The novelization of this movie is great because it includes not only the fact that Traxler believes Reese, but also the reason why. When Reese is interrogated by Silberman, Traxler is skeptical because Reese "must've been no older than 4 during the Tet Offensive. Yet Traxler knew the look in Reese's eyes all too well. He had seen it on so many men, especially from the Special Forces, who came back from Vietnam."
damn that's great writing.
Damn, that's some powerful shit
So I'm guessing that speculation about Kyle's age wasn't meant to be literal because this is 1984 and he was clearly way older than 19 lol.
@@genericwhitekidthesecond4330 In the movie, yes, Michael Biehn was 28. In the novel Kyle was 19. But even so, being born in 1956 would mean he got drafted in 74-75. Tricky.
Wow...amazing detail that fits with what character would have faced in a final war
I liked Lt Traxler. Seemed like a good cop, he was kind to Sarah too, just didn't know what he was up against, felt for the guy.
A sweet cop, as well.
RIP liutenant
@@seferino I don't understand why they took that scene out of the movie for example!!!!! 😤🤷♂️
@@seferino Don’t worry. He gets to command a starship in his next life. Although that doesn’t end on a high note either.
He probably had the most pointless death in the franchise. He could've been a useful ally to the main characters.
So he did believe Reese at the end.
Kinda did it wasn't all that well develop like in the TSCC with Agent Ellison
He shot him with an assault rifle and didnt flinch. I would have been the same.
Lord have mercy! Det. Vukovich survived, but was in a wheelchair: he believed Kyle. Paul Winfield was gay in real life. Can't blame his character wanting a piece of Sarah.
Well when you fire rounds into a guy's face and he keeps walking,....
@@andrewmoore7927 😂
They should've kept this in, that adds a great character layer of development
Character development the moment before someone dies is pointless and as a viewer we would know that anyone that lived long enough to think about what they just witnessed proved they would have believed reece was right anyway so the scene was pointless.
@@eraldorh "Character development right before a character dies is pointless"
What? That's arguably the biggest moment a character has to develop another layer of good writing onto themselves.
Character development should also help move the narrative along. Here, Traxler's acceptance of Reese's story amounts to nothing. He does give him a gun, but you could also assume he picked it up on the way out in the original cut.
If he freed Reese and helped to defend him and Sarah as they escaped, that would actually tie in his character development to the narrative.
yeah, there is no way Reese would have waited on the ground while some guy dying told him to do what he was already doing. He would have gtfo out of the asap.
To a dead character. Waste of time
Junior Officer : That guy's a wacko, right ??
Lt Traxler : He'd better be .
@Dark Demonik No shit. You must be so smart to realize that.
"Junior Officer"
🤣🤣🤣
That's no Junior Officer, that is Lance Henriksen playing what I guess would have been a Detective Seargent. I noticed the second guy to get killed in the rampage was the Captain above Drexler
ROBINSON XLNT What an awesome scene. It shows that Traxler is a veteran detective who knows how to spot a liar and despite the baffling claims, Kyle isn’t lying and all his experience and instincts are confirming that he is tellng the truth.
That is Bishop of Aliens,,,no junior officer,, ,,
"He'd better be". this scene should definately have been kept.
No scene with Paul Winfield should ever be cut.
@Tamer Ciftci Agreed. It's great that he hands Kyle the gun, but the rest of the dialog is needless.
@Tamer Ciftci Although you're right, I still liked watching this cut scene. It gave closure to a great character.
@@sumanadasawijayapala5372 It didn’t add to the plot per se, but I think showing even one other person who believed Reese made it feel like there is hope for humanity.
Yes, he was an icon in movies.
He was great in "White Dog", shame that movie got censored in most places.
Let’s hope that Lt Traxler stayed alive too. His scepticism and gradual acceptance of Kyle Reese’s futuristic omens added a layer of detective noir to this sci-fi horror masterpiece.
🤞🤞
Yup
If he survived he would have played a strong role in the sequel
He died.
