  • Incredible footage of Rafael Nadal Training in Indian Wells 2019 ATP. He looks intense and focused and seems to be hitting the ball clean. He is a big favourite at the tournament amongst fans and is expected to go far in the event. Rafael Nadal Forehand and Rafael Nadal Backhand are both extremely solid but the Nadal forehand spin is unlike any other pro and he gets much higher bounces off the court due to the ball rotation he applies.

    What do you think about Rafa this year, can he get back to World No.1?

    • @mavric2467

      of course not

    • @TangoTran
      @TangoTran 5 лет назад +25

      Unlikely. He struggled against old man Fed in recent head to head meetings. He got destroyed by Djoko at the AO and Djoko is now in a zone that no one player can take him out of. Younger and healthier guys waiting in the wing are not going to wait around forever. But he's favored to add at least one slam for the year. If he win the FO, which he should, then his camp and fans can consider it a good year.

    I always see above court footage of him playing. Im like why is he grunting so loud, hes not hitting the ball to hard. Now that i see court level, Im like, man this guy should be grunting way louder.

    • @supercritic100
      @supercritic100 5 лет назад +62

      I mean you can see clearly that the grunting is synchronized with the effort he is putting into those shots. In WTA it really doesn't seem that way.

    • @lilbird2734
      @lilbird2734 5 лет назад +10

      I think it is a way to put more of a hard solid hit. He does it when he hits hard. Forced air out of the lungs tightening the abdomen. Al the power comes off the arms, shoulders. Also to tighten nerves of the opponet some say. Not certain. Probably uncle Tony taught him that.

    • @phengyang2639
      @phengyang2639 5 лет назад +12

      As someone who tries to play tennis going in at least 60-80% for every shot for 1-2 hours, I’ve noticed you really need to breathe well to maintain your strength at those prolonged playtimes and I’ve noticed grunting can be another form of making you forget about unnecessary things which could hinder your form as tennis is a very technical sport

    • @kururugi8221
      @kururugi8221 4 года назад +2

      Pheng Yang I agree with this, when I focus on breathing, I tend to get into the zone much faster and hit more efficiently.

    • @JiraiyaSama86
      @JiraiyaSama86 4 года назад

      The grunting can be a sure sign that you are breathing properly into your shots. There are a few videos which explain when you should be breathing in and out during stroke production as well as how certain breathing patterns help in generating power.

He is the one player that grunts from actual 100percent effort! When ahh comes from his mouth with every shot you can clearly hear its from deep in his lungs and from giving 100percent not just to frustrate the opponent! Now lets not get into the argument of who the greatest player is im just saying he is my favorite player ever to watch! There are some low forehands from Nadal that seemed effective and could be great on grass... To anyone who knows... is his heavy top spin forehand that he uses for clay season?... is it his natural stroke where he feels most comfort or confidence?... Or he don't want to mess with it combining it with a flatter stroke? Anyway, the man is prepared for war in the tennis court.

      Two great champions from earth!
      But Roger and Rafa are not from this planet.
      The broke a lot thats right!They broke limits and records,they broke barriers and frontiers and they are sportsmen like no other!

      @@JoseAlvarez-dp8fz they are great I agree.. but I don't think Federer is a sportsman.. He's a sore loser and used to think he was THE GOAT. Now he has been humbled because Rafa and Djokovic have shown him they will surpass him. For example- the wimbledon final where he cries and steals the spotlight from Rafa's victory. Anyway, he's not anywhere near as bad as Serena--so I guess it's OK.... ;)

    Love this camera angle.
    Rafa's two handed backhand, except for some obvious differences, reminds me of a modern version of a classic two hander of a Jimmy Connors or a Chris Evert, with its straight arm, compact backswing.

    Interesting change to rafas forehand lately. Instead of closing his racket face during his take back, he is leaving it open. Federer has also "made" this change lately although not as extreme. If you go back and watch both of their strokes from 2 years ago there are massive differences in take back that are super interesting
