Bee Gees ~ Night Fever 1977 Disco Purrfection Version

- The Bee Gees became quite adept at mastering pop music with sweet ballads in the 60's and ended up claiming the pop charts for themselves with a white hot streak of disco/dance oriented songs that began with 1975's #1 hit "Jive Talkin'". This new funkier Arif Mardin produced incarnation set the trend in quality of production and arrangement of music and vocals. "Jive Talkin'" was a hit at the time "Jaws" was rolling over the competition at the movies that summer. A second from the same album was also a #1 hit, "You Should Be Dancing". Mardin was the producer who got them in touch with what was happening in pop radio at the time, had them listen and then directed their sound towards R&B. In the meantime, Robert Stigwood had signed a new distribution deal with Polydor instead of re-signing with Atlantic. When the time came to record the follow up to "Main Course", they found out that Arif was no longer available to them due to his being a house producer under contract to produce only Atlantic artists. Instead of giving up, they took what they learned from Mardin's productions and did them one better...by hiring the studio engineers they had worked with on their biggest hits to date. They did run into a problem when the drummer had a family emergency and had to return home before he was able to complete the rest of the tracks for the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack. Experiments with a primitive drum machine to replace him failed but gave birth to a novel idea. One of the engineers remembered that they already had a drum track in the can and floated the idea of making a drum loop from it and using it for other songs. Barry picked the bar and the two engineers labouriously came up with the loop "which sounded insistent without sounding machine-like" and used it on "Night Fever", "Stayin' Alive" and their version of "More Than A Woman". Pretty cool, eh? Apparently, they also used it on Barbra Streisand's "Woman In Love" single. "Night Fever" was the biggest hit they had from that album, spending eight weeks at the top of the pop charts in early 1978. Even after their #1 pop successes up to "Stayin' Alive", "Night Fever" was not the highest new entry that week hopping in at #76, while Barry Manilow took the honor with "I Can't Smile Without You" which entered at #63, 13 slots higher....This song will always represent the absolute peak of disco to me, it is sweetly intoxicating with a magical backbeat and spent eight weeks at #1.
2024.. i’m 33 years young. 90’s raised.. but man.. my parents gave me some gems to music.. I love 60’s 70’s 80’s music so much! Makes me feel like I lived in a generation I never got to live in ! 🙏🏽 must’ve been great times
You WERE there......example of reincarnation at its best!
At 58 now,I just hope the younger people respect The Bee Gees as much as my generation still does.😎😎😎😎
I’m 24 playing this every day !!
Mom raised me partially on the Barry Gibbs. Currently 31. Mom would have raised you on the Barry Gibbs. She's 74 now.
Hips left, hands right.. yeaah .. the coolest music in the world..
Yep born in 64 here too, Disco dance floors were rammed when the BeeGees were on the turntable! Same as with Donna Summer, great times in Park Av in Sutton Coldfield early 80's
I absolutely do 😊
One of best songs ever written, nobody could touch the bee-gee,s in 70,s.
70's?? No one could touch the bee gees today..
Glad I NVR Touched them, Only the Touched would...same sex approval for a good licking good time
I have always felt a strong connection to Night Fever. It has this special something that I can’t explain or deny feeling. This song is a masterpiece among all Bee Gees’ songs.
Highest Selling Bee Gees song of all time....18 # 1 hits ,They had !!! Did u know that? Also look up several other Remixes
I know ! A lot changed for me in my life when I first heard their music on my dad’s CASSETTE player. Couldn’t believe what I was hearing and subsequently, feeling.
What a great song since 1977 but it is still rocking ❤@@user-ts2co4ov5h
And this song was recorded in 1977, just imagine... and still rocking. What a masterpiece
Master POS fer sure
And it will keep rocking till eternity
Remember the Disco trends and lifestyles 🎭 era?
Remember Donna summer and kc sunshine band
Remember the coolest of dressing up and learning how to dance
Alongside the car with radio stations blasting the music 🎶🎭☯️
It worked in roller rinks..
Summer of 1977! Was like a dream, just a dream. 45¢ a gallon gas 109 octane. 69¢ Big Mac. 49¢ dozen of eggs and on sale sometimes for 29¢! A big fresh loaf of real ingredients Wonder bread 🍞 at 99¢ and on sale for 59¢! Candy bars at 15¢. Rent a house for $150 a month with water, sewer, trash and sometimes natural gas included except for the landline phone service at $6 a month. Used cars trucks SUVs at around $300 to $500 private party or same on lots for $700 to $1000! And clean like new. Life was still dirt cheap in USA compared to 2023! If you lived it and saw it and heard it and even tasted it, you know what I mean. 46 years have passed, but the memories of a time we will never see again will stay with us for all that were there at the time and still here. Different people, different era, different time, different styles, different music, and totally different country. A time never to return again. Glad I lived it, and so did you in the Mr. Peanut era presidency, even with the so called inflation, unemployment, interest rates of the time. Good luck all with the extremely nightmarish frightening horrible horrific high cost of living in USA TITANIC in 2024! It's all going to get more pricey and unaffordable as the months years go by. 1977 were are you?
Did you say 69 cent big mac
You could just as well be talking about western Europe in 1977. Despite inflation, other structures/inputs made life bearable. It's just how I remember the UK at that time....
Agree 110 %
@@marklillard8082 The Bee Gees said in 1975 that they were going to make a disco record to get hits to become the kings of disco.
Their wives divorced them for going disco in 1975 and it's sad and pathetic that disco destroyed their marriages. Yes disco music can be the cause of a breakup of a marriage and cause divorce. How sad indeed it is!
Это год моего рождения ☺️ и у нас тоже было хорошо вплоть до 87-го когда Горбачёв начал развал СССР 😢
I've had others to tell me that they never liked disco, or disco is dead.... not true. Disco is as important and alive as other music. Myself, I'll always love it. It's energy is still incredibly awesome. DISCO LIVES !! ❤
Exactly!!! Nice to know you feel the same way as me!!!🎉🎉🎉
Disco and R&R will never die!! Don't worry!! ♥️😀♥️
I will always love this group!
All disco is
Is slow funk or groove or Boogie music.
And actually a lot of EMD music genres incorporate a lot of Boogie and Funk and disco into their music.
Especially euro-pop and new wave and hip-hop back-in-the-day Incorporated funk an jazz.
Very well said!!
The best track from Saturday Night Fever LP. I.M.H.O. Flawless & magically timeless. 🐱🎉♥
The Bee Gee's are amazing. They changed dancing in the 70's with John Travolta and the producers of Saturday Night Fever. Thank you to all of them. Especially the Bee Gee's. Without their music there wouldn't of been Disco!
Donna Summer, there were so many. Great music is timeless.
Disco existed before the Bee Gees.
@@Videomaker-pz4xm I think what you meant to say is the disco genre came after the Bee Gees, but had already peaked by the time they released these songs a week before Christmas in 1977. The Bee Gees gave disco another two or so years of life before nu-wave 80's punk and rock took over for their turn.
Bit over dramatic 😊 disco 🕺 was a great success by many many talented music 🎶 artists . The Bee Gees 😊 are a fabulous fantastic 70s group 😊 love the film 😊 the music 🎶 & happy memories of a teenager learning & experiences of new beginnings in life 😊 we are a great generation 😊still dancing 🎶 & having fun 😊
@@The_OneManCrowdExactly. Agree 👍
A true masterpiece in every way. This song will never get old. Thank you, Bee Gees. You made the '70s fabulous.
and the 2023 Yeah Baby we still groovin!!!!

