This music... my childhood. This goes deep, I get emotional to be honest. The whole universe didn't matter when I woke up early and turned on the NES. It was pure living
I remember being 5 years old playing this one Saturday morning in my older brother's room, my parents were away for a funeral and he was babysitting me. He made lime Jell-O, and brought me some in my favorite TMNT Shell cereal bowl... Ah, the early 90's! What a time.
At :6:18 I have always been impressed with this eagle animation. It just goes to show that even with seriously limited hardware the NES was capable of doing great things in the hands of skilled people.
lol One of the worst NES games though I love this console. The gameplay's fucked by too many slopes. Kuros slips on almost any platform you jump that makes him totally unplayable. I admire this video player patience. 👍
Hey, thanks for playing this *jumping* game for us. It really was not much like the first game. I could never beat the first stage of this, and I often wondered if this game was any good.. But now I know.
It's actually impressive how every different weapon and physical item the player gets (helmet, shield) appears in the knight's sprite. That's some good attention to detail for a platformer like this.
This video brings back so many great memories from my childhood. This was one of those games that my friends and I would occasionally pick up and play for about an hour before being beat into the ground by the difficulty. We would usually make it to the first boss in the clouds but that was about it. Then, after a couple years of playing, we finally had a breakthrough and were able to make it all the way to the fire world boss. It was super gratifying to make it that far in a game like is before the age of online guides. Great game
man I remember how LONG it took me to figure out what to do the first time I played this but I had a lot of fun with it and it remains one of my top 5 NES games
@@MrPants432: It says - though it's worded more intricately - get help from the 4 animal kings, find the 4 pieces of the Ironsword, defeat the 4 elemental demons.
I know, I've played this game for countless hours in my youth, that this is a difficult game. You play it very well, and you got good skill as an old school gamer. Cheers to you! Well played!
I was always drawn to Wizards & Warriors II more, seemed like this one was more fun than it's first. The first one use to drive me batty with frustration. Sometimes Wizards & Warriors was way too hard for it's own good but man what a reward if you could get far.
I disagree. Now, maybe the game devs made that choice, but come on!! Tell me a helmet, shield, & sword made of - Since I'm guessing Titanium hadn't been discovered yet - freaking *DIAMOND* wouldn't protect you!!
Thanks for the video! For some reason this was one of my favorite NES games in the golden 8bit time... I liked it more than its the prequel.... I gotta say that the player missed many "secret rooms" in this game play. I still remember them crearly from the beginning of 1990's
I think one of the awesome things about this game is that you can play it over and over and always discover some new hidden cavern you missed in a previous playthrough,
That's the really first videogame that I remember so far... I was like 4 or 5 years old ! I always remembered the level design and the colors of the first level, the music theme, the birds, wooooooow the music theme is nearly exactly like in my memories ! I'm 31 btw :') so much feels right now...
Me too! (30 myself) I had these vague memories of this game, and I started searching. Finally found it, when I saw the cover all these memories rushed back. Watching this made me feel so much nostalgia. Memories I didn't even know I had. Good stuff.
I loved playing this game so much when I was 6-9. It took me a while to get good at it at first. I could never get to the last level. Thanks so much for uploading it. It brought back a lot of memories. I'd give anything to play this old game on Nintendo again.
One of the most hardest games on NES I have beaten as a kid recall seeing my old friend from my neigborhood beat this- in 1990 the last stage had the most upbeat music the Underwater music ,Water Elemental cave and game over/Store music were the most memorable :D
Holy hell was Ironsword - Wizards & Warriors II a true eye opener here!!! Out of the whole NES Wizards & Warriors trilogy Ironsword - Wizards & Warriors II is definitely the most cryptic off the three (and that's no easy feet compared to W&W 3 either!!!) How would've I've ever known that the Inn gambling in-house game was a crucial element to clock the game?! Find treasure check! Find/buy armour check! Search out spells I get it! But gambling for extra cash when you can't find enough on your travels?! That didn't go with my 9 year old self back in 1988 here!! Oh well the game was truly innovative and out there beyond it's time though. That tavern inn game is so random that I never ever won it so I never played it in now realising that you need to play it in order to win at Ironsword here and the skull that drops into the cups took forever to fall into as well?!! I can't also help but feel that the ending is a tad underwhelming as well after all off the battles here. The level with the underwater elements with the zombies did it for me though but it can be all to easy to miss a crucial chest for spells/equipment from a missed jump as well?! The 1st game is still my favourite of the trilogy but I get why so many people including myself still have fond memories of Ironsword and it's still a fantastic game but it's still too cryptic for kids back then to process though... Ironsword - Wizards & Warriors II is the Dark Souls here and much (if slightly frustrating) love to this game here!!! RAREWARE of today!!! We want a new Wizards & Warriors game out here now!!! Give us long devotees to the franchise and Kuros the knight some peace and closure here!!!!!
+jazzzz If ever willing, you should convince Rareware to bring Wizards & Warriors. In addition, they should also consider the idea of bringing Kuros as a "guest character" for Killer Instinct as they included Rash from Battletoads.

Yup. Such attention to detail deserves more praise
another game that does that is Faxanadu
@@fench1234567 I had Faxanadu. That game was CRIMINALLY underrated.

I mastered this under a year by playing it everyday. I could go the entire just about flawlessly. I was either six or seven

I like how the intro says you're the greatest warrior from such and such land, but you come to this place with no money and little gear.
Read the intro scroll again, genius! It doesn't mention the amount of money or gear you have.

yea the graphics took a tremendous nosedive after the first one. clear sequelitis.
