  • Not just a marble battle, but the entire war.
    Armies travel randomly across the map, engaging in combat if they meet. Once conquered, towns will produce more fighters for the player. Whenever the army goes to the home city or an friendly town, it will reinforce itself with fighters.
    If an army is defeated, it will retreat to its home city to regroup.
    If a player's home city is attacked, the king will join in the defense. If the king is slain, the city will be lost, and the remaining fighters will form flee as a new army.
    If a player has no home city whenever an army is defeated, that army is permanently destroyed.
    Fighters gain experience by scoring kills. If a fighter gains enough experience it will level up, gaining perks like additional hit points, speed and/or equipment.
    Destroy all the enemy kings and armies to win!

    Captian Penthesilea studied the ways of the vagrant known as Agobard from a long time past. But in an effort to prove herself as the best, she fought an enemy too great a number and too powerful of strength. Almost as if the gods gave that army a favor for nothing.

      Kind of reminds me of Dian Wei from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Nobody could take him on hand to hand so in the end all they could do was shoot him full of arrows, and even then they were afraid to approach his body in case he might not have been fully dead.

    New and revamped terrain for the world-map;
    Swamps; the larger your army, the slower your army travels through it.
    Forests: only allows armies that are below 30 to pass through, otherwise they bounce.
    Brairs: damages all units in an army that passes through it.
    Deserts: slowly kills off units in any army that is less than 20 while in transit.
    Town: randomly adds units in an army by a percentage of that army. Units professions added are limited by the type of units within the army.
    More could be added depending on who's mad enough to care! :>

      good ones: what if the mage had multiple spells they can cast like:
      lava: leaves a lava pool that burns enemies that touch it
      fire: already there
      water: leaves a pool of water that slows enemies
      ice: freezes enemies hit for a limited time
      heal: heals allies
      possibly a poison spell or a unit that inflicts poison. (damage overtime)
      units:
      necromancers: summons the undead to fight for them.
      maybe you could have level ups happen easier but they are less effective.
      with that what if the units weapons/armor changed to better material when they level up or maybe the the better weapons/armor could be picked up when the unit dies the materials could be:
      wood -> stone -> bronze -> silver -> gold -> ruby -> diamond -> something else that is better.
      the neutral army that gives upgrades could get better over time.
      boss type marbles that are very strong most likely only neutral though
      you do not need to use any of these ideas if you don't want to though

      @@thecoolbird13 well, my thinking is that the more people you have in an army, the more resources like water, food, and shelter you can carry.
      Think of it this way; who do you expect to last longer in an infinite desert? A small army with provisions equal to their unit size, or a large army with numerous resources?

    Having one upgrade giving the entire army a level seems extremely op because yellow just wreaked everything after that first army level up

      It doesn't give an entire level. Look at 15:58, Yellow had 95 troops but very clearly only 24 of them leveled up.
      It gives experience equal to the amount required for the first level-up. That is balanced.

    Something I liked in a previous version of this was how armies would retreat rather than eat obscene casulaties, would be great to see that again!

    Well, I see 3 problems with the Extra Exp Upgrade :
    1 - Giving experience equivalent to the first level to each marble is really overpowered in a massive army (yellow in that case)
    2 - Having an army of named marble make it illisible
    3 - We love to cheer at some marble that can change the war just by themselves. As much as we love (I guess?) see our hope fade when they face an army too big for them.
    I seen some ideas in the comments to change that upgrade but, as much as I like the idea of ressurecting the captain, i came with some of mine :
    - Take any unamed soldier and promote him to level 3 or 4 (just one marble)
    - Take a named soldier and giving him 25% of his experience
    - In addition of captain necromancy, if the captain is alive, give him 25% of his exp.

    A small suggestion in case you want to keep the EXP reward because it's clearly too strong in this session.
    You could have it that it makes the army gain double EXP points for the next few battles (So a level 0 footman can get to level 1 after one or two kills). That way, the entire army doesn't get promoted immediately.
    Otherwise, another great Marble Kingdoms! Looking forward for the next one.

      Another option is to give that exp to your units that won’t join the army (like the king) so it can still be very powerful but can’t be used to steamroll everything.

