That yellow flash is so rare! Kelly found it in Hawaii at a local nursery. She showed it to me and I begged her to try and find another. I told her I would have it shipped and I would pay her for all the expenses. The problem was she couldn’t find anymore. The third time she visited, she found another in spike but was not sure. Finally it bloomed and it was that same dendrobium. She surprised me by gifting it to me. She is so awesome to do that. That’s why I was only expecting that one orchid. The other 3 were a total surprise. I’m in orchid heaven🤗

Hi there. Thanks for watching my channel. You are talking about the Dendrobium Yellow Splash. I got it from Kelly of Orchids in Paradise as a gift. She got it at a local nursery and they only had those 2. She has tried going back to see if they have more, but that’s the only 2 they had. Jeremy of S&W orchids shipped it to me. But it did it did not come from their nurseries. That’s why they told you they didn’t have any.

Love the orchids! That Niefert's Quest is stunning! Mounting is a good call for the Maikai cross - they grow to be impressive specimens! And media too - wonderful!
Hi Nelson A live chat about dendrobium would be awesome. I love my dens and grow most of them in full sun. I live in Curaçao which is a small but oh so beautiful island in tbe Csribbean. Very different climate from yours because most of the year we barely get any rain. Water is very expensive so it's always a challenge to keep our orchids beautiful. The sun can be relentless on the leaves. Btw no I do not own a greenhouse (yet).
Hello Curaçao! I have other viewers from there as well. I met a very nice young man from there at one of our shows. Hope you get a green house soon. Sounds like that would help you keep your orchids more humid. Just don’t place it under full sun. You may create a sauna instead.
@@naturenel oh the dens love the sun as do the mocaras. Always in bloom. The catts get sunburned so I have them as much as possible in the morning sun or shade. But I do not have trees so that is also a challenge when the sun comes from a different direction... but I love them all.

Hello. I sometimes use it as medium sometimes. But lately I’ve been reporting my bulbophyllums in moss and then I just add a layer of the bark on top of the moss. So far so good. I’m always test new things and ways of doing things. By the most part I have many successes, but there are some casualties sometimes.

Hello Precious! I’m sure it’s been hard getting back to your regular routine. I remember when my mom passed 4 years ago, I felt in a fog. It took me a while to regain my self back to my routines. It all depends how cold it goes down in Pinellas County. In order to promote spikes, a good drop of about 15 to 20 degrees will usually encourage spiking of flowers. More than that is not really necessary or good for the plant. Don’t place them all outside. Test with 1 or 2 phals. See how that works. Happy spiking!🤗
