Thought I would utilize the ebike again, this time to hit Burnside Upper just outside Aviemore.
I've been here before and loved it, but never with the assistance of an ebike, which proved to be very handy as the climbs are quite tough.
I also took the chance to test out my new grip shifter and Eddie Current rear tire.

These trails look like fun! I've been wanting to ride in the Cairngorms for ages. Thanks for the vid 👍🏻- Chris
love watching your channel .. we are living here in Australia now but from the north east of England. Cheers
Hope I should you a wee slice of the UK then 👍
Excellent video as usual. Thanks for letting us know about the firmware update 😁. The footage looked excellent on the chest and I’m going to test that out ASAP.
Pretty impressive I reckon. Only going to get better too 👍
Great ride again, looks so much fun
Thanks Vinny
Been riding Eddie Current front n rear for 2 years now & I have absolutely ZERO complaints. Awesome rubber but an absolute pig to fit on the rim I agree. Great ride as usual. Thanks.
I will be delighted if I can get two years out of mine 👍 I think I will wear the tread down before the casing gives up.
Very awesome trails bro, throw in some skinny's and wooden features you got the Northshore for sure right there.
Through in skinnies, and I’m out 😳😜
Really nice trails, the last trail was even better with the GoPro on your chest.😊 x
Thanks mum, I quite like the chest mount too 👍
Top vid , love your style , Scotland is amazing !!
Thanks Paul
Those Burnside trails are ace. V impressed with your run down NziGld having tried it for the first time a few weeks ago, it is v challenging but so good.
It’s tough but fair I’d say😜
I was riding these trails a few days ago when I was up at Inverness on holiday only if I had stayed a couple more days I could have seen u :(
Tbh I was most likely up there before you, I record these in advance and put them in Patreon first.
I'm really fancying an e-bike. Nice video as allways. 👍🏻
Get one! They are genuinely love changing🤗
Looks epic 😍
And it is 👍
Great riding Andrew. A Mate of mine has a Shimano motor on his Merida. The last bar drops within minutes on his also. When he gets down to bars he's cautious of the fact he doesn't have a lot left. As for the Eddy Current's, i've had them on my Levo for about seven months and they are solid! 👍
*to two bars*
Hmm, seems I may have to look into an alternative way of monitoring the battery then. Can’t be running out all the time😜
Good news on the tyres though 👍
Good video and bike.que buenos bosques para rodar..un gran saludo desde España....
sí, maderas perfectas para andar en bicicleta👌
Its Very Nice Trail. Congreats 👏👏👏
The boys done a great job 👍
The upgrade on the gopro looks great. Bodes well if it tells anything of what's to expect fore the nine.
Quite impressive, especially as it’s still in Beta form 👍
Last bar lasts a decent amount of time on my canyon. Nothing like as long as the others though. You get time on it flashing zero on mine too. E8000 motor with E7000 screen and buttons.
I went Michelin e-wild over the Eddy as I couldn't find one a few months back. Superb so far if a little heavy versus the DHR2 on there before
To be fair, I am just using the display on the external battery itself, so my results might not be as accurate.
I think the Eddie Current is even heavier than the E-Wild. The price you pay for strength I suppose.
Great stuff...........apart from the grip shifter obviously 😉
Grip shifter’s rule though😜
Loved my Gripshifts, much quicker for big shifts up and down the cassette.
They definitely have their place.
I’ll have to go back, last time I was up there was in February in the ice and snow as well.
Definitely rides nicer in the dry 😜
Enjoyed that 👍
Good to hear
that street you rolled down at the start of the video looked oddly familiar
Had my dhr 2.8 rip after two months use on my new bike. Never happened once in 8 years with schwalbes previously.
Sounds about right 😜 I’m sure I’ll manage to puncture the Schwalbe soon enough 😄
Can't not focus on that thing top left of camera lol. 😂 What even is it?
Epic video though, power on that ebike man!!!!
It's his false eyelashes.
Or the mic hamster to stop wind noise.
😄😄 it’s the wind cover for the mics, thought I had trimmed it enough, but obviously not🤦🏼♂️
@@McTrailRider 🤣🤣🤣👍 I was like "is that his beard.... Or nose hair haha"
The last bar on my Canyons the same. First bar is the complete opposite, I’d say once I drop to 4 thats nearly 50% of my battery gone.
