- Check out the build of my latest board. "Bruce: 5'8" x 21" x 2,5". This one has carbon kevlar rails to provide strength. The glassing went wrong on this one because the foam underneath wasn't smooth enough. I tried to fix it to my best ability. I'm really happy with the end result. An amazing board! I haven't surfed it much yet, unfortunately the waves were pretty flat the last couple of weeks.
Good thing you salvaged the board ! How did it get so many air pockets after laying it up?
Thanks for your comment.
I think it's because of the rough edges of the carbon kevlar layer. If 1 tiny fibre stands upright it causes the layer of fiberglass to not lay flat on the foam. Also from trimming the carbon kevlar layer I created small holes in the EPS foam. The fiberglass just bridget those holes resulting in an air pocket.
@@Dzjiefoils next time put down a fumed silica (think it is Cabisol) mush mix before you put the cloth on in the glassing process
@@wimgrondman5542 thanks. I will look into it
Yeah, need to seal the block before glassing, that avoid the air bubbles. Nice work btw
@@runway0343 yep. I know that now. 😂 thanks!
Good work! Nice outline. Why did you said that the acrylic paint with 2k coat wouldn't work?
Because the acrylic paint doesn’t really harden. It always stays a bit soft. You can see how easy it’s coming off during our shower session. 😜
The spraypaint hardens a lot better and has a chemical bond with the board. That in combination with the 2k clear makes it last a long time. 🤞
@@Dzjiefoils Ah. I understand. It seems that acrylic paint take a few days to dry. The problem is that one of this days I'm going to paint my son's board and just have acrylic :) Thanks and be fine
