Good to hear. Dodge did a good job switching to the ZF8HP so you’ll love the trans in the M340i. For what it is, it’s an impressive car. I think the stock turbo record is 570whp on an xDrive M340i, not sure if it was measured using rwd or awd, but it’s capable of making impressive power.
Unfortunately the comparison isn’t really fair - the M4 is a manual (and shifting a little slow in places). Every time a manual lefts off the pedal, the turbos lose momentum. Considering the S55 gets most of its power, especially a stage 1 tune, from the turbo, it’s going to make a bit difference comparing auto B58 vs Manual S55. The DCT would have a significant advantage in this comparison.

Man this makes me wanna get bm3 stage 1 but I live in CA and have to smog. I hear horror stories of them catching people with tunes and then having to go to bmw dealership to reflash their DME to stock which is like $300+. But I want that power….
A stage one tune is safe on a stock car the only way they would know your car is tuned is if you have crazy burbles which i wouldn’t do since you would have catted downpipes. Bm3 is easy to use and you can flash back to stock easily with your phone

The dinan sport tuner i had wasnt a proper tune with bm3 i was able to get custom calibration for the mods i had. If i were you id go with ecutek or mhd or bm3

Don’t get me wrong, they’re amazing at what they do, and certain cars would be laughable with manuals now a days lol, but I always wonder if anyone feels the same? Auto or manual drivers? Again not trying to sound like a manual supremacist lol just curious
stage 2 is a bit too general. You can have e50 tunes and that's a high 10 second car with a decent DA. 91 vs 93 (or equivalent in other countries outside US) pale in comparison. Still awesome for the M4 either way
2020 is the only year depending on build date that you do not have to send your ECU to FEMTO for a true custom tune. Thats why I plan on going ECUTEK and Pure 800 on my 2020 M340i. All the newer 21+ B58's for all models ECU's have not been unlocked yet, unless you ship the ECU to Russia.

Not really! unless you go E85 with upgraded turbos, there is not much of a power jump from stage 1 to stage 2 with the S55.
