  • Not just a marble battle, but the entire war.
    Armies travel randomly across the map, engaging in combat if they meet. Once conquered, towns will produce more fighters for the player. Whenever the army goes to the home city or an friendly town, it will reinforce itself with fighters.
    If an army is defeated, it will retreat to its home city to regroup.
    If a player's home city is attacked, the king will join in the defense. If the king is slain, the city will be lost, and the remaining fighters will form flee as a new army.
    If a player has no home city whenever an army is defeated, that army is permanently destroyed.
    Fighters gain experience by scoring kills. If a fighter gains enough experience it will level up, gaining perks like additional hit points, speed and/or equipment.
    Destroy all the enemy kings and armies to win!

    The hero almost couldn't believe it. And the frenzied look in the bandit's face suggested that she couldn't, either. It didn't hurt as much as he thought it would...he saw men scream in agony when run through, but all he felt was a slight tugging...and the gentle coldness as cobalt dripped from the tip of the spearhead that lodged into the earth behind him.
    He had a good run. "Captain Watty"...it always sounded a bit too pretentious. He was merely a soldier who took up arms for a king too reckless for his own good. But in this moment, he let himself indulge in the slightest bit of vanity. It did have a good ring to it.
    He couldn't feel his arms. There was a slight ringing in his ears as the edges of his vision grew blurrier.
    "Your name..." He croaked out. The Bandit started, as if drawn out of her own trance to finally see the man she impaled.
    "My...name...?"
    "I would...know the name of the one who finally got me..." A rueful smile pulled at the corners of his mouth.
    "...Yvanna..." The word seemed heavy in her mouth, as if she were unused to speaking it.
    "Yvanna...that's a good name..."
    He closed his eyes, and took one final breath.
    A good run, indeed.

    The person who figures out how to make this a playable game is going to make *so much money.*
    The update log adds so much polish, I feel like I'm just watching gameplay trailers at this point!

      Hmm, just add the ability to drag units! Not following the cursor, but like an elastic movement where the farther you are, the faster the unit moves.

      I mean that in like a multiplayer way of 4 or more players going head to head using temp. terrain and other things to slightly alter the game in some way
      Like instead of immediately using the XP on the army you can save them up (max 5 at a time you can hold in my opinion) then use it all at once to overwhelm the enemy

      I have an idea, okay, so there's a cycle, for example, every two minutes (battle time excluded), all players get to place 1-2 terrain tiles on the map, but you can choose to skip the cycle, and if you gather like, 5 terrain actions for example, you can create a town of yours, of any type on any tile within, say a 6 tile radius.

      @@alicorn3924 I like the idea of being able to make up to 2 more cities. Each more expensive than the last. Gives a possibility of 3 lives while still having the randomness...
      Would also say if they do get the second or third castle it could be bigger and produce more troops faster alternatively make a choice between doubling the troops or spawning them already level 1/2 (depending on if you take that upgrade for both levels)
      Could make late game interesting. Also could upgrade existing castle but make it expensive so for short games it's quick and dirty but with luck/bounce paths it can lead to a long time of bouncing.
      Which if you have a lone warrior with no castle or second army going ham you can just make him new king on board or something. 🤷🏻‍♂️ who knows
      So many potential paths. It's genuinely exciting

    A man’s fury can only sustain him so long. Captain Watty- just Watty now, really, for what is a captain without men to command?- had grown tired of running. His king was gone, his country reduced to a single village desperately finding men and shoving weapons in their hands to stay alive… and to help him. Watty hadn’t set out to become a war hero when this bloody fight had started; he had just taken up a sword to keep his home safe. He’d had modest successes. But then his home was sacked and his king killed, and fury had driven Watty wild. He’d killed so many men that he’d long lost count. Survived 34 battles, mostly by knowing how to fight like a cornered rat, and when to run.
    But he’d run too long, and he was tired. Tired of wizards killing scores of his comrades. Tired of desperately cutting free of the bandit mobs that ruled the land now that the war had taken many of its defenders. Tired of near-misses with equally desparate Red and Orange soldiers, who continued to fight for their dead countries and deader kings. Well, not thwt he could talk about that.
    This war was over. All that was left was to put down the last pockets of desperate men like him, so that peace could finally rule. Watty knew the war had hardened him. It showed in his armament. His helmet was dented and cracked, the red plume he’d been so proud of matted and brown with the filth of the battlefield. His longsword was reinforced with the metal of men he’d killed and battlefields he’d looted, far from the small arming sword he’d been provided when he joined the army. His shield was so warped and the paint so worn away, you couldn’t tell what army he’d came from. There was no home for a man like him off the battlefield. Not anymore.
    King Cro yet ruled, hero of the Defense of Cyan, and Cyan stood strong. So now, as he faced down the Bandit Captain Agobard and his rabble, he found one last surprise in this war. His exhaustion slowly became peace. No more running. His people would live on. Cro would be a good king, a strong king, and one day the bandit menace would end. Peace.
    The bandit’s spear pierced his side, and Watty just smiled. Finally, Peace.

