@@wjtruax thanks for the reply, you might want to check out his show on EWTN, very informative. That made him dig deeper which lead him to the Catholic Church. God Bless
Excellent discussion, Bryan, and William. John Calvin was the evil genius behind protestantism. Thanks to the grace of Almighty God, William, has discovered the one, true, Catholic, and apostolic church. Our Lady, Mirror of Justice, pray for us.
Good job, William! Baptism and the Lord’s Supper (Eucharist) are NOT “non-essential” doctrines. These Calvinists are in grave error. “Non-essential” disputes might entail “What time should we attend Mass? Evening, Morning, or Afternoon? 😊😊😊. Protestants are always forced to put faith in “their faith” rather than the faith: one holy catholic and apostolic. 🙏
To me, this quote sums up Protestantism: It happens that their tradition respecting redemption is invisible and incomprehensible, as being the mother of things which are incomprehensible and invisible; and on this account, since it is fluctuating, it is impossible simply and all at once to make known its nature, for every one of them hands it down just as his inclination prompts. Thus there are as many schemes of redemption as there are teachers of these mystical opinions. And when we come to refute them, we shall show in its fitting place, that this class of men have been instigated by Satan to a denial of that baptism which is regeneration to God, and thus to a renunciation of the whole [Christian] faith. - St Irenaeus of Lyons, Against Heresies, written in 170 AD.
How should we Catholics be taking the decline of the Anglican Church in Great Britain? And is there any data on trends for the Episcopal Churches in the US?
We should pray for the Anglican and Episcopal churches, that they see this decline as a sign to return home to the one, holy, Catholic and apostolic church. Secularism affects us all, and it is something that we should fight.
Which God are you talking about, It can't be the God of the Bible because he does believe God oversaw its integrity in place in into the hands of normal folks. "Purified Seven Times, The Miracle of the English Bible"- Bill Bradley 1384- John Wycliffe translates the whole Bible into English for the first time in history. The "Church repays him by condemning him as a " heretic". 1536- William Tyndale was burned as a heretic for his Bible translation of the first printed English scriptures. 1537- Myles Coverdale's Bible translation was published "with the King's most gracious license.". Later, during "Bloody Mary's" reign, he was hunted for his life and forced to flee England. 1539- Coverdale's "The Great Bible" chained to the pulpits by order of King Henry VIII. Christians were executed for reading the Bible without a license. 1555- John Rogers was burned to death for publishing Matthew's Bible; became the first victim of "Bloody Mary" Queen of England. 1560- Queen Mary commands all "heretics" to return to Romanism or face the consequences. Many flee to Geneva, and the exiled church leaders produce the Geneva Bible. 1611- The seventh major English translation of the Scriptures, the King James Bible, is published and adopted as the authorized version by the people of God as the word of God for the English-speaking world. "Purified Seven Times". ......King James gunpowder plot, Masons / Jesuits attempt to stop the translation of the KJV. (PS 12:6, Eccl 8:4)
Scholars like Kipp Davis say that Psalm 22:16 in the Dead Sea Scrolls and Septuagint was a typo and it should say, “For dogs are all around me; a company of evildoers encircles me. They are like lions at my hands and my feet; I can count all my bones,” instead of “For dogs are all around me; a company of evildoers encircles me. They have pierced my hands and my feet; I can count all my bones.” Is this true? What’s your stance on this and how should we take it?
No Catholic takes it well. It's never a good thing when someone is disobedient to the church and to God. When they want to do their own thing. We pray for them though. And the pope is trying to be merciful but I don't think that'll work but for so long.
Is the NTL a bad translation? The translation of Deuteronomy 22:28-29 is different between the NLT and NRSV and it concerns me of what it implies: “Suppose a man has intercourse with a young woman who is a virgin but is not engaged to be married. If they are discovered, he must pay her father fifty pieces of silver. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he may never divorce her as long as he lives.” (NLT) “If a man meets a virgin who is not engaged and seizes her and lies with her, and they are discovered, the man who lay with her shall give fifty shekels of silver to the young woman’s father, and she shall become his wife. Because he violated her, he shall not be permitted to divorce her as long as he lives.” (NRSV)
It's a terrible bible. I don't even know if I would consider it a Bible as it's a watered down version of Scripture. Look up what Trent horn has to say about it. He covers all of these difficult passages in his book, hard sayings. But you can probably find what he says about it online as well.
@@CatholicTruthOfficial I have the book with me, and he doesn’t address the passage in the “Anti-Women?” chapter, unless is there a different chapter I should look at?
@@CatholicTruthOfficial Also to say, I can’t help but think that someone in Ancient Israel might have potentially abused that law to create a harem for himself.
I used to hold to that, too. But too many of Jesus’ own parables clearly mitigate against it. I appreciate that the underlying desire of Calvinist theology is to glorify and clearly proclaim Divine sovereignty over every aspect of time, creation, and history. No devout and knowledgeable Catholic would argue against Divine sovereignty being absolute. Calvin’s philosophical problem is that he believed that it was a zero-sum game - that any human free will at all made Divine sovereignty conditional, and therefore not absolute, and thus, non-existent. His position was “either…or.” You can have Divine sovereignty or human free will, but you can’t have both. Since we want to honor God, Divine sovereignty takes it all. Scripture clearly teaches a “both…and” position: Absolute Divine sovereignty and human free will. How does that work? It is a paradox from a human standpoint - which means that it is true even though it appears to be a contradiction. That “both…and” concept is found throughout Jesus’ teachings. We don’t have to go with only one or try to split the difference. We just need to be faithful to Christ.
I’ve noticed that who ever reads scriptures thinks that God will not allow pain suffering stress difficulties loss of life hardships stress and so on and so on,for those who think that God does not allow these things to happen in your life is deceived and doesn’t understand scripture much at all,I just hope that people realize that our God and Lord Jesus Christ went through enormous pains and sufferings throughout his life all the way up to his death, which fulfilled what he said in the scriptures he who loves his life shall lose it and he who loses his life for my sake shall find life.God owes us humans nothing but rather we owe God everything meaning all kinds of sufferings and pain we have to except for penance and confession to atone and make reparations for our sins that we humans commit when ever we commit it in our daily lives?
Suffering is a conduit for greater holiness, and we should dedicate the little sufferings we endure to God, in the hopes that it will bring us closer to Him. Suffering is an integral part of Christianity, of following the Triune God. Not to say that we should ask for suffering, but any suffering we receive should be appreciated and weathered. Thanks for watching, God bless you!