    FEAR the yellow wave^^ It´s great to see massive battles now, but it seems that it´s getting harder to stop a steamrolling kingdom now. To balance this, how about something like an alliancesystem?
    For example: If certain conditions are met (for example the weakest kindom in relation to the strongest one is outnumbered 1:4) a Kingdom is starting to send out emissarys. Either if they meet each other or the leader of a Kingdom, they could start an alliance/confederate. The probability would be determined by their own strength in relation to the strongest.
    Who becomes the new leader of the alliance?
    Do both have a king? > random dice throw with probability equal to size > one becomes King, the other a high ranking hero
    Only one King? > he becomes king
    No King? > tough luck....or a new king arises in a wandering army?
    The original color could remain, or a new color to signal that this is a new power.ö

    Good to see how far it have come. Though I do have to say:
    Extra Exp gaining is utterly broken and kinda cheap. Especially when the warband kept on wandering straight into the same kingdom over and over until that kingdom eventually steamrolled everything one-sided. Other than that, add in the option where they can get back their captain and make the mage’s damage higher as they seem to fire slowly.

      @@lostmarbles2d Like maybe if they killed the warband, and had no king, the rewards for improving the city could go towards building a new city. It could make for an epic comeback story.

      @@lostmarbles2d I think a version of marble kingdoms might be interesting. Rather than several kingdoms battling out they are allied against some marble version of the Mongol horde. The horde gamemode would pretty much be a larger map that takes into account some of the revamped terrain ideas where the kingdoms have to either hold the horde back for a period of time. (This gives you control over simulation time.) Or inflict enough casualties on the horde. Its pretty much a boss battle.

      This is the first one I haven't bothered finishing. I know everyone has mentioned the level up mechanic being broken, but I'm just surprised that this was the video that was released. With it being such an unearned power gain and making the battle feel pointless, I would have just run the scenario again to create one that worked better.

    I feel like retreats were made too hard to happen. retreats allow characters to live longer and have cooler stories, and I wasn't really invested in anyone's story this time

      Definitely agree, I felt like a total army wipe, including loosing the captain, was way too likely. Still loved the vid, the wandering camp mechanic was great

    These might be the best spearmen we've seen. They're super fun to watch - MORE fun, actually, and they can actually hold their own in a fight! Excellently done!

    I think the wandering warbands should be waaay stronger, it needs to be somewhat of a challenge to deserve such a great reward. Because otherwise the episode is just decided by who finds the wandering warbands, in this case, yellow.

    I watched this with my partner pretty much as soon as I saw it dropped, and wow was this an episode hahaha. The moment when the first massive yellow army got that XP boost, we both just gasped and knew it was about as good as over.
    On the more technical side of things, I have some ideas for how to continue this series amazing trend of adding and polishing features! If wandering barbarian armies can roam around, it might be nice for them to force engagements similar to how normal armies do, so that they can gain experience also and become more of a threat! I'm not sure if it'd be good for them to also be able to eventually re-take settlements, but they might benefit from having slowly increasing numbers per army, or for having the size of the warbands increase much more rapidly along with a decrease in their spawn rate. As was, it seemed like a ton of free XP and bonuses with little resistance. A single mage didn't quite cut it against 80+ lvl. 2 marbles hahaha.
    Aside from that, thank you so much for the content! The stories which just emerge from the chaos are so amazing. I'm still bringing up Agobard and Captain Goujamata(?) whenever I see a powerful solo captain. Every heroic archer has a chance to live up to Zarla, every grey spearman to Joanward and every grey knight to Anya. Thank you for posting these and allowing us to see the stories which unfold!

      Thanks! The "neutral armies" thing actually happened a few times during test runs (not used for various reasons). It arises from the max garrison size mechanic - so if a town remains unoccupied it eventually spawns an army. I'll be sure to use a recording that includes that next time!

      Same! I had a WTF moment the second that horde got that upgrade. It was over. Also, Captain Penthesilea falling at the end to arrows is a perfect masterpiece and reminds me of Boromir and Spartans.

    Really really loved that one! The warbands are a great addition. The marble movement felt a lot more smoother. Your video are only getting better and better each time, love your work!
    - I think like most the exp reward was a bit too strong on a large army, I liked another comment suggesting the double exp for next battle (but would feel wasted if they encounter an army with like only 5 marbles.), Maybe giving a flat number of marble kill distributed randomly to the army that scale with the surviving army size ex: 20 marble survive the engagement give like 20-30 marble kill distributed randomly but if the surviving army is a 100 marbles give 100-120 marble kills.
    - Also at 19:30 the blue army encounter a warband and the reward were the same that with the king alive making a few reward useless, having a separate reward table when the king is dead would be more interesting for the surviving army to bolster their forces and have a chance for revenge.

    Yeah, I know I’m just adding onto the pile, but you gotta change extra exp.
    Maybe make it so the army gains an experience multiplyer, so they can level up faster. Instead of just granting them a whole bucket of experience, making the whole army minimum 2-shots instead of 1.
    Also, bring back the hero statistics at the end. I’m sure you cut it this time because of the 100+ yellow heroes, but please bring it back. It’s so good!

