I had BYD sealion, toyota rav4 and mitsu outlander here in oz.both hybrids. All i can say is sealion was way best in performance, handling, comfort and fuel efficiency. Plus technology. Good quality material Value for money.

MOST Chinese brands since its 2019 relaunching has BETTER build quality and durability than leading brands' Daihatsu product. Parts availability na lang ang kulang. Although meron na sa several stores at meron din online e iba parain talaga parts availability ng leading brands na kahit pipitsuging talyer e merong stock. Pero wag mo lang ibabangga ang sasakyan e meron nang parts yung mga PMS at yung mga wear and tear na parts e meron lahat sa lazada/shoppee.

Possible na ung 1k range capacity e d aabot pg once full pack ung sasakyan. meaning 5-6 passengers plus ung mga bagahe. For sure there's an impact when it comes to the load.
Well technically all other brands as well. If at all having BIG HP and Torque numbers will favor this car over lets say Wigo thats a small engine that will be thirstier if fully loaded kasi laging high rev lalo na kung maraming ahon.

The full-EV version of this car, the Seal U (Sealion 6 = Seal U in other markets), which shares the same platform has achieved the maximum of 5-star safety rating sa Euro NCAP. You read that right, Euro NCAP. Mga puti yung nag-test kaya magtitiwala ka naman siguro.

Does it charge the battery ba if you switch it to gas?
There is no option switching to gas only. PHEV DM-i works differently. There are two settings available when driving, EV mode or HEV mode. In EV mode, it will use the battery only, until it depletes to 25% then it will automatically switch to HEV and run in series hybrid charging the battery. You can maximise the battery usage by setting Max EV drive mode which depletes the battery further up to 10% but this is not recommended as it will lose power and torque due to low battery (This is the common complaints in China "Hybrid mode switch" as owners do not know how DM-i works and how to use it🤷♂). In HEV mode, the system will try to use all 3 modes (EV, Series Hybrid at low speeds, Parallel Hybrid at higher speeds) depending on your driving behavior but it will try to use the battery as much as possible to be efficient. Both modes also use regenerative braking to charge the battery. You can search online for "Multi-System Coupling DMi Hybrid Vehicle Modeling and Its Performance Analysis Based on Simulation" for more information about how DM-i works. You may also see some owners online complaining about poor performance/torque when climbing up hill on this vehicle, but again this is due to not fully understanding PHEV systems. There is a battery SOC setting for this vehicle with two options, AUTO or SAVE. With Auto function, DM-i will try to use the battery as much as possible until the battery is depleted to 25%. With Save function, you can set your preferred battery State Of Charge between 25% to 75%. So if you know you will be driving up a hill or lots of acceleration, then you can set the SOC higher like 70%. This way the system will try to keep charging and maintain the battery at 70% for better performance. 😜

difference sir with the kicks, sealion 6 ICE engine gives power din sa front wheels. Si kicks purely generator lang yung engine.
BYD DM-i works in 3 different modes. EV mode, Series hybrid (Kicks) and Parallel hybrid (Yaris Cross) only at higher speeds. Search for "Multi-System Coupling DMi Hybrid Vehicle Modeling" for diagrams and how it works. There is also a DM-i teardown video in YT (in Chinese). Just put subtitles for translation.🙂

Chinese brands attracting people for the technology thats why people forget to think the car’s reliability. Baka less than a month lng my mga problema na yan sa mga systems, ung mga door handle sensor etc ay hndi na gagana. Always think china they always do quantity over quality while japanese cars are always made of very quality works they have a good reputations that Chinese doesn’t have.

That's what you call niche. Even in the 90s, the Chinese counterpart for example of a video camera, had so much more features than the usual brands. Japan, USA, and South Korea can't compete directly with the car pioneers (Europeans) in terms of "brand" so they have to price their cars cheaper and undercut the Europeans. There's a reason why Lexus and Genesis can't price the majority of their cars the same price as Mercedes/BMW/Maserati. Kung parehas presyo, people would just buy Mercedes/BMW/Maserati because of “brand.” Ganun din po sa Chinese cars, they've already found their niche and place in the market. Many car brands only showcase their best tech and best materials on their expensive models, and the Chinese brands saw that as an opportunity.

BYD is the biggest car brand in China, among hundreds. It also has strong presence in western countries, and will likely dominate Asian market in the near future. They have not reached this point if they sell subpar vehicles.
China's automotive industry has made significant leaps and bounds since 2018. BYD, initially specializing in batteries, has been developing electric and hybrid vehicles for over a decade. Their hybrid technology has already evolved to the 6th generation. Interestingly, Toyota's BZ3 electric vehicle is actually manufactured by BYD, with only the Toyota logo differentiating it.
