DISCLAIMER: First line has light language. Other then that, its good.
Original Video: • ‘The Hamilton Polka’ -...
Who recommended this without explaining it? Weird Al does polka medleys where he takes pieces of songs and combines them into a polka. See The Alternative Polka or the Angry White Boy Polka or Polka Face. This is a medley of songs from the Broadway musical Hamilton. It was a big deal in 2015-2016. Written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who is good friends and a huge fan of Al. Miranda asked Al to do this polka medley and loved it. There is video of him listening to it for the first time.
Thank you for the background information! I will definitely look those videos up and react to them soon! The subscriber that referred me to thisHas a lot of videos from weird Al and suggested it to me
Came to say all of this. I'll also add: Lin-Manuel is a huge Al fan and had no chill when he met Al for the first time. They're good friends now! :)
It's actually hilarious seeing your reaction without being familiar with the actual musical. But you really should see it, Hamilton is amazing, and it'll make you appreciate Weird Al's polka all the more.
There are three main classifications of Weird Al songs:
1. Parodies. These are the most well-known. If you're going to do more of these, you have plenty to choose from. "Eat It", "Fat" (both Michael Jackson parodies), "I Perform This Way" (Lady Gaga), "Tacky" (Pharrell Williams) "Smells Like Nirvana", etc. When possible, try to watch the original video before reacting to catch many of the subtle nods he puts in his parody videos.
2. Style parodies. These are original songs that mimic the style of another artist so well you swear it's a parody of something. Things like "Velvet Elvis", "Germs:, "You Don't Love Me Anymore", "Virus Alert" and "Mission Statement" fall into this category,
3, Polka medleys. Al's parents got him accordion lessons as a youth, so he takes a medley of similar songs and puts them to a polka beat. The Hamilton Polka used songs from the Hamilton musical.
Good luck with your channel!
As someone else just said, the lyrics (and the original melodies) are by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Who is besties with Alfred Yankovic. Really. They are huge fans of each other's work.Take a look at the Jimmy Kimmel episode when they both found out they'd be on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
He actually used the lyrics from a ton of songs from the Hamilton Musical, 😀
But he completely wrote this instrumental! 😎
I recommend listening to the entire Hamilton soundtrack! You can look up animatics to watch along with the music. My personal favorite animatics are from Szin and Ziksua. All lyrics from the polka are from Hamilton.
I don’t think Cat knows this is all from the most famous modern musical
Okay...so this guy claims to be a music buff AND a Weird Al fan, but he doesn't know just from the title that this is a Polka Medley of the musical Hamilton?
Okay, 2 things. First, there's this musical called 'Hamilton.' It's just the biggest thing to hit Broadway since the Millenium. All the lyrics are from that musical.
Second, Weird Al has a tradition of doing medleys of popular music reset to polka. He's done one on every album since his third.
I loved him scoffing like this music is beneath him. What a joke hahah
Al........... KILLED IT!!!
I'm glad you liked it!
Great review, dude! :D
Watch Hamilton! There is a video of Weird Al's Hamilton polka that synchs to the performance. Also find Jimmy Fallon and Lin Manuel Miranda's reaction to the Hamilton polka

Weird Al did not write the music or the lyrics. He arranged existing music, produced the recording, and sang. I don't doubt he played at least the accordion and had a hand in the choice of sound effects.
Someone else decided to edit in excerpts of the existing 2hr & 40min Disney film of the musical to matchup songs, singing, dance, and performance to Weird Al's version. It was an act of love and reverence and resulted in pure art. Sorry you didn't get to experience that.
Plese react to the Hamliton soundtrack and use the animatics on youtube its great
You're a music guy but you A: are not aware of Hamilton and B snap on 1 and 3. WTH?
You NEED to watch Hamilton
How long does Hamilton run?
@@mrodmediampire4735 2 hours 30 minutes
Wait so this music buff doesn't even know that the biggest Broadway musical Hamilton exists...
Or Weird Al and what he does...other than "he does parodies."
And scoffs at how ridiculous this song is...
wow. wowowowowowow
Then tries to act like he has respect for...THE PARODY OF THIS POLKA. Whaaaaaaaat?🤣
I'm not trying to be a dick, but don't act like you are above ppl and a music buff when you have no idea what you are doing.
