@@nzsaltflatsracer8054 I think your right as old as we get , there is always apart of that small child we were . Any way it would be boring if we all grew up :-) .
Afraid of engine fails on take off. You wont hear the engine noises if you are making noises. ahummmmmmm, ahummmmm. like Zen praying to deny reality. Issues he has to delete from his mind.
Elliot seems like a man who refuses to allow anyone to leave the aircraft without a smile on his face. Such a positive episode, and a truly inspiring aviator.
Elliot's faces and sound effects while flying really resonate with me for whatever reason. Loved this episode, it had me laughing and eager to get back to flying!
Being from Hungarian, I couldn't help but pause the video and ogle at that beautiful Antonov AN-2 at the start of the video! All the other aircraft are beautiful too, but the AN-2 is probably one of my favoruite biplane!
Hanging out with Elliot has to be better than the t6. And t6 was the first plane I got to fly when I was in high school. Thinking about getting my licenses renewed after 14 years away from it.
Very cool episode.Elliot is living proof of a systematic approach to developing flying skills to continually enhance confidence and safety.... and besides look how much fun they were having!
It is a pretty cool job, though I would prefer something with less risk involved. There are so many cool aviation jobs, I really hope one day to get one of the cool jobs that do not turn into routine but you always have something new to do.
My dad's friend still flies the T-6. He has been doing air shows for over 40 years and has over 4000 hours in that plane. I've got to fly in it a few times as a young kid.
I'm increasingly encouraged to pursue my dream to fly simply knowing people like both you and Elliot are out there in the community. It's helping me feel less intimidated to just get out there already because I just want to find someone like that for a mentor. Also it doesn't hurt that I feel a kinship with anyone who talks about Michigan even though I live in Colorado now!
How many people watch the same AV geek videos multiple times? Found myself watching it again after a few years. Love it, you guys rock. Airplanes are cool and practice, review, improve.
Mt step=dad flew Texans as a flight instructor in WWll My family and I were interring his cremains in the family plot at an old church in Gray Ga. When I opened the car door I heard the sound of a radial aircraft engine way overhead. We looked up and some guy was doing rolls and loops in a T6 right over the graveyard! We laughed and cried- what a wonderful accidental tribute for the old man!
I had the pleasure of photographing that exact T-6 in 2010 when it was flown by Gauntlet Warbirds (now Gauntlet Aerospace), when they operated out of KARR in Aurora, IL. It was a beautiful aircraft then, and I'm really happy to see it still being well taken care of.
I was fortunate enough to work on a project for a man who owned a major aviation company in California who tested all of his planes himself, unfortunately, one test trip took his life. I give major respects to anyone running test flights thousands of feet up in the air, hopefully, one day I can join all of you.
Just a huge enthusiast of flight..... These guys did this spot on complete with perfect daylight and flight views. .. You tube gold star... Hello from AUG...
I have had the honor to have flown in a T6 some years ago. What a blast. It was also the first war bird for my son to have flown in also. Wish there were more of them around.
Makes this look so deceptively simple - not just because Elliot is a one-of-a-kind teacher, but you are a remarkable student too. Hugely enjoyable. You’ve got another fan, thought the beard maybe no so much
Such a great video to go back and watch again, Elliot's love for flying is infections, he effortlessly blends his professionalism with a fun factor that is unmatched. Great video.
I love how when the two of you are in the car and Elliot is wearing a Royal Australian Air Force PC-21 T-shirt, gotta love seeing my home country being represented throughout the world.
Super cool to watch this, thanks. My dad (RIP) was a British RAF fast-jet pilot who trained on T6s in the USA in the 50s (Breckenridge I think) before moving onto F-86. Is there a video of that first crash anywhere, over the 747 yard, in the experimental? Looks intense!
Best vid of yours I have seen so far . I have a friend like Elliot,, same attitude anyway. We are both amateur radio operators, both ride motorcycles, and both fly.. Attitude in the air was so professional, but so California.. I loved it.. Made my day.. Thanks
Elliott's flight skills have got to be right there with Yeager and Olds. Skills aside he seems like a truly humble and authentic person. Godspeed sirs.
Love both you guys. Both your channels keep my first love and passion alive. Flying has been in my blood since I have been 3. Been awhile since I have been up and I am living vicariously through you and Elliot. Flight chops your work is awesome. Blue skies -Michael
Thank you for keeping this 61 year old alive. Great video. Grab it by the short hairs and pull as hard as you can. Not looking at daisy roots this morning. Great day.
Love the Texan. It was actually used as part of the first Blue Angels air show back in 1946, mocked up as a Japanese Zero, and performed a mock dog fight with the team.
Flying warbirds is a dream of mine that I hope to make reality. Watching this video gave me a lot of joy, but also reminded me of the cautions needed to fly such antiquated planes, especially ones that have seen actual combat.
Rancho Murieta is near where I grew up(Elk Grove). Did you happen to fly the few minutes over to the runway in Ione? Its a nice long private runway South of Rancho Murieta, and was on the list of possible places the Air Force could use in an emergency.
50 emergency landings. That’s quite a statistic. After 24,000 hours, 5,000 of which is in single engine airplanes, I only had one emergency landing while instructing in an Arrow that experienced a separated throttle cable. I acknowledge that I’m not a test pilot, and I also have to acknowledge that I have been lucky to not have any accidents, incidents or violations over 51 years of flying. I agree that some airplanes make you better pilots. I never flew a T-6, but I do think taildraggers, in general, make better pilots. In my case, my 185 has made me better. Specifically, those airplanes that may be considered unforgiving in certain aspects of flight that require your attention to detail are airplanes that enhance your pilot skills. I think the 185 qualifies, and in the jet world, in my experience, the Westwind II, B-727 and DC-8 also qualify as “pay attention a little more closely”, skill enhancing aircraft. Why do I like four engine airplanes? Why, because one can have lunch while pressing on to destination when an engine fails. Had an engine shutdown three different times in a 747 (a forgiving, aerodynamic masterpiece) and never declared an emergency. Complication and redundancy sometimes results in simplicity. Good on you for flying different airplanes. You’ll be a better pilot for it.
55 years a pilot and so far only two engine failures (in singles) and three undercarriage problems. Mot a bad trade for the hours and years of delight!
I’m a cropduster, flown flat engines, now flying turbines. Blew a jug on a 985, had a high pressure fuel pump failure on a -34 P&W, deadstick,,,,,had a Garrett quit me last year, totaled that bird out. Big fun!
15:48 "My goodness look at that". No matter how experienced we are or how many hours we have, there is nothing like watching a beautiful sunset from the sky.

I'm so jealous! Cool car to, Lamborghini Miura. The grandfather of all supercars today. EDIT: Googled some and realized that Elliot has worked for Scaled Composites. One of my proudest moment when I worked in aviation was a meeting with Burt and Dick Rutan in their office, 1983. I'd argue that this ruclips.net/video/HtsCnSgVzZQ/видео.html also takes a decent amount of skill to pull off though.
way more cool wearing an Aussie aviator polo.