I hope he died. Don't get me wrong, I loved his character since I was 10 y.o. (especially because this delated scene aired when I saw thew movie on tv). But If survived, he would not only be traumatized after the events of the police station, but knowing that everything was true and he had no way to stop it.
They should definitely have kept the last one in the film, and it would explain how reese got that gun
@martymonster True, I never thought about it til now either
They should have definitely left this scene in, but I always thought Reese just took a gun from the cop he knocked out, or from a fallen officer.
Well, I though the gun he gave to Sarah was the one he took from the police guy at the beginning :3
@@mikeblackmetal, you reckon he had that in the Police Interrogation? Not a hope.
wtf you talking about its a 38 which every cop had, he couldnt picked it up from the car or even the guy he knocked out (after he kicked it away)
“She’s got to stay alive, so you do whatever you have to do.” He hands him a revolver which had proven worthless against the Terminator, but it’s it’s intended to be used against people who get in Kyle’s way, maybe even other cops. He’s telling him to break the law; rob or kill whoever he has to in order to keep Sarah alive. It’s a powerful scene.
I knew it. The first time I saw the lieutenant actually listening in while the other one was just poking fun of it made me think that he actually believed this thing. This is the first time I’ve come to see there was a whole arc about him and I’m shocked. At least in the end he tried to help them and save humanity 😔
In the novelization, Traxler believes Reese because the look in his eyes reminds him of the look special forces coming back from Vietnam had. But he seemed too young to have actually been one of them (He's 19 in the book, but it still works for his clearly older movie version).
He wasn't believing. He was pro enough and not tired enough to actually LISTEN ATTENTIVELY for actual clue as to what was happening, instead of dismissing out of hand and boxing whole thing.
@@piotrd.4850 Except as the deletes scenes above show, he WAS starting to believe.
RIP Paul Winfield (May 22, 1939 - March 7, 2004), aged 64
You will be remembered as a legend.
You should see him in the Serpent and the Rainbow!
The Beast at Tanagra.
Wozani, his army.
Shaka, when the walls fell.
0:40-the end, I wish they'd kept those scenes. At first Traxler was conflicted with believing or disbelieving Reese and once he witnessed the Terminator was real, he pleads Reese to keep Sarah alive.
"The guy's a wacko! Right?"
"He'd better be..."
That might just be the best movie exchange
that I've never actually heard in a movie.
I love how Trexler kinda believed him.
Trexler did believe him. In the book version of the movie, Trexler is a Vietnam vet who worked with special forces and when he watched Kyle talk about the future, he saw the same look on his men in Vietnam. You can only get that look by seeing combat so Kyle would have to be absolutely insane to pull it off. Hence why he said "he better be" to the question of Kyle being insane. Trexler kind of believed Kyle and the police shootout proved it hence why he armed Kyle on his way out.
This scene is better then the whole genesys movie
Genesys and dark fate together.
Genisys is growing on me, it's at least bold and innovative, Salvation is still my preferred sequel but I don't mind Genisys at all.
Dark Fate is ass.
@Dark Demonik I'm just saying how I feel
@Dark Demonik That's an opinion, not really a fact but go ahead
joshua rosales agreed.
WOW. Even those small segments of deleted scenes are better than todays movies.
oh yes
No kidding.
Indeed yes
Watching a finger puppet show is better than today's movies!
Lmao... alright, whatever you wanna say
"Nobody else comes through. It's just him and me."
Yeaaaaaah, right.
Yep....that's a T2 plot hole right away..and T2, apparently is the film that can do no wrong.
I prefer T1 over T2
@@paulstevens9409 I mean, Kyle Reese in the first movie could have simply been mistaken.
Well, the terminator came before him, and he had no way of knowing that nothing travelled after him. I think that the terminators from T2 were sent right after Reese, or maybe the T1000 along with the first T800. They could have bothered to explain better
He says in his police interview that the time machine was destroyed after he went through. But he would have had no way to confirm that.
