't seem like something that should evoke such a reaction. After some long thought I realized it's about a reflection of ourselves. Many of us go through life making sacrifices and perform good deeds, largely going unappreciated or more still, unnoticed. This is a moment where the self sacrifice and hard work we all put into life gets recognized and appreciated and I believe that is something we all deeply wish for in our own lives. Profound moment in a story that goes over most of our heads. ✌🏻
it's the music bro.
the music.
not that complicated.
@@Klayhamn press x to doubt.
There are many movies that I have seen when younger and didn't get emotional but I did when rewatching them older. The vault scene in Inception with the dying father and the paper windmill in the safe for example. Or Robert Langdon realizing where Marie Madeleine is actually kept and taking a knee under the starry skies has also changed from seeing it younger and older. Tom Hanks has made me cry in a lot of movies.
@DerrickButcher
(Maybe I’ve being dramatic but) For your effort in finding and seeing the meaning and the reason we get this emotional with this scene.
I appreciate your admiration to something that fans like me adore.
For me it is the humbleness of Aragorn, he's the most powerful man on the face of the world and one of the more powerful beings alive and understands and acknowledges that him and all he knows survived thanks to those four who time and time again showed courage, selflessness, relentlessness and grit when the moment called for it.
This scene is a rollercoaster of emotions for me, Aragorn's statement and the crowd bowing made me cry from happiness, but Frodo's reaction makes me feel so bad for him, he doesn't look happy at all, he looks nervous and ashamed, as if internally he feels guilty, like he doesn't deserve this because he nearly failed at the 11th hour and tried to keep the ring, and only he and Sam know that. Anyone who's ever experienced self-loathing and low self-esteem like that can empathise with that and know how much it hurts.
Idk about that. People aren't simply their "11th hour". Frodo made the ultimate sacrifice. He's sacrificed much much much more than Sam has. I think he's just struck in this moment to see all the accomplishments from his sacrifice come into fruition.
Yes I still tear up because it shows how good and understanding Aragorn is, showing he's going to be a king who values sacrifice. He makes his day where many other kings wouldn't do much. Aragorn shows respect for his friends!
In the book when Frodo & Sam enter Minas Tirith there's an honor guard of Men of Gondor & Rohan & Elves of Lorien all in armor & singing a song of praise. At Aragorn's coronation Frodo gets the honor of delivering the crown to Gandalf & afterwards a minstrel sings the Ballad of Nine Fingered Frodo & the Ring of Doom featuring quite a few verses about Samwise the Brave.
It is amazing watching the younger generation and those who never got around to watching "The LOTR" go through the emotions. I remember watching this on opening day and bowling my eyes out in the Theatre. Good times
I remember watching the extended version and wondering, when seeing this particular scene, why Merry and Pippin were the same height as Frodo and Sam, given that they had drank the Ent-draught and were actually a lot taller than the other hobbits, Merry being the tallest hobbit to have ever lived with 4'6'' (Pippin the second with 4'5'').
Of course, the drinking the Ent-draught scene wasn't shown in the cinema version, so I guess it's understandable
At the end of the second movie (also only in the extended edition) Merry recognizes that he is taller than Pippin again. So I guess the effect of the Ent-draught is only temporary.
@@gabe6550 No, that height comparison he did was because Pippin was, for a short time, taller than Merry (Merry did say to Pippin that he, Merry, was always the taller of the two) because Pippin was the first drinking the draught. Then Merry of course drank it too and both, apparently, grew by the same amount, therefore at the end, he was like "All is well again, I'm the taller one once more".

' you bow to no one' is the absolute strongest moment in the entire trilogy, i cried like a baby at that moment. 20 years later i still cry to it
I follow almost all the reactors. I like to follow women reactors, because they view the movie differently to me as a man. Natalie Gold titled the Captain America the first avenger. Alot of tears. I didn't even think tears were even a reaction to the movie. I like the new perspective