    Huh, knights seem like they went down way easier than in previous episodes.
    Also, "your entire army gains a level" is WAY overpowered holy crap, one that big army got the first one of those is was all over bar the stabbing. Damn.

    Love the warband mechanic, gives an element of unpredictability to the match, and also means that even a weak nation has a chance of making a comeback if they can get lucky with a good reward. Also good to give the spearmen little bucklers, because as they were they just weren't *quite* good enough to be worth it.

    Captain Penthesilea learned to fight in the "old" tradition: One marble, honing their skill to defeat their opponent.
    Unfortunately, Yellow was fighting in the "new" way, referred to in some circles as the "Zerg rush".
    The Samurai ran into the same problem.

    I'm really loving watching this series grow! I have a few suggestions for the next episode:
    - I've mentioned this before, but at some point, I think that marbles should get an ability depending on their weapon. At maybe level 5 they would unlock it and could use it once per round. For example, hammermen could have an earthquake ability, or mages could have a chain lightning ability. In return, levelling up would not grant quite so much raw health and power. This would make it much more interesting to watch high-levelled marbles fight.
    - Thematic names could be cool. Basically, the name a marble gets would depend in some way on what class it is. For example, spearmen could have latin-esque names like Marcus and Augustus whereas hammermen could have more celtic-sounding names like Paedrig or Brynna. These specific ideas are just examples, though.
    - The EXP reward is far too strong and should be replaced with an upgrade where just one marble gets a surge of XP, enough to get to level 4ish.
    - Healer unit?

      I think the variety is good enough but I think Healer would be nice. But Summoners are gonna be absolutely broken. Should not be part of a thing where numbers and luck plays the biggest part. Mage itself was already a monster in the previous episode.

    Instead of the king choosing the reward of killing the bandits, how about, the more the enemies the better the rewards. For example, if an army defeated 50~100 bandits they get to level up. Something like that :)

    I have 2 Suggestions.
    Suggestion 1.
    I think it would be pretty cool if the buff the caravan gives increases with the fewer tropes you have once you defeat it. like a wizard starts as level 1 if you get it with an army under 10
    or you get 50 foot solders with an army of 25 but only 25 with an army of 100. your camps produce tropes 10% faster with an army under 50 but anything higher its only 5%. the city with spawn 2 archers and footmen with an army of 15 or less otherwise its only 1.
    Suggestion 2.
    have it so that the upgrade that gives XP scale with the army size. so that an army of 100 each unit gets 2 kills worth of XP, but an army of 1 gets 2 levels of XP. or something to the effect. my first thought was to have a set number of XP like 50 kills, but that would instantly make a level 4 unit if only one survived and be completely useless for an army of 100 who get half a kill each. so I would have it scale up for each 10 the army has.
    1-10 20 kills of XP
    11-20 35 kills of XP
    21-30 50 kills of XP
    31-40 75 kills of XP
    41-50 90 kills of XP
    51-60 100 kills of XP
    61-70 125 kills of XP
    71-80 150 kills of XP
    81-90 175 kills of XP
    91-100 200 kills of XP
    if I had a say in the matter I would suggest something along the lines of this this makes it so the upgrade isn't obsolete and is more rewarding to defeat the caravan with less tropes and less rewarding for an army of 100 to defeat it.
    if you add something like these two suggestions I think that would be so cool.

    After the earlier kingdom wars. With that godly yellow archer. Ive been rooting for yellow every single time now. And its honestly kinda funny seeing that they received multiple archer upgrades for their city considering they had an insane archer in the previous ones

    I think an interesting idea would be that if a color's king is dead, but a marble of that color gets to level 5-6, they can recolonize the castle, becoming the new king. This could give rise to stories where a simple frontline marble rises to become a hero, leading a group as a band of mercenaries until their legend grows enough to claim the title of king for themselves. This series has always reminded me a bit of Mount and Blade and I think that something that can reward a hero like that could be an interesting addition.
    And the exp gain in this one, eh....
    I would personally change it to either having it be a set number of marbles worth distributed randomly to the army (Very effective on small armies rather than large ones), or have it be a exp booster for the next few battles (chance the bonus is wasted if the next battles are smaller scale).

    Just adding XP to an entire army is definitely overpowered, and inordinately favors larger forces. I don't dislike with like. the idea of an upgrade system working like that, but if you're gonna have one I really don't think it's a good idea to have XP buffs.
    Either way, love the series. The memory of Algobard and Boi is strong.