@@Xtravia9 the truth is, Hollywood wanted more pennies for the piggy bank. They made Two with different time travel rules to One (closed loop vs open future), but it was fine because both were amazing movies. But then three, four, five, and six have all been about the money, not the creative vision.
This movie should definitely be released in 4K with all this deleted scenes included.
with original mono sound
This scene should have definitely been kept, because it makes Traxler have a good heart
One of the things hollywood does is remove/change scenes that would make great movies brilliant. Why?. idfk. And this is not just with regards to Terminator but a pantheon of other films that directors and writers complain about.
Extra scenes make the movie longer, longer movies mean less box office receipts, less box office sales mean less profits for the Hollywood execs. In essence they don't care about art, only money.
nope you re wrong this would ruin the pace of the movie.this movie is meant to a perfect horror film
these type of scenes induce hope in it.which takes you away from its true goal...it s supposed to feel hopeless..not hopeful.
@@legendk.p2634 Correct. Reese didn't have any supporter but himself. That's what they wanted to show and it worked out. They would've left these scenes in, it wouldn't have been as dark as it is.
@@Radimunto While the gun handling scene had to go, one doubt could be left.
Lt. Traxler was a cool character. I think these scenes should've been in the final cut, but maybe that's *"moon talk."*
A good cop will never reject a seemingly incredible version.
Not so much as 'not reject' but listening to hear not the story, but the man telling it - looking for clues, cracks.
To this day, I want an uncut version of this film like how Terminator 2 had an uncut version by adding missing scenes. Too bad I wish they kept the scene of Sarah's narration while looking over adult John playing with his daughter.
True it would have properly ended the saga. There wouldn't have been other sequels.
Same. I'd pay extra just to have a fully integrated "complete" cut. I can see why most of the 10 minutes or so of deleted scenes were cut, but establishing shot showing that the computer factory was called Cyberdyne is absolutely critical for linking the two films IMHO. I can't believe they cut that.
When did they release the full cut of T2?
@@WolverineIncognito A decade or so ago. It was the Special Edition that extended the film. It helped recontextualize many scenes in the film like changing the T-800’s CPU chip to read-write mode.
I'm 39 and I'm just seeing this. Damnit.
I'm so happy someone believed him.
Happy 40th
I liked that guy.
They really should have kept these scenes, especially the last one. Personally, I would have liked it a lot better if Traxler survived the attack on the police station and came back to help Sarah in Terminator 2, perhaps as the one cop who knows she's right about judgement day.
They had computer chip and partial hand, and They let Sarah be locked up, drugged and called crazy. Disgusting vermin
Yes.
They were originally planning something like that with Vukovich (Lance Henriksen's character, Traxler's partner at 0:49) since Henriksen was close with James Cameron, but he was busy on another film and couldn't follow through.
Those last two scenes should have been left in, totally deepens the character.
I was today years old when I saw this, and oh my God, I wish it had been in the movie! Traxler was one of the best supporting characters in the first movie (and maybe even the whole franchise). Seeing him slowly start coming around to what Kyle is saying, even with non-verbal queues, is fantastic. What an amazing set of deleted scenes!
Holy shit, why didn't they keep the scene where he hands Reese the gun at least? That would've been awesome to see at least some one believed them...
That last scene where he gives them the gun was included in early TV edits to pad out the time.
This and the “moon talk” scene are great, and I wish they stayed in the movie
“It’s just him... and me..”
Imagine if Traxler survived and went out on the run with Sarah & Reese
It wouldn't work, Sarah and reese were supposed to build a bond and ultimately create the saviour. A third person there would totally have diminished this. A real example of threes a crowd.
Lt. Traxler. A MEN OF HONOUR😢
Almost wished they did a director’s cut of The Terminator
@martymonster He meant like with all the scenes in the movie.
Yes, we need a director's cut of T1.
Lt Traxler knew what was up the whole time. I don't think i would have chanced it after seeing a man immobilize a whole police station single handedly lol
Should have stayed In the film.....shes got to live
This should have been in, it shows his realization that Sarah is the mother of the futures hope
The last scene when Lt. Traxler realizes the Terminator is real, and that Reece was telling the truth.
