Finding a reputable tool builder can be a challenge to say the least. And finding a competent injection molder who can reliably manufacture your components can be just as challenging so today let's talk about five reasons why your injection molder should also be the one who builds your injection mold. First of all and perhaps most importantly nowadays, this allows for a seamless transition between the tool building process and manufacturing of your components. In most cases you'd otherwise be looking at an injection mold being built overseas, a costly and slow import and customs process and it could take weeks if not months before your injection mold is actually producing components and as you're well aware time is money and this could be the difference between bringing your product to market at the perfect time and missing the opportunity altogether. Secondly by having your molder involved in the process from the start, they can assist with the design, engineering, product and process development, and most importantly develop a plan for what we here at Crescent call design for manufacturing. We have an entire video on this topic that you can check out using the link below but design for manufacturering simply means designing the tool from the start in a way that will produce components reliably and repeatedly over a long period of time. Achieving that with a separate tool builder and injection molder can be next to impossible. Speaking of a long-term manufacturing partner which you can learn about in this video, it is very unlikely that your injection mold we'll run for millions of cycles without any need for attention and care. As you are well aware these tools are a substantial investment and require regular maintenance to ensure a long lasting usable life. And that's why the third reason that your injection molder should build your injection mold is that if and when your asset requires maintenance, we have the expertise and knowledge to maintain that injection mold in house ensuring that we are back to producing your components as fast as possible. Again a standalone injection molder would have to crate up that costly asset send it out for repair spend hours communicating back and forth on what needs to be repaired or what preventative maintenance needs to be done and it could be weeks before that tool is back in an injection molding machine producing parts. Meanwhile here at Crescent, our production floor is all of 10 steps from our in-house mold maintenance department meaning preventative maintenance is easier avoiding those costly issues before they ever happen and the communication on how to resolve those issues as fast as possible is seamless. But as if all of those reasons aren't enough, there's also a large element of risk management by having your tool builder and injection molder under the same roof. The simple fact is that the more vendors who are involved in the entire process, the higher potential for miscommunication and errors which ultimately costs time and money in production. So not to sound like a broken record but again partnering with a molder that has in-house tooling is going to manage that risk and greatly reduce the mistakes and total downtime. But lastly and perhaps most importantly, a single source manufacturing solution provides a reliable high-level of quality that is nearly impossible to replicate using multiple vendors. All of this complexity is for nothing if you are not able to get consistent quality parts on a regular basis. Waiting for tools to clear customs, waiting for your molder to send your tool out for repair, and waiting for lapses in communication to be resolved is wasted time across the board and once again time is money especially in this industry. If you want to learn more about the many benefits of a single source tool building and injection molding solution we'll leave some helpful resources down below including contact information don’t hesitate to reach out to us to learn how Crescent can help bring your injection molded part to life.
