I played with Joe in the 80s. He was exactly how you hope he’d be. He offered me coke and I said “No thanks, I don’t” and Joe asked “when did you give up?” It didn’t occur to him that a guitar player in the 80s didn’t use drugs. I played with him when he was at his worst. No matter how wasted, he could still play.

I saw him at a Hells Angels benefit show at the old Ritz in Manhattan and I was standing with my elbows resting on the stage. I used to get to the front row of nearly eveyshow I went to during the 80`s and early 90`s. I was looking at their fingers to cop what they were up to. Don`t know if tou were there that night. A fuckin hot summer night man. Gimme a yell if you remember it!!

Joe did an opener for Foreigner back in 1985 at the Hampton Coliseum and the wife & I went ....the show was awesome. Before the show ...Joe did an interview with the local rock radio station. He gave the best interview and even called Stevie to ask her what she was doing ...it was a hoot. I love Joe and so glad he survived his crazy drug and alcohol days. I thank Stevie and The Eagles for helping him survive ...he is such a talent. Thanks for sharing this vid Kelly ...I like anything Joe :)

You got a new (and sober 14 yrs.) subscriber Kelly Dean, because Joe is THE REASON, I picked up the guitar back in 1979. He is still my main man! I hope to meet him one day soon, but I did shake his hand from my elbows on the lip of the stage at the old Ritz in Manhattan in 1988. I could look up his nose and get slapped with the sweat of him and his bass player that night. I miss that place!! Small venue with about 350-75 people standing (but for the bar or the balcony) it was AWESOME.

Their stories are just as good as the music. I was a kid to a young teen and bating down drug myself at 11 years old. Rock n Roll , Drugs, and then Sex. In that order for me. I feel just as lucky to be here myself and I hit the drugs hard into my mid 30's. No heroin thank goodness or meth. But everything else of the eras I did them. Pills, acid, weed, hash, cocaine, Sherm, mushrooms, ludes, alcohol, you name it. I was game. I'm lucky to still be here at age 55. All those concerts every weekend! Lifes Been to me So far!

This is a REALLY good instructive video and presented in a very doable way. The best videos on YT are made by true fans of the artists they're covering, and it shows in knowing the true fingerings and tendencies of playing a song.
This song intro is a guitar lesson in itself, so many textures and positions--with pulloffs, slides, bends, muted notes *and triplets. The best, I think, intro to a song for a new guitar player to learn a lot of essential skills. I tipped you a $20 señor KDA. *(added edit)

I've always felt like it's important to see an artist play their own music live. It's the chance for them to convey to the audience what they think is important in delivering the music from a single instrument and without the full sound of all the extra guitars in the studio track. Of course backing tracks ruin this live but being more of the original recorded music, if that's what you want. Not for me peronally.