As he lies dying, he hands Reece his pistol.
after looking at many deleted scenes from this movie, they honestly shouldnt have deleted any of them cause they basically took away so inner sides of the characters
I love finding deleted scenes like this years after seeing the movie. I always liked the Lt and Bishop in this movie(not really Bishop but lance Hinrichson. ) I love that they filmed this scene an wished it stayed in the move. It's almost too good to be true. They realize all too late that Reese isn't crazy and he is really a hard as nails resistance fighter from a nightmare future scenario where a computer becomes an AI that tried to wipe out humanity. All the crazy stuff Reese told them was true and they realize they are all actually on the same side and how he hands Reese a gun and tells him to protect Sarah at any cost because all humanity is at stake. Such a great moment because Reese is vindicated.
Always seemed to me in the theatrical cut that Traxler was taking Reese quite seriously, this is a great little arc, final scene where he hands over the gun should have been kept in.
When Lt. Traxle tells Reese he has to protect her that scene should have been kept in. He finally believes reese was not crazy and he was right.
Instead of the terrible sequels, they should of made an alternate storyline film...Traxler & Company, Terminator Hunter
Holy crap, Never seen any of this before! Thank U for posting. 👍
That last scene really slows down their escape though, I can see why it was cut.
Agree. It doesn't really add anything. And it puts a slow beat in the middle of a frantic, frenetic and intense scene.
@@chriscolabella880 It doesn't add anything? How about the gun that he gave Reese, which Reese will later give to Sarah. Not to mention, the closure we got and rightly deserved for Lt. Traxler.
@@andreim.5324 Adding a scene for the purposes of plot mechanics is poor writing even if it is necessary, and it isn't here: Reese is in a building full of bodies and guns. Agree it was a nice to see Traxler alive and complete his arc though.
I like this scene but cutting it out was the right move. The intensity of the chase was on a high note. This scene would have broken the vibe
Traxler was the only cop who believed in Reese's story.
Old school hard boiled cops know when suspects are telling the truth. Old cops learn to read body language and know what doesn’t add up.
When Traxler said Reese better be crazy, it’s because Kyle Believed every word he said and his body language matched.
The fact the shrink so easily chalked up kyle’s story to clinical psychological issues shows how cynical he is… despite a night club filled with dead bodies, dead roomates, dead cops, 3 hoodlums, that guy from gremlins… Traxler did not.
Now I gotta find the uncut edition😮
He believed their story, not because he was smart but because he had that police hunch.
This was awesome 😎, I always loved Traxler's character, I wish they had included this scene in the movie. A bigger part, would be even better!
Your channel is fantastic mate. Preserving history.
If he had lived after the realization that its a future killing machine from the future…. Traxler would’ve helped sarah & john survive.
R.I.P. Paul Winfield.
Critical information and character development! James Cameron’s best film are on the cutting room floor somewhere…
Cameron needs to do whatever he has to do to reinsert this scene into the movie lol
This should have been included for sure.
They should release some version where all these scenes be in the movie !! Its crazy how much more this adds for those two characters !
Best deleted scene
Should of kept this bit in the film and Lt traxler was only person who didn't think Reese was a nut job.
1:00 The look on Hal's face, he knows His partner probably better than anybody, And he knows his partner would not believe something that wasn't true. You see here in That instant he knows it's very possible there's something to Reese's story
Now he believes in Reese story after all.
"MICHAEL BIEHN"
1000/1000.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I understand the reason for the scene of Lt. Traxler giving his gun to Kyle Reese being cut off. Even during the attack on the police station it seems far-fetched that some police officer believed the story about a terminator. Even with footage and photos, in the second film no one thought the T-800 was a robot.
Paul Winfield portrayed Traxler with nuance. Much like Alec Guinness did with Obi-Wan, he uses little bits of stage play in his performance to leave it open to interpretation how his character truly feels.
