Good video Andy, I would probably do a test revving from 4500 to 7000rpm where the cams really show the difference over stock and I would suspect the time improvements would be even greater than the 2 second ones you observed. Lovely car all round and definitely a sleeper with great all round performance. Jared@DS
Oh heya Jared. Yeh true I wish I had done a before test to do that. I will be doing a POV drive out soon for just pure sound to let people hear what the car sounds like as a driver now. Sounds so good
Was just wondering if you still had this car buying another zetec s tomorrow may have to pick your brain about the seats as I want my mk7 seats back 😂
Yeh still have it, never selling it.
So I have videos on my fitting methods and post mods on them but I can also talk to you and try help. Can always contact me on Instagram @drive_with_andy
hey andy, im 19 (20 this year), passed my test in december last year and im looking at getting a mk5 st as a first car. im more than happy with paying 3k ish on insurance. i was wondering if you could let me know what to look for when searching for one of these? love the content mate.
Thanks man. I think the other comment on the video Suma up everything to look out for. All depends on each cars history and mileage though
You’ll struggle to find a mk5 ST since they only came in the mk6 :P
Also rust is their biggest issue now. Doesn’t take much to find it. Pop your head under the back end and look at the rear axle. Also make sure it doesn’t have blue smoke either. Check for power steering noises under load as they chew them also inspect the coolant as some are prone to head gasket failure. End of the day they are a 15 year Old Ford so don’t expect to find mint ones laying around.
Great content as always Andy! Can't say I'm not jealous ;)
Thanks 😊
Sounds epic now. Did you get the aero bonnet latch rubber/adjustment sorted to get the bonnet sitting lower?
So at DS they adjusted a bit but it ideally wants to sit a few mm lower so when at the bodyshop next I will see if he can sort that
@@DriveWithAndy I wonder if you could remove the rubber sleeves yourself and remove a few mm off each one and re install? Sounds good though. Once that's done what does the remainder of 2024 have in store for the car mate?
@@lewisstorer89 yeh i think plan would be trim a fewmm off the rubber stoppers and try lower the red pins. So once paid back these mods the plan is i want the rusted strut brace re powder coated gold and the top mounts painted panther black then i want to try get the rest of the Maxton splitters before the summer, hopefully. then save up for the seats to be re trimmed nappa leather, black alcantara and gold stitching
@@DriveWithAndy sounds a great list mate. Keep up the good work.
Wonderful sound 👍
It really is
Power steering they love to make noise as the res is on the engine gets hot if it’s higher mileage then 100k they love to burn oil gear boxes are crap mines done 104k and screams like hell the boot love to leak water they drink fuel like no tomorrow(but all st might not suffer with these problems) the ones I listed are what I know of the top of my head
Just to check is this in reply to the comment asking for advise
The manifold just completely changes the intake sound on these. Even running just running high lift cams changes the sound. Got that sort of Honda vtec to it :P
Yeh the deeper raw is so cool
@@DriveWithAndy supercharger kit next :P
@@RosskoPeeko it's the only performance mod I'd consider in the future but honestly for my wants and needs 200bhp and 177ftlbs is great fun for me 😁
@@DriveWithAndy supercharged ST was a dream for me back in the day. If I didn’t crash mine then I would have been done
@@RosskoPeeko it's best of both worlds, still keeps it a bit NA but with the power of a Turbo and also you the jet engine sound
