    I found the 3 piles of 13 cards on another channel, probably how I stumbled on your video, but you explained it so much better! I was going to give the idea a miss until you went over it and it makes much more sense. Thank you! I definitely will be using both the calendar spread and the “yes-no” spread for future readings! Love this! I never delved into it in your book and deck when I purchased it years ago... Now getting back into your magnificent writing! Thank you. One question re this spread. How does it work with regards to an actual question? In your book you say that if you know a period of time, then no need for the Cat Card. But how would a question look when using the Cat Card? Is it always a timing question? And would it be something like "when will X happen?" or "How long until..." or "what will happen between now and X?"

    • @AnaCortez
      @AnaCortez  2 года назад +2

      Hi Ryan the Wizard! So sorry this reply is so late:-)) Great question. Really, the question can look like almost anything. I draw the Cat Spread (Calendar Spread) for almost every question, because I like to peek into the future as regards any subject. The only time I tend not to is if the person has an urgent question, and the present time would be the most relevant. But of course, even the cards off the top of the deck that represent the present, are using the same calendar feature. Trust your intuition, as to whether to cut in or not.

      Although there are ways a person could devise to work with predictions in coming years, I would not recommend it. Yes, it is generally the last file which is to be interpreted. The four open cards together give you a four week picture, essentially a one lunar cycle time period. Would like to get your opinion on using this method with 52 days or 52 hours time frame. Have you considered using this method on 52 hours time frame or 52 months time frame?
    Even otherwise, any input on shifting the time frame would be received with gratitude.
    TQ for spreading this method.

      Hi TQ,
      thanks so much for your question. First, I think any experimentation is a good thing. So you could try the 52 days or hours and just see if the deck seems to respond. As far as any other input with shifting the time frame, YES, there is another way I am working with right now, but it will be revealed in the upcoming book, being written. • @AnaCortez
      @AnaCortez  2 года назад

      Hi Sigrid. Thanks for your question and thanks for watching.
      This is a slightly complicated question. Yes and No. I believe events that are yet to happen years away do leave traces in the year at hand, since time is actually circular. BUT, in general, the deck seems to work best as a 1 year calendar, since I believe time is fluid, and we can change the future. So best to not look too far ahead.
      Thanks again

    When making the cut, I always find that the cut tends to be in roughly the same place - about the centre of the pack. It seems unlikely that I'd be able to just cut one card, for instance, which would mean that the reading would tend to never predict an event coming up within one week. Is there some way to get around this?

    • @AnaCortez
      @AnaCortez  6 лет назад +3

      Awesome question. In working with lots of different people with this layout, my experience is people cut all over the place, but you're right, unlikely to cut one card down. I most always turn over the first 4 cards off the top of the deck, as well as the cards indicated by the cut, because I want to see the present time. Maybe 6 months from now is significant for you!

    • @maxdeniroAu

    I have done a calendar reading while in jail to see roughly when we will be getting released and it's a bit different than this. Love this one tho. Sorry for long post.
    I would love to run across the one from jail online sometime to see the actual meanings of the cards and layout. Curious...would you be able to happen to know or be able to point me in a good direction to find the layout and meanings to the one I learned in jail? We shuffle the deck while focusing on "When we will be released from jail" or something along those lines and lay out the cards from the top of deck, face up. 7 rows across (each day of week) and end at how many days in the month (30 for this month). Remove pairs of cards that are touching (diagonal, up/dow, side/side), re-align and move cards up when out of matches. Add more cards to total the # of days in month and repeat until no more matches. But never removing the Q of hearts and A of spades. Once no more pairs can be removed then remove the high cards (K, Q, J, A) but leaving the Q hearts and A spades. Re-align again and remove matches that are touching. Then finally after re-aligning again, remove all multiple cards leaving 1 card of different suits. Depending on what's left you add the cards up to see how long you could be in jail for. IE: 3 and 1 besides the Q and A we kept = 4, so 4 hours, 4 days, 4 weeks, ect. The person who showed it to us couldn't remember the exact reading. Some say it depends on where the cards are in correspondence with the Q and A to show time already served and time left. No one had a for sure answer on how to read the cards.
    Thanks for the help and many thanks for showing us this video. I will definitely be trying it out soon

      Thanks for writing! So glad you are able to view this video.
      I am not familiar with the method you are describing, laying out 7 rows, etc...
      I like to use the deck more simply, using the geometries already in the deck in a very straightforward way. The information received this way is very accurate.
      Thanks again and so glad you are working with the playing deck.

    So this technique seems to be dependent on the conscious act of splitting the deck. Splitting the deck in equal halves will more or less equal half a year. It's rather predictable. Is there a way to do this unconsciously, so that when the deck is split, it's in a totally random spot? This method seems to open the probability of being very deliberate. I hope that made sense. I'm curious where you learned this technique. It's fascinating nonetheless.

    • @AnaCortez
      @AnaCortez  5 лет назад +6

      Hi Marilyn. Learned this original technique from my father who was a medium and an occultist. Yes, when you're reading for yourself being more "deliberate" or "conscious" during the cut is a danger. But nonetheless the technique still works even if you "choose" a date more consciously! For myself, I like the cards to give me a date that is important, one that I do not choose, so for myself I sort of "check out" mentally during the cut and just watch my hands cut. Like watching my hands from a distance. This is my technique and works for me. May take some practice. or as mentioned, it's okay to consciously choose a date:-)) Hope this helps. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching the video :-))

      @@AnaCortez The reason I found your channel (and I've ordered your deck and book btw :), Is because I am looking for a system of timing to use with my own practice of tarot. I've been reading tarot for 44 years and I've been collecting playing cards even longer. When I teach tarot classes, I begin by igniting my class with passion for playing cards as a precursor to tarot, and also because of the amazing numerical correspondence that a simple deck of playing cards has to the cycle of the earth, etc. It seems to me that there must be a way of isolating a date with the cards, but I just cant figure it out. (In example, the Ace of Hearts to mean the first day of April, or whatever, that was just a random date. My suit associations are quite different than your system, coming from so many years in the tarot tradition I think I may not be able to shake my associations which are deeply ingrained in my psyche. Do you know what I mean? It may be too late to teach this old crone new tricks, but I'm fascinated nonetheless and will jump in whole heartedly since cartomancy has been a life long fascination for me and sometimes concepts overlap. Really any numeric system fascinates me, dice, dominoes, cards, I collect them all lol. I'm very happy to have found your site and I will recommend it to others. xoxo ~ Marilyn from Tarot Clarity

      @@MarilynFromTarotClarity Hi and thanks for writing. I admire your bravery in delving in whole heartedly after so long reading with the Tarot. Yes, I can imagine learning new associations for suits would be challenging. This is a challenge that many coming to The Playing Card Oracles encounter. Perhaps if you think of it is a brand new creature, something very different than your other work, this may help. That would be my recommendation. Then you can take from the new system what works and assists with your Tarot craft. Thanks again for your comment and I'm looking forward to hearing more as you continue on your journey.
