For populating in ascending order you can do also the following.
For example:
1. Type your number, 1, for example > Press and Hold CTRL button and hold and drag the cell down.
2. Simple formula. Type your number - (1) - in the cell, A1 for example.
Than in the next cell simply type the following formula: =A1+1 and after that just copy down.
This will allow you to ADD rows between the numbers later and simply just update the column.