Just brutal.
Tolkien would have hated these movies too. Christopher DID hate them. He would have considered Jacksons a desecration, turning his books into loud conventional blockbusters.
I'm a grown man... and i watched this trilogy like a hundred times... but this destroys me everytime. I'm always weeping when this scene comes. It's just perfect.
The entire last third and maybe even half of that movie makes me a wreck every time. I have seen the movie a minimum of 30 times and still it gets me every time
Well, I have to say this scene makes this [mumble mumble mumble] year old Tolkien geek tear up. EVERY BLOODY TIME!
And to prove my bona fides, my first copy of the LOTR was the Ace edition (reputedly bootlegged). AND I have a first day, first edition of the American version of the Silmarillion.
It's not often that a book translates to a movie. But this version I give a 95 out of 100.
Your age has 3 digits?
Jokes aside, first edition of the Silmarillion? You lucky mad lad :o
Sadly I'm too young to even have had the chance of seeing the LOTR movies on cinema... Local theatres only show the newest movies, no re-runs...
im sorry what did you take 5 points for?
This scene made grown men tear up in the theather i was in. I was proud enough to be one of those men!
Yeah, Magy continued bawling long after the movie ended.
She is such a sweetheart
If you did this with all men, it would be the exact same reaction lol.
I watch a video where this scene repeats itself like 10 times and start to cry every single time.
This movie has been out for more than 20 years, and this scene still makes me cry!! It always will!!
I cried my eyes out for days over this scene. Most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
There will never be a trilogy more perfect...ever.
Everytime I watch this scene I get chills. This is peak storytelling.
This scene is masterfully woven. The music, the acting, and cinematography. I, especially, love how the camera pans around to show that, after everyone kneels, those four Hobbits, literally, and figuratively, stand higher than everyone else in the world, for that moment. Especially there on top of the White City.
Me (Every single time I watch this film): "I doubt I'll cry anymore, I've watched this so many times..."
Also me (Every single time I watch this film): Waaaa, baaaaa, snorf! Not enough Kleenex in the world!"
My favorite moment in the trilogy! "You bow to no one!" Says Aragorn the king, and then he and all his subjects bow to Frodo, Merry and Pippin, and Sam.
Truly a great scene, showing that Aragorn knew and appreciated just how he had gained the throne. But for some reason, the scene that gets me more is when Aragorn tells the oathbreakers that their oaths are fulfilled. That scene's realization in the movie was SO much like the book that I found it moving. I also got a little shiver from Eowyn's response to the ringwraith, "I am no man." Anyone who swept THAT brave woman off her feet had better have a stout heart. She faced death to protect her beloved King's body.
The amount of emotion that this scene brings to an enourmous amount of people is the final proof that this movie is a master piece. A well written story, a well adapted script, well developt characters, unbelievable music... All brought together to conclude something executed with perfection.
Sad to see that none of the movies or series made today brings us these emotions again.
I'm 35 and have seen LoTR hundreds of times since its release. I can not get through this scene without tears still.
I cried at this part as a kid with my dad, now I am 26 & this part still makes us cry. #LongLiveLOTR

Galadriel told Frodo that the Mirror shows "things that were, things that are, and some things which have not yet come to pass..." She also told him, "It is what shall come to pass, if you fail."
Frodo was looking at one possible future among many; when Saruman died at Orthanc, the timeline changed, and the Shire escaped the Scouring. When the Ring was destroyed, the Shire's safety was assured.

It is not only womans that cry at this part of the movie... It is so beautiful
I cried too. Still to today, I shed a tear when I watch this scene. I'm not afraid to admit it.
There are so many details in the collected works about the relationship with Aragorn, the Dunedain rangers, and the Shire that just couldn't be put into the movies that mean so much more. One in particular is after he becomes King of both Gondor and Arnor, reuiniting both, and one of his first decrees in Arnor is that nobody was permitted to enter the Shire without the hobbits inviting them in. He and the Rangers also watched over the Shire for a very long time before LOTR and even the Hobbit take place, and Aragorn in particular grows to love the Shire and the Hobbits from afar. He already had a great love of and appreciation for them, just like Gandalf.
When Sam took Frodo onto his back and carried him up the hill I ran out of tears. Then this scene popped up and my very soul started to weep.
The woman with the blue hair even bowed. So beautiful to see

I love watching that. I saw that movie in the theater with my children and I cried like a baby at that scene.
It’s the humility from the hobbits bowing is what got me 🙌🙌💯💯 then ending it with the king’s response broooo perfect 💯💯
Man, the exhaustion in Frodo's eyes. You can tell his time is about up. He's got nothing left to give.
i watched this movie many times and always cry at this part.... i now been called the tears of Men
i love the fact that reactions have become a popular thing have introduced great movies like the lord of the rings series that used to be looked at like a nerdy movie to more pepole and shows that even tho it might seem nerdy or geeky can be masterpieces that anyone might like
this and Boromir's death always make me cry
everytime....
No human is above a King, and if a King bows ,all must bow before him without question amazing scene.
You know you've made it when a king as powerful as Aragorn bows down to you !
Not going to lie is an adult man. I get teary-eyed as well. It is powerful. I wish they could or wish Tolkien could have had the sequel to this happen.
"They're so cutie cute!"
"With their sweetie clothes!"
That was too adorable ☺️☺️☺️