This is absolutely one of the greatest remixes ever, making a great song even greater. What wonderful memories it brings back...Carefree days, glorious simplicity, heavenly dance steps, family togetherness. My goodness. Those days will never come back, but tunes like these will always remind us of what it was like.
There will be new days like this 🙏
@@MistaGoodStuffdoubt it. This type of 'history' doesn't repeat itself. The moral fabric has been shed as well as lost a long time ago.
May when we die, we can travel back to any point in time that makes us happy!
I am/was always a Black Music fan, but when this song came out I was mostly blown away by the sampler and that has never changed.
Today I am 60 and am currently experiencing a journey through time.
Your versions always show the songs the respect they deserve.
Thanks!
Found this channel a few weeks ago. He starts at the beginning of the songs and doesn't stop. Listen to Chic "I want your love" the intro is amazing. This is a great artist keeping some excellent music current.
You are still a Black music fan because guess what? The Bee Gees themselves confessed they had always been drawn and inspired by Black Soul Music...When asked why, they boldly and firmly reiterated that Black people are naturally endowed to out-sing Whites and asked everybody to accept that truth...In fact they proclaimed Otis Redding to be their favorite Artist, and lauded him as having the#BestVocals, while stating how they adored him...They wrote 'To love somebody' at his behest, but when he sadly passed away three months later, they recorded it and it blew the charts. When you listen to their official video of 'To love somebody', you can feel Otis' vocal influence radiating throughout the melody. The song has been covered by over 200 artists, like Janis Joplin, and Michael Bolton plus many more Greats since then.

