Lin Manuel Miranda wrote the songs in Encanto and many of the songs in Moana. I really recommend you watch those two as well as Coco. Absolutely fantastic films, with beautiful music and great messaging.
I think I’ve watched Coco around 10 times now and I cry every time. It’s so beautiful. Disney films have come a long way since Brave (loved that one as well but the recent ones are just so good!)
I love this song largely because it's a low female non villian song. Most of disney's non vilian female songs before this were around soprano range but my vocal range has always been alto/contralto so i could only accurately sing disney villian songs since i couldn't hit notes for ariel, snow white, etc.
Fun facts: (1) Stephanie Beatriz, the actress voicing Mirabel (youngest sister) was initially considered for Luisa (the older one) based on her deep voice in TV series role, until they found her natural voice and personality are lighter; (2) She was deeply pregnant while working it; literally was starting her contractions while recording song "Waiting for a Miracle" and her daughter was born the next day.
While I love most of the songs from Encanto, including this one, I get that the sound of Surface Pressure is not for everyone. I'm glad you still found it enjoyable though. By all means watch the full movie I and many others really enjoyed it. By the way you got lucky picking this song as it has little spoilers and makes sense out of context.