    1 suggestion: if the rewardsmen are called "bandits"...let them attack villages(if they win, choose yourself:
    1) Occupy: they seize the village
    2) Raid: they just attack army, nothing more
    3) Ravage: they destroy the village
    Oh, and If the village is neutral - they can reinforce the village (optional)

    Captain Watty was a literal madman to damn near solo TWO different armies and survive at 36:39.
    What's crazy is that his actions ensured the Blue fort's survival at 38:13.

    perhaps one of the upgrades could be 'spawn a prince' and a unit called a prince would spawn in a random city (or army if there is no city owned by that color) and then if a king dies, if there is a prince in a city, it will become the new king.

    The fact, that King Cro litterally by himself killed 44 warriors in one battle decided who will eventually win - is glorious. It's really great example of "you better do quality over quantity" moment. And his stats is funny because he made a lot and was only in 1 battle.
    Also redesign of archers is great because now archers isn't dying so frequently in melee battles.
    And regen in battles is OP because the longer battle goes the less chance of team without regen to win. But it's also intresting. And I think red/orange lost because they never got it but since King Cro moment I cheared only for blue/cyan so I'm only happy about that.

    King Cro is one of, if not the greatest, king to ever come from the great marble kingdoms. Long may he reign.

    Watty lived (Literally) by the phrase "live to fight another day" But damn, how crazy it is that blue got an enormous army after the death of the strongest hero in like 7 episodes.

    Today, a hero was born. Captain Watty of the Blue Kingdom single handedly defeated 2 armies and continued the Blue Kingdom's legacy even after the demise of there king. He slain the terror that was Gomes after they murdered Watty's comrades with just one attack. He commanded many brave warriors, and with his help the blue empire lives on and continues to grow.
    Rest in peace, Captain Watty.

    I love the part from 36:38, where Captain Watty singe-handedly fights against multiple armies after one another. The armies always spare him but he keeps chasing after them.

    Probably was bullied because of his name.
    He was leading his army
    After the Blue King died he still led his warriors until they died.
    He created a second generation of warriors who also died later much to his mourn.
    Then he travelled alone. A Captain without crew. He fought Grey Bandits solely out of fun. He helped the Cyan army against Orange and Red. Until finally, he was killed by Grey Bandits. He may be the second-mightiest warrior, even stronger than Da Gaming Boi, only Trigger was stronger (the experimental Yellow and Red ones from that one episode doesn't count).
    But it's good to know that de Witt became kind of his descendant, because of his name.

      @@timgorg1919 Nope, Dagamingboi killed 143 marbles across 32 battles and trigger killed 214 marbles across 39 battles There was also this bandit holdout that has around 5 lvl 5s and 6s and around several 3s and 4s.

      Not only this, but Watty is the only reason the most northern blue outpost held. He used guerrilla tactics by hit and running the red siege army and damaging them which helped out a ton to the defense of the city.

    Loving the daggers being added to the archers. Also like the idea of the farmers, but they seem to get stuck on each other more often than not.
    King Zeelenberg was betrayed. Pushed into the fight by the soldiers sworn to protect him. No wonder Captain Watty went a little batty.

      It makes EVERY HERO (anyone with a level 1 and higher) take less damage.
      To make an example, a level 1 Soldier can survive 3 hits instead of the regular 2

    "And it was here that the Red army most cunningly circumvented the vast majority of Cyan's remaining force, diving in with a force of 86 against the Cyan king who now only had 17 warriors to defend him.
    This move of brilliance, however, would turn out to be the single greatest military disaster of the Red army's history, as the farmers that swarmed the castle were utterly untrained in both formation fighting and siege warfare, and frequently bickered and got in each others' way constantly looking around for valuables to loot rather than killing the King, and once they did confront the king they'd often get in each other's way trying to glaim the glory of a Kingslayer for themselves rather than working together.
    To their credit, they did very nearly almost kill King Cro-perhaps his survival is just as much due to dumb luck as it is to the Red army's oversight. Were it not for his kingly armaments he most certainly would have perished, but he was able to just barely repel all the farmers and then the archers that marched into the throne room with daggers drawn right after.
    In a single battle he had felled over half the enemy fighting force by his own hand."

