Hi from Alberta Canada where it’s currently 1°c and sunny. I just found you and love your sense of humour. Looking forward to watching some of your other videos and learning lots as I’m a newly obsessed orchid parent.
Aaaa im so excited!! Beautiful orchids as always Matthew! Nurseries have finally opened up for shipping to Norway again as the winter has officially passed.. so now i can finally order orchids again too. Just ordered a bunch of the "dreaded" Miltoniopsis orchids.. lets see how it goes
I've had good luck with cattleyas with large chunky bark so they can get a real wet/dry cycle. When I've had baby new growths get damaged, it often starts a new growth so I'll keep my fingers crossed!
Now that is a nice haul for sure. We are just going into Sarcochilus flowering season here in the UK so exciting times here. I think I would be tempted to get a replacement to Cattleya maxima as that damaged or knock has not been done in transit, such a shame but these things happen. Fingers crossed it does well.
Hi Mathew😌🙌Wonderful new orchids! The Oncidiums and Miltoniopsis don't like temperatures over 29℃, and place them indoors on sucgp days infront of an oscillating fan👍. I have lost many Oncidiums too, so I'm in the boat. I'm getting the hang of it now. I enjoyed watching😌💞
I've never been disappointed by Red Fox Orchids: great packing, super customer service - very responsive. So glad you are giving them a shout out here.
Red Fox Nursery is 1 hour from me & we’ve visited several times. I’ve also had seedlings sent thru the post. You need a shade house with 50% shadecloth so the orchids can be in full sun. My oncidium alliance orchids are on the eastern wall getting full morning sun filtered thru shadecloth, & grow like weeds. They can tolerate cold temps as well. We get down to 7 deg. in winter. Also I’ve seen experts stake damaged shoots & they grow on so maybe don’t give up on it yet. Going into winter, it may not shoot again til spring. Good luck!
I also have the Miltoniopsis Nakamoto. The leaves are getting wrinkly cause I think it needs to be watered more often. I am glad I am not the only one who is killing orchids lol The smell of the Nakamoto is wonderful.
I bought my first Miltoniopsis (Edie Brown) at a local orchid show a couple of weeks ago and it is also a little wobbly! It's potted in medium size bark, but I'd rather have it in a little sphagnum moss or coconut coir with some small grade bark. I'm planning on having it repotted and watered at the same time as my paphs. 13:39 I think I would buy that Bakerara just for the pseudobulb! 🤯
I am so jealous, that Miltoniopsis Nakamoto is STUNNING ! ❤😅 I wish they did sell it here in Europe! Maybe one day I will find it. Thank you for the great unboxing and happy growing!❤
Hey Eelke, I HAVE the Lilian Nakamoto. 😁 I still don't have the Herr Alexander though. I transitioned to semi-hydro in pumice and nice new strong growth, but doesn't look like it will spike on this one. Oh well, all the other Miltoniopsis are growing and spiking. Cheers Eelke! 😊💕
Congratulations on the new orchids! I would really like to see all the other plants you have in your home, would be interested to see which not-orchid plants have made it into your home / heart 😀 Any chance of a plat tour on one of your videos?
Extra note: I’ve tried growing Miltoniopsis & hybrids. They thrive until Summer temps. get to 30 deg C & die!! If you can keep them cool all year, that might be the magic formula?
Good morning Mathew, a little envious of your gorgeous beautiful plants. I am sure they will grow well and will be most rewarding. Do have a lovely day, go well. Kind regards.
Nice Haul!!! Had to have the Lilian Nakamoto as well. 😍🥰The Miltoniopsis, do what you can to firm it up, stake it for now. As you know, when you have new growth fuss/repot at your discretion. It will be fine! (trust me😉😂)The Bakerara "Unforgettable"... wowzers! You do crack me up how you say things and have to rewind to hear it again! 😆🤣 Best wishes for your new additions, especially the two that are a bit compromised. 🙏😊❤
Nice haul. Redfox orchids are a fantastic supplier, I have bought from them before. I love seeing unboxings, so exciting, does your partner enjoy orchids?
That is sad but they might have a passion/hobby that your are ambivalent about. It balances out. Wouldn't life be boring if we were all the same. Best wishes for your new beauties. Happy growing.🙏 @@helloplantlovers

Rex's Luck flowers are beautiful but they are very small, about half the size of a Sharry Baby bloom. It is supposedly fragrant but I never noticed anything on mine when I had it.
Hi Matthew, really enjoying your content as a newly obsessed orchid nut. I have just received a delivery from Red Fox myself, including the Sea Snake which I have coveted since I saw your first video on it. I have limited space and as such am trying to stick to orchids that will grow happily outside for me (Gippsland Victoria, possibly slightly colder without the 'heat island effect' of the city, but otherwise very similar, on a north facing deciduously shady verandah). I am wondering if you have any more insight into where you think you went wrong with this one - any updates to the care you talked of in the dedicated video? Too cold, too shady, too wet/dry?
Hi there - well good luck with yours!! I think I’d left it too shady and damp a spot over winter. Cold + wet + low light = DEATH! I’m going to try the replacement outside over winter in better conditions so we’ll see!

Your giving a dilute sea salt bath?
NO! Seasol - it's a seaweed tonic.