While Silberman and Vukovich laugh off Reese's story, Traxler appears disturbed by it. You can argue either way that he's concerned how much this 'crazy person' believes their own story and this is the one they have in custody when there's another one out there with multiple confirmed kills, or that Traxler is entertaining the possibility that Reese IS telling the truth. After all, while he's correct that a tac vest can stop a twelve gauge round; it can't stop a dozen blasts like Reese pumped into the Terminator at Tech Noir that Sarah witnessed and he knows that. Then he's there as one 'man' slaughters his station without pause. And then before this deleted scene, he and Vukovich fired their M-16s point blank into their attacker and it does NOTHING. That's enough to make any man a believer.
@@DomWeasel agreed... He knew then that something very wrong was happening.
The other cop character believes him, too, hence his asking, "...right??" Both cops knew, one just didnt wanna believe it.
Some of these were rightly cut, but that part where he says "...he better be" I think would've been a great add.
I would have liked a lot, if this scene would be in final movie
I was sad for traxler
Paul Winfield was always cool
1:05 simply...... WOOOOW!!! Thank you for this :D
Hmmmm. This scene doesnt make it entirely clear if Traxler was killed or not. There was talk of Lance Henrikson reprising his role T3 as the cop now in a wheelchair but it never happened. Traxler no doubt believes Reese because..1. How could any normal man survive getting shot in the head during the car chase shooutout? 2. How could one man demolish an entire police station? Traxler is no dummy.
He was a good man
They should have kept the last two scenes in the film
Wow. I thought I'd seen every Terminator deleted scene until this moment.
I hope they re-release the cut with these in them
Aww, that last one?, choked Me up folks...😥
It's sad how Reese must flee away without time to say any last words to Traxtler, exactly like with the girl of future remembered assault
I'm glad these scenes were cut
Why the hell didn't they include that last clip?
always wondered where reese got that gun..although he did get a revolver from the first officer when he first arrived in 1984
All my 32 years this is the first time i saw these T1 deleted scenes. Why cut them out? It's like being cheated out of all your change back.
The ending scene should have been in the movie!!!
This scene gives somehow a pourpose to Traxler's scenes, in the theatrical cut Traxler is somewhat wasted. Were given the perception he's smarter than his coworkers and much more serious, these deleted scenes gives a pourpose to all the attention that has been given.
In other words, in the theatrical cut Lt. Traxler is useless, he could been substituted by anyone else and nothing would change.
This shows that traxler learned Kyle was telling the truth and entrusted him right before he died. Shame it was cut.
So that's how Kyle Reese got that revolver. The scene in the movie when Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor emerge out of that drainage tunnel,Kyle is seen holding it and when Kyle gives the revolver to Sarah in the Tiki motel room before going off for supplies.
Have wonder for about 4 decades, knew Kyle got the gun from a dead police officer in the station but from whom.
Yeah this scene....it seems out of place. It slows down their escape and relieves the tension. Smart move James👍
These scenes are awesome. Not sure why they were cut.
0:48 you can see Traxler is running the info through his cop brain and the evidence supports Reese. When he says he better be, you can hear a hint of worry in his voice
Lt believed Reese
Wowwww. After all these years, im still seeing new shit from this movie. Awesome character.
wow.. im surprised i never saw those clips all this time
I didn't know that Bishop was based off an LAPD cop.
It’s good that they cut this out, it would make no sense for them to even consider Reese was telling the truth. Especially the bit where he says “he better be”.
Someone left a comment saying he recognized the look in Reese's eyes as the look of a soldier and that's why he believed him.
Tracker was clearly the more incisive if the two detectives.
That is great. Especially the end.
I'll be damn..
The whole time the detective believed Reese
Respect, Lt Traxler
Dang, I wish these moments stayed in the film
Should have left these Paul Winfield scenes in the movie
I would have liked to see a scene in Genisys that Sarah rescues Traxler.
Is there any chance you could make the quality better? is there any possible way you can remaster these deleted scenes? 1080p would be awesome!!!!