Gotta love that consistency 😜
Awesome trails and riding as always, e bike took it well 😊😊 did you stay in Aviemore or travel to and from? Fair bit to travel.
Thanks Dave, I traveled up and back in one day, yes a lot of travel but I don’t have the camper anymore and I’m yet to kit out the van.
Great videos! I've noticed a new helmet. Giro Switchblade? What's it like?
Yeah, back on the Giro, I really like it. Only down side is that it gets hot, so not ideal for 20 plus degrees Celsius.
I've lost NX and SX shifters in recent months to PRECISELY the same issue, my current is held on with a cable tie. I'm going Shimano, you can run a Shimano 12 spd shifter with Eagle anyway.
Good to know re the Shimano shifter 👍 I believe the older 11 speed was not compatible.
@@McTrailRider loads of stuff online about Shimano 12 speed and Eagle working. Some combos work better than others, shifter/cassette/derailleur in various permutations.
All that said though SLX only costs a few hundred quid, XT is a great price too. Only sticking problem is the cassette (microspline freehub) so I think I'd just wear my Eagle one out first using Shimano for everything else and go from there. As you can tell I'm totally with you Andy, SRAMs jump from GX to XO/XX is ludicrous.
I can usualy get 16km on the road out of my last bar on the e8000. I rely on it to get me back from the @local@ trails i have here. Offroad it is very different of course. I have also turned my asist and tourque levels down a bit
I’ve heard such mixed experiences from people now, you seem to have a better deal than most 👍
@@McTrailRider to be fair though, that's 16km flat or downhill, but yeah. Seems to be a lottery.
Hi if you have time or inclination to do a wee vid on grip selector how too and what it intails. ..... no worries if you can't cheers from cheers from dave...
Tbh, I probably won’t. It’s honestly very simple and straightforward though. Just depends if you can get used to it or not really.
I use XO grip shift on my hardtail, its fast easy and rarely have unintentional shifts
That’s what I like to hear 👌
@@McTrailRider you can use whatever grips just cut the shifter side to the length you want,I am using lizard skins NS 👍
Is the gripshift quite a light action? Any issues in the wet with your hand slipping? Good video, thanks
Yes, nice and light. Not ridden in the wet with it yet, time will tell.
Planning a big Cairngorm mountain day out with some mates. What route would you recommend for a great decent? Ben MacDui any good? Loch Muick? Cheers
Not done Ben MacDui yet but it is meant to be very good. Loch Muick is one I would highly recommend.
@@McTrailRider thanks for the reply. Might try Loch Muick 👍🏼
Nice brother, but give me this kind of trails and my Gambler gonna show to this E-PIVOT the real thing ;)
If you say so 😜
@@McTrailRider 😜🤯
Hey mate. What sunglasses do you use? Are they Oakley jawbreakers? Rate them much?
Yes, Oakley jawbreakers, I rate them highly 👍
Awesome film Andrew
Some steep tight rocky tests in there! As soon as you said grip shift, I thought "I'm sure Andrew loved them on the Guide!" Are you running tubeless with the Eddie Currents, or Tannus armour? Incidentally, just thought you maybe interested to know, Tannus have just introduced Tannus tubeless, here's a link
tannusamerica.com/pages/tannus-armour-tubeless
Cheers Andrew top stuff as always
Daron
Yep, quite happy with grip shift and did enjoy it on the Guide 👍
The tyre is just running standard tubeless, don’t think it needs anything else, although that Tannus system looks really good 👍
Another banger from you. Just me or do the brakes sound rough as fuck?
The brakes don’t sound great, that’s for sure. I think I will change them when I get the chance, to hit or miss for my liking.
Is he on a e bike
Yep
tyre looks like it needs an ebike to get it to move properly lol
Pretty much 😜
Good video and trails, but i have to say i wasnt a fan of the camera change you did near the end. still quite shaky and the perspective feels a bit weird somehow.
That’s fair. I thought it was mightily impressive considering the situation, but it’s not as good as the chin mount.
These trails look like fun! I've been wanting to ride in the Cairngorms for ages. Thanks for the vid 👍🏻- Chris
Fantastic trails, well worth a visit 👍