The 70s the best time to be alive and young
The young ones today have no idea what they missed
And look at the crap hole we live in today
At least I can listen to this and forget about the now and go back to then 😍😍
Going to the discos on a Friday and Saturday night and doing the disco barn dance 💃
Today's and future generations will never see and experience what we had, '70s and '80s the best era. 60's is great too.
DJDiscoCat made this version of this song in 2015 so the new generation has some idea of how things were.
I agree!!!! i was born in '70 so I know the '70's... and was a child having the time of my life!!!!
This song brings me back to the scene in the movie, where they all danced together, they all looked happy and were having a blast, good times.
we did have a lot of fun in our 20's not like now when we are in our sixties amd warn out knees lol. Still fun to listen to
After all this time it is still as good as it was back then! Quality and awesome sound one can`t get enough of it.Evergreen forever!
I am 73 Year's old and still love this Music the best. I still can do the Bump dance to this music. Bee Gees forever.
Comparto su pensar, que música más buena.
Never mind the vocals, the combination of strings and rhythm guitar makes the hairs on my arms stand on end. What a groove! What a sound!
RighhhT! Gives me chills and goosebumps at the same time
Painfully reminiscent
My Soul and Spirit cries stuck and In search and desire to go back and live this all over again and stuck trapped in delight there for eternity like a lost haunted ghost spirit!
@@staceyvickers9870 I totally agree. So much you brought tears to my eyes. We were so blessed to grow up with this generation of music. Even though most of these artist have passed out memories will never forget and will always be so grateful for the joy their music gave our lives. God bless the man who made the first DISCO BALL🤗
Barry said it was inspired by "A Summer Place".
Great..
The strings & rhythm guitar are what give this & several of their tracks the whole aura & feeling. Like another whole song happening subtly in the background of the main melodies. String & wind arrangements were so prevelant & caught on with so many artists. So much feel & emotion in them. They pull at your feelings. I think some casual music fans don't even realize it's why they like these songs so much.
The feelings & sounds from those arrangements are what stir all the feelings up for me. They're unique to the place & time. Mom & Dad, many others all still here & so young, so much good music, my young body is pain & ache free.......those sounds are so special. I'm there again.
🌈🥳🎉I was a child during the 1960s with the Supremes, Beatles and the Monkeys… Then disco rolled out in the early 1970s with KC and the sunshine band… In the mid1970s we had Donna Summer start her reign as the queen of disco… Saturday night fever came out and the spectacular soundtrack was heard everywhere around the world when people went out and danced up a storm of joy. That is where we need to go again!😻👍
I agree. The best years of my life. To be in that time again...
that intro is absolutely fire
"No more and no more" ,i catch myself dancing, the Disco Era is contagious !!!
Im 22 years old and i love 70s songs!!! So good to have fun!
I have a month old baby and I use this remix to soothe her to sleep. I gently drum the beat on her back and she’s out in a few minutes. Love everything on this channel. Cheers!
I bet this baby has a future in the music business. Just wait. ❤️😁
It works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I, ve a 7 month old grandson, whenever I listen this song he looks enjoying the beat
When my daughters were small I used to play music by Clannad in the bedroom, which is very peaceful and calming, and they loved it - my eldest daughter is 28 today (it sounds so weird to say that because it doesn't seem that long ago).
eventually that baby will be a rebellious teenager and smoke weed
That excitement of waiting for Saturday night to come. Planning with friends on what club to go to and what to wear. That was mostly our main focus since EVERYONE went out. It was amazing times. We knew we were going to be dancing all night. This song was part of an era that sadly is long gone, but the memories are there, especially when I get together with friends who were there. I’m 63 now. I miss the big dance clubs.
We were so lucky to be in our 20's back then, young, feeling almost immortal, going out dancing several times a week. I lived near Manhattan, so there was always a club somewhere that was open till dawn; then out for breakfast, and finally to bed, exhausted from the night. 54, Roseland, so many more. I get up at weddings and parties with someone who remembers how to hustle, get out on the floor first, and the youngsters stand there in shock, because all they can do is twerk. Nobody today knows how to 'touch dance'.
HEy Mike your right ! I'm 54 and remember going to Chauncys in Pittsburgh in the late 80's, 90's and early 2K and they would have a local radio station that would do a Saturday Nite Fever Disco Dance radio show from 9-midnight then continue till 2am afterward. Me and my crew would dance the night away to disco as it made a comeback then. Those were the days. I wish I could go back in time to relive those days of youth and carefree days. Fortunately some of the Clubs in Pittsburgh still do disco as it never lost popularity among us baby boomers. Long live the 70's and 80's Disco !!
@@mrpittsburghpi why the hell wouldn't someone just redo it? No tv, no cell phones, no rap music...just the music, the lights and the drinks? also anyone remember "roller disco"...when I tell kids about it they think it sounds awesome...hear from parents all the time "nothing to do" with the kids
Only Saturday?! Forget about it. In the 80s, in Germany, I clubbed with my German friends every single week from Thursday thru Sunday; Often more than one club a night. We then added Wednesday--Aschaffenburg!!!. Occasionally enough we'd club Monday thru Sunday. Oh what a time to have been alive. Thank you God!
The 80s: _Lived 'em. Loved 'em. Miss 'em._
@@andrefecteau Yeah I remember "Roller Disco.! where I lived we had 5 roller rinks to go to so there was always great music to skate to. When I tell my kids about the 80's and all the roller rinks I went to, they told me I lived in such a great time and that it must have been fun to go all the roller rinks as 2 of the 1's I went to have since unfortunately burned down and the other 3 closed in the 90's and early 200's. Those were the days of carefree youth , fun and simpler times. Too bad we can't go back , even if just to visit for a day would be great !
and here's DJDiscoCat again......like a true jeweler he shapes , scrapes and shaves those already gorgeous `diamonds` and turns them into an even better , more beautiful and magnificent piece......hatts off to You !!!