    Another Great War :)
    3 Suggestions (achieveable with existing assets)
    1. Individual marble sizes: to a certain degree - larger Marbles are slower (movement and rotation), more HP, have greater weapons thus higher damage/reach
    smaller Marbles are faster (movement and rotation), less HP and diminished range
    2. Mixed Armys: instead of a mono-culture of marbles, the amount of marbles are spread between different weapon groups (e.g.
    sword/shield
    behind that spearmen
    and as "artillerie" in the last rows, the leader, mage and archers)
    3. (Based on 1 and 2) An assassin special unit:
    They have a special neutral village. They send their unit when they are claimed (maybe the first time they are claimed there is no fight, after that the defenders consist of kingdom troops).
    The unit consists of a set number of marbles...4 to 6 or so. Every marble is named and is different in size (and thus attributes) to normal troops.
    Think along the lines of the bad batch, ninja turtles or the furious five from kung fu panda.
    You have the big slow one (REALLY BIG), the quick small one, the kunoichi with double short swords, a sharp shooter and....a mage (Guess Naruto would be a good inspiration for that one^^)
    Depending on your assets you could give em something like face paint, ninja masks or even their weapons new skins (the spear would be a bo, the sword would be a katana). Also (if possible) as a ninja weapon, the scythe on a chain. Super long range, but it damages only with the bladed part. If they enemys is too close, it can´t do damage (not good when used as an army weapon, but with this concept it would work)

    It's unbelievable that the king of the blues could kill the attacking 43 reds and still survive. Thanks to this, he was able to conquer all the remaining kingdom after this battle.

    I loved what you did with the archers! Making them not completely useless in close quarters was nice.
    I also ultimately liked the change of making the units 2-shots instead of 1. I thought it make fights drag on, but no. Good job.
    Bandits were also improved. Loved how you added a Captain, and with everyone minimum 2-shot, wizards aren’t completely busted anymore.
    A change I would recommend is, when their only 1 king left, make it so that bandits no longer spawn. It just adds unnecessary filler to the end, where its already long with waiting to wipe out the last few outposts.

    No! Captain Watty! I was really hoping he'd make it to the end.
    Archers having a melee weapon now is great, really helped them not just instantly die once the range closed. Made them surprisingly scary!

    i like how the archers can switch to small blades when the enemy is too close now, how the warbands have their own captains, and how the warbands have bigger armies.
    and i VERY much like how there is a plot armour section in the warband rewards. thats funny

    I have an idea for warbands - a warband takeover. Basically, warbands can attack cities. If they lose, the king gets an upgrade as usual. If the warband wins though, the leader becomes the new king of the defeated faction, and the faction gains some malus. This malus would either be some randomly decided penalty or the faction's camps becoming neutral and armies becoming warbands.

    Could there be a path-finding algorithm for different unit types? E.g. long-ranged units avoiding shooting at walls and short-ranged units looking for cover against shot projectiles by the enemy.
    Adding behavior to them would be nice too, like if they have low HP they'll stop rushing and if they have most of their HP and confident enough they can rush.

      I have an idea for the series too, if a troop or troops go to the wrong wall to retreat, they'll be a deserter, deserters may come together, anyone but themselves fight, but marbles actively try not to retreat on the wrong side, also the position of an army depends on where they'll start, north, east, south, west, wherever the army is, is where they'll start at.

    I think I preferred when the simple units started being one shot rather than being able to take two hits as I think it is the reason why we saw a lot less characters pop up this time.

      Yeah, hero's get stuck with 2 hp units and die to hordes. they still pop up. But nothing as crazy as those 2 orange marbles that got like 100 kills each
      And honestly, idk what i like better, cus if a faction where to stack 2 Hp regen and 2 amours with 1 hp normals, it would basically turn into an unstoppable god of spherical eldritch destruction and mayhem that heals constantly

    The size of Captain Watty's balls must have created so much gravity they crushed his sense of self preservation.
    Not only did he solo armies, but after he would be forced to retreat he chased after the armies. Also his duel with a Gomes was epic, I could just hear "dual of the fates" playing.

    Maybe plot armor, if the color's king is dead, just has them survive? Enter route mode for a little bit then resume operations. Also maybe have the bandit spawns be able to take towns. Make em a proper wildcard.

    Absolutely fantastic, love this series, so keep going cause this is amazing!
    I love the archer update and the balancing of everything doing less damage/everything having more health, I makes every soldier count more and have a second chance, witch I like( even though one-shot-kills are satisfying).

    well, it's still far from an alliance, no troops are shared, there are no help in betwin team members, it just feels like a pact of non agression (these could be really interresting if improved)

      @@thecoolbird13 Yes. The rough idea is that when a battle starts, all armies/objects within X range are included. So if you have a nearby army, it is included. If two armies fight just outside the castle, the castle is included.

    the loss of captain watty was a true tragedy...
    It might be interesting to have a mechanic where kingdoms can temporarily ally with each other during the game. Maybe each army has a diplomat marble that remains in the back during battles, and if an army with a diplomat reaches a main city and the two kingdoms are of roughly equal strength at the time they have a chance of starting an alliance. Probably if a king dies any alliances are nulled, and if one kingdom grows stronger enough than the other there's a chance the stronger one will end the alliance when the stronger army encounters the other kingdom.
    If a diplomat dies maybe it's like a declaration of war and its kingdom targets specifically the kingdom that killed it? Maybe with a power boost, like they're seeking revenge?
    Dunno though, maybe too complicated.