    1. nerf or change the army experience: Make it so only a set amount of soldiers can receive free exp, or that it won't be enough to instantly lvl up to level 1 or something else, it's up to you.
    2. Warband must attract to to the kingdom(s) with the least upgrades, so no one can just get infinite upgrades to crush all opponents and get even more upgrades
    3. Warbands are far too weak. The ability to receive possibly a game-changing upgrade must not be solely on walking into a group of 5 soldiers, but a somewhat a challenge, so you have to pay the proie of many soldiers to receive the precious upgrade.
    4. Retreating happens too rarely
    Now the emergency balance changes are discussed, here are the suggestions:
    1. Maybe some kind of naval combat, where most of the map is water, and your army has to go to a wharf to embark and then have epic ship battles with other embarked armies. In that case there could also be some battleships of different sorts, they could also do naval combat with other ships or raid enemy embarked armies. You can land your army on land in any spot, but to get back onto the ship you need to get onto a wharf whoch could also have a garrison. You see this is a large field of speculation
    2. Medic unit please!!
    3. Maybe different kingdoms could belong to different races/factions like humans (blue), orcs (yellow), elves (green), dwarves (red) and have special unique units and perks (i know that balancing this could be a big pain)
    4. Maybe something like slowly building up land: so in the beginning there id nothing except 4 castles and 4 armies (of 4 different colours) and multiple empty slots. When an army reaches an empty slot it builds a random building. If an army hits an enemy building and wins the battle, it destroys it, not conquers and then can build a new one.
    5. If a building has been under control for long enough it can rebel and turn gray (so if suggestion 4 takes place we dont have to get rid of gray)

    Было бы интересно увидеть возможность создания альянсов между отрядами разбитых королевств, поскольку объединиться против общего врага имеет больший смысл чем бессмысленное кровопролитие.
    Так-же в конце возможно провести битву между 10 сильнейшими за всю игру в режиме каждый сам за себя это было бы круто.

    Having a bunch of kingdoms was more fun to watch imo, there were more sieges and battles
    I also think there should be siege weapons and perhaps like some destroyable obstacles like gates for example.
    Perhaps also allow factions to make outposts of their own

    this, this is the content i was waiting for after eleven episodes !
    great balance loved the little shield on the spears that were by far the worst units, and loved the loot warbands wandering around, it was so fun to see the yellow hoard getting 3 exp upgrades one after the other.
    really liked also the placement of the various settlments, this time we didn't have the stronger one in the middle (the spawner of sword and shield) breaking all the armies every time.
    can we pls add a rule to get back the commander someway ?
    something like losing 10 troops for a commander ? or a structure when touched sac's troops to spawn one or give them exp if he's still around, my green general was dead in the first fight and kinda went downhill afterwards :(

    Was looking forward to seeing the data at the very end of the video - assumed Captain Penthesilea was going to be at the top of the leader board, if there were too many named units (perhaps thanks to the mass level ups -- maybe only name level 2 and higher folks? i actually assumed the army experience was just a boost to exp earned in future battles not instant pts... I was rooting for yellow against my kids so I was quite happy about it! :D

    The Work and Effort, how different it is from First Kingdom Battle to 10 is incredible!
    But it felt somehow unbalanced.
    The Idea, where the Grey Army starts to spawn and gives the enemy buffs, who beats them, was a cool new Idea!
    Also Somehow ended the game very fast, after yellow earned 2x times the Exp Bonus, got so many Heroes where you cant even read they Names anymore xd
    and ruled over every battle... Also the enemy who has the overhand nearly can farm them endless and get stronger, it gives the other kingdoms a big disadvantage.
    Also what i noticed after the kingdom fell and the remainings who "escaped" after that, got attacked 1 second after, so they are totally getting rooted out of there lives... was it intendet?
    Anyway I love these Videos and the Ideas im looking forward to the new Marble Kingdom!

    Yellow learning the value of equipping their entire army with armor and improved weapons instead of just a few elite guys haha (maybe the extra experience buff should be "this army now gains experience x% quicker" because having an army of 100+ guys where most of them were level two and most of the rest were level one with only a few level 0 guys was uh... fun and hilarious but a bit busted)

    in like any other game Captain Penthisilea would have been the greatest warrior of his time, would have fought in countless battles and have very likely lead his people to victory. Instead he was born into the world where yellow just ascended to godhood on a few outrageously lucky rolls and he never stood a chance in hell.