How true

When i was 18years old, I listened to music of Bee Gees songs everyday. I watched the movie “ Saturday Night Fever “ . The Bee Gees is my life.
I was lucky to be born in 1960 and had a great childhood , then the disco boom in my teens and wow from that day on, so so lucky to have lived in them times. kids of today are missing out with the rubbish they have to listen to. lets hope DISCO rocks again and cheers up new generations . Love The Bee Gees and I have downloaded their greatest hit songs on my Apple iPhone so I can listen to them no matter where I am!!! I love this channel, nothing like the 1970s, they don't make music like this anymore,we only have one member of the Bee Gees left, long life to Barry Gibb
Love this version. They don't pay instruments like that anymore. Bravo.
For people born in the late fifties, who were teenagers, in their early 20's in the seventies disco music was the soundtrack too our lives.
It still lives on, and this track sums it all up.

So privileged to have been born in the 50's as I've lived through it all. Apollo 11, Concorde, disco, soul.
And still going to talk about it. Feeling lucky.
Listening to this bring back those good vibes of that era. We need a time machine, things aren't just the same in 2022. Yes the 70's, 80's and 90's had it problems, but society was much kinder and music was so much more.
Fun times, not so many worries back in the day. This is a time machine!! Thanks, DJDisco Cat.
The 70's will never die.🤟🤟
As diamonds r forever so is 70,80 cause it was ours era dynamic as we r still and till tomorrow
Serious significant contribution is done there by disco purrfiction, lately.
I was 14 when the movie came out, we used to sit at night in summer outside our home with all the other teens and blast the boom box and enjoying the Bee Gees, great times!!!
This is so awesome!!! These guys where amazing in concert!!! I wouldn’t trade it for a million dollars!!!

Ojala la discoteca reviva y traiga de regresé un poco de los 70'.❤
I feel sorry for the kids today. They will never know what this felt like in the 70’s.
I try to feel that sometimes ;)

So explain what did it feel like? Was it the fact that you couldn't just listen to it whenever you wanted unless you had the record? Was it the fact that it was so new and different? Or is it just nostalgia talkin
@@philosopherchezmi8986 ok, what it felt like was that everyone was on the same plane..you went out and actually met people at the clubs that pumped this shi+ all fkn night, you had to have game, you didn't give a fuk what happened in DC, no one was on a fkn phone...you looked forward to the weekend so you could go party and dance and some gangsta didn't try to shoot ur ass....you starting to feel me?

The Best Dance Music Ever!
The one thing I love about this mix is how is allows you to savour all its elements one by one, with plenty of space. The way they managed to squeeze such a smooth groove out of a tape loop is nothing short of miraculous. Besides, Mo's Rickenbacker basslines are as tasteful as always, and Blue Weaver's keyboard work and his extensive chord knowledge is IMHO the secret weapon of their disco days. Elegant, complex, colourful, non-invasive.