    I love it so much,and there's a lot to say. I really like the new updates and upgrades on units and warbands.
    I also like how Red and Orange had the idea of using Bandits to mask their conspirement when they lost all their warbands and the Castle.
    It also looks like the Bandits can have a lot more of Wizards and Generals than normal factions.
    The Blue General and the Level 3 Bandit Wizard were the 2 best units in this episode too!

    I think spearmen could use some help still, maybe make it so their spears don’t get stuck on walls or other swords? They seem to just get stuck then pull themselves into blades

      I think better targeting could be a blessing for them. Getting stuck is a good disadvantace, but if they could point at the enemy half the time they could be amazing.

    The real castle:
    The castle has a wall on 3 sides (right, left and bottom) and those 3 sides are mountains, the top is where the attackers can enter, 2 gates on both sides and a wall in the middle. 4 corners of the castle are towers (ranged troops can stand on towers and not be attacked by melee troops)
    The king's room is in the middle of the bottom of the castle, to the right and left of the bottom is the sword summoning camp
    New Troops and Summon Rate:
    Sword camp: normal sword=80%, sword with shield=20%
    Spear barracks: regular spearmen=70%, long spear soldiers=30%
    Ax Barracks: dual axes=40%, 1 ax 1 shield=60%
    Archery camp: normal archer=80% , crossbow=20%
    Hammer camp: hammer soldier=70%, builder=30%
    Knight camp: knight=80%, assassin=20%
    Soldier Info: builder: turn yourself into a tower that can be attacked from a distance when entering battle
    Assassin: entering the battle will be invisible and not attack until the assassin attacks another person

      if you're talking about the blue forts, they're allies so they don't attack
      but for the red and orange forts, that's probably because they were outnumbered and it was too risky

    Hi ! Its so cool thanks ! I havesome ideas ;
    1. Donjon, spawn and after few try its dissapear or after finish it, inside you have like 5 levels with each levels a boss then you get some loots, like unique stuff in special color; shield, weapon,armor and when the marble die its gone.
    2.after a certain rising a place can generate a capitain and if he lvl up and survie be a new king and the place become a castle?
    3. When a marble lvl up they can have a random ability defensif ofensif like, protect other or berserker(they hit allies), different seize (big or short power or speed, more tanky)?
    4.when a reatreat appear also add a capture in the same time (if they go on the other side they are capture)
    And a jail pop next to the castle so if you attack this you get all the prisoners?
    5. Add monsters like goblin or dragons, too much?

    At the start of each of these videos I always look at the k/d ratio of the different kingdoms to see which of them have the most skilled warriors, and it tends to remain true for the rest of the video.

    A thought on an alternate/organic way to handle Captains and army spawning:
    - Each castle has a second respawn circle around its first for spawning new Captains. Each captain that already exists slows the spawner down (half, third, forth, etc)
    - Every unit is led by a named individual, either captain or leveled hero.
    - Anytime more named characters exist in a unit or place then there are units on the map the unit/place splits off a unit. The King is always the last unit to do this, and returns to the castle if any new units spawn naturally from Heroes/Captains.
    - No 0 size units exist, since a new unit can spawn from the castle instead. Units that retreat to the castle remerge with it, creating a new unit if there is less units than named characters there, so the castle can be as well defended as possible instead of retreated units sitting outside until restocked.
    This means new captains eventually replace the old, sometimes acting as royal guards and sometimes leading units. Neutral villages will send out their Heroes as warbands (instead of growing forever like Anya's famous temple) and sometimes even the King might get desperate or get their hands dirty. Retreating units always merging with their castle means they always contribute to a last stand if they get their in time. Last but not least, the symbol of the unit could be for its highest leveled leader.

      Alternatively to keep naturally spawning warbands and unit counts low, only heroes above a certain level could count as potential leaders. This also lets there be elite units where lots of level 1 or 2 troops exist without it splitting violently. Level 3 or 5 seem like good benchmarks for this.
      You could also always keep the King in their castle, and leave the Kingdom without a unit if they're thenlast "Leader" left until another Captain spawns or high enough level Hero emerges.