    Captain Penthesilea fought so valiantly- alone this wise commander decimated armies, avenging every soldier slain. She led several armies to glory, conquering towns and eventually the Blue Kingdom. Returning home from the successful campaign, she so willingly threw herself into impossible odds apon seeing the Yellow army's advance... but it was too late.
    Still, with unflinching resolve she refused to give up. Her army thinned in number after the Yellow Kingdom's armies hunted her down. Once she barely escaped with her few surviving troops from a massive ambush, only to lose even them to yet more hunters. Alone, she managed to blaze a trail to the last Red stronghold and take on the fearsome Yellow army, in a gamble that would make or break her glorious legacy...
    Sadly, it was not to be. Her soldiers were slaughtered, and in a fit of rage she threw herself into the enemy line. She was struck down by a lowly heavy infantry soldier while blinded from a hail of arrows.

    I feel as though archers are getting way too many nerfs recently; they can hardly even defend themselves. Giving them a minimum range would make sense if they have a defensive behavior when an enemy is in close proximity to them.

    It seems like the Flee threshold has been adjusted too much.
    Some garrisons were fleeing to armies only a few soldiers higher than theirs, which wasn't always the case. It was those kind of battles where the underdog usually prevailed and made them much more interesting.
    The retreat option also seemed to take a backseat, though that could have been since most fights were over very quickly.

    Is my opinion acceptable?
    When two random teams attack multiple times, there will be a chance of the "great war" effect and one of the two sides to have the "total attack" effect.
    (the army on the map returns to the castle and in a short time gathers the army to go straight to the enemy's castle)
    The other side will have a "defense" effect (gather troops to the castle and stay in the castle, when there is an army from the occupation camp, they will reinforce the castle until it is attacked)
    Terrain with color and something new?

    Captain Penthesilea was a great fighter, but a terrible captain. Showed up at his castle several times like "hey I need a new army" and the king is just "well what'd you do with the last one???"
    But no matter how good of a fighter you are, 30 archers is too many haha

    I think warbands need to be buffed significantly, so that they’re actually a challenge to take down and not just a free ez upgrade for whoever is lucky enough to run into them. The series is awesome, keep up the good work!

    As soon as yellow team got that xp it over the amount of units upgraded was overpowered also another suggestion when you destroy a castle you gain nothing mabey you could get something beacues it more of deflect beacues you gain nothing other than killing the enemy main source of units but that help the other teams alot

    You should make wandering bands become a lot more powerful over, rather than gaining just a few units. They should level to have several wizards, up to 50 soldiers, and more if you can think of it. Also, the upgrades should also level up with the power of the bands, because gaining xp in the early rounds become extremely overpowered, as well as other things.

    Idea: upgrades. What if, depending on the type of marble, they got an upgrade when they reached a certain level. Like the hammer guys could become demolishers and be able to break walls, or wizards could become necromancers, which would turn dead enemies into allies. Archers could become crossbowers, which could shoot much faster and deal more damage. Just a lil idea i have, i hope you consider it!

    0:59 Зелёное королевство направило армию капитана Факко на встречу с Пентесилием. В ходе неравного и невероятно жестокого боя, Пентесилий потерял свою армию, но одержал победу и убил капитана Факко.
    2:42 Собрав новую армию, Пентесилий тут же потерял её в ещё более жестокой схватке с опытной армией капитана Лавиния, Пентесилий одержал победу и вновь убил капитана армии, но вернулся в столицу одиноким.
    5:24 Собрать полноценную армию не удалось, но набрав людей в свой батальон, Пентесилий направился к столице зелёного королевства и столкнулся под её стенами с боевым отрядом Фарриериса, после чего уничтожил его.
    5:39 Тут же, при отходе, его батальон уничтожил отряд варваров.

    Few suggestions to spice up gameplay;
    -Nerf the Exp Upgrade, instead of giving every single marble level have game pick 5 random marbles instead, or, alternatively, have 5 fighter marbles instead become a diffrent type of marble (Excluding Mage)
    - Allow Wandering Warbands to Attack Special Marble Spawners (but not the Castle), if they suceed, they add 2 marbles of that Spawner and Switch the Spawner to theres, at expense of not Replenishing for first 2 spawns.
    - Give lv3 Archers a Crossbow, Slower Firing rate but Better Overall damage & Armor, Piercing, and Lv5 a Matchlock, VERY Slow fire rate, Very Fast bullet, and ignores Armor Completely.

    Big fan of the series.
    Favorite part of this one was the spawning neutral armies with rewards. However that exp bonus seems op.
    Perhaps make the spawning neutral armies get a bit larger over time. Maybe have certain presets chosen at random, and each preset gives its own reward.?