Wow my childhood song! 😍 Still magical!
Growing up a kid, Star Wars in the theatre, Bee Gees on the Radio, SNL on TV.
You had to be there to experience it
I was there, bro! (^;
Absolutely
One of the most important musical inspirations on me as a young man. Nothing better than that!!
Love this remix. Bring back so many good memories. Can’t help it but keep moving my body
I heard this song during the 1977 I was 5 years old travel from new Jersey to South Carolina and I still listen to this today. Great memories 👍
Hell yeah!!! Great Music 🎶🎼🎵!!! Takes me Back!!!!! I'm 69 still Rock n Roll!!!! Jam All kinds of Rock n Roll!!! It's my Life!! Till I go sleep for good
I love the bassline ❤
Can't get enough of the BeeGees 😍👌
I'm watching this in 2.023. I'm 83 years old and still love the Bee Gees.
this makes me feel like crying strangely... i'm longing for a time i never lived through. i can't imagine how perfect it must've been, just for a moment, dancing to this song in a club
It was a great time!
I absolutely understand!! I was born in the 2nd to the last month, in the last year of the 70's. Missed all of it! I love this kind of music and I love to dance!!! I know I would've killed it under that disco ball too LOL
It was the bomb. Love was in the air and people knew how to just relax and have a good time. We did not have all this rage and tribalism. Sure there were cliques, and jealous lovers, but we all gave each other a pass and the party was on. Sorry you missed it, but maybe some generation will put down the phone and connect for real.
You had to be there to experience this,it was good times
zoomy sketchbook I totally understand. What helps me as crazy as it sounds is imagining random things and places that people in that time probably didn’t even think twice about. If you close your eyes and put them all together you’re there. I was born in 1980 and I know what I would’ve been like in the 70s...gorgeous and fun loving lol. Imagination is our best friend. See you at Studio 54 lol..
I like these longer Disco versions, nice to just sit and listen to them, and be taken back to the 70's.
RakinBill same here.
Forever 70
Agree Terrific work Thanks so much
YESSSSS!!!!
Exactly. Thank you
Nothing screams the seventies like this bee Gees tune. We had problems in those days with unforgettably wonderful music. I'm happy to have lived this Era its still awesome.
I have never heard this version of this song before ,i love it......,and the wife is dancing to it now
This version is the best one out there.
Takes me back to my disco queen days, tearing up the dance floor. How things have changed, now I can hardly walk. Wish I had a tenth of that strength and stamina.
This song will never get old
I absolutely agree 😎😎
Because the rhythm is too good and unfuckable.
Never will
Between this and Grease you're right it will never get old!
From Russia with love! This version is the greatest one!!! Night fever is forever!!!
Don't know how many times ive listen to this mix just totally love it so bad ass of disco music greatest & best years was the 1960 & 1970 , thought ive was born in 1967 so proud to be a 1960 child these people now day don't understand our music so don't hate because we're have the coolest music around , DJ DISCO CAT YOU TOTALLY ROCK
2024 still remember doing Disco. Love this Song.
Era hermoso ir a la Disco y bailar esta bella música, recuerdos hermosos y nostálgicos
Nice to hear this one again, and to remember those times now 45 years ago. Nice to hear and to dance it too. The Bee Gees were great really
Love this at the disco ..working in a Nightclub, this certainly never will die! Top tune 👌 👏
I love this version. The other night, my friend and I were having a video chat, and at some point she said, "Jake, quit hitting "repeat" on this song!" I then said to her, "Vicki, this is the extended mix. We get much more Bee Gees here." she then said, "Oh, well, shit, let's rock this party!" Yeah, we're only 38.:)
Does not how old u ar if healthy should dance has will take the blues a way,
@@vivhiggins5656 ,💯
I’m 39! This song reminds me of my Mom and me being little hearing all the disco hits growing up 💕
nigjht fever
lol, party again
Going Disco dancing was the best time of my life, wish i could get into a time machine and go back!❤😊
Very good version ..
Bee Gees .. simply unique!
Sending love from 🇬🇷
Ameeeeee, este mix, 24 años es mi edad y al escuchar la musica disco de los años 70,80,90's , es sensacional, aveces pienso que mi vida pasada fue en esa epoca, excelente video
Dude. I was there! Yeah, all the stories are true. Disco forever baby!
I was only a child when this was a big hit, but I remember it very well. What I'd give to be able to jump into a time machine & go right back to the simpler times of disco & the 70s. No cell phones, contstant texting, tablets, lap tops, e-mails to answer, etc. Only good music, clubs & pay telephone booths.
RIP to the two late Gibb brothers!
I couldn't agree more. So much for technology. They should have stopped when they made those ridiculously large mobile phones and pagers.
Right on!!
The greatest harmonic group ever...a league of their own!!
..... beatles??
Don't forget ABBA.
These guys and the below (the Beatles and the Abba) were just selling. They are all whites. I hate when the idiots think they can judge the music. When all musicians across races and places try all to show what matters.
BeeGees ROCKED. So glad I know how to drive and boogie at the same time!
