Glad you had fun with this one! For what it's worth, I think the movie intentionally made Billy act so suspicious from the start because they wanted the audience to dismiss him as "too obvious" to actually end up being the killer. Basically trying to outplay the audience members who've watched a lot of mysteries/thrillers by making a character SEEM like the "red herring" but then it's a double-fakeout and it really is him. :)

Yeah. But they overdid it. They should have stopped with the red herring after the phone-jail sequence.
Once he got out of jail and started acting super weird and suspicious, there's no logical storyline reasoning for him not to be the killer. No one acts like that if they aren't a killer.

Wes Craven directed both Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream, thus the Easter egg with the janitor dressed up like Freddy Krueger. The janitor's name was Fred and it was actually Wes Craven as the Janitor in a cameo! The principal of the school is Henry Winkler aka Fonzie from Happy Days, but also a director and actor.

Ah, the days of a good and creative scary movie. We had so much fun watching this in middle school when it came out! Scream 2 is actually one sequel that lives up the the original. A lot of people like it better than Scream. Definitely worth a watch. Also, if you like this movie, I would highly recommend Wes Craven’s New Nightmare. It was basically the beginning of the “when horror meets reality” theme that so many movies (like Scream) followed later. New Nightmare shines because you can go from A Nightmare on Elm Street to it without missing a beat. It makes all sequels in between pretty much irrelevant, which a lot of people don’t mind since they weren’t as good in comparison. The acting, storyline, returning cast and all of the Easter eggs throughout New Nightmare are golden! Love you guys! 💕

A pure masterpiece in the slasher genre. literally saved the genre that was dying. Wes and Craven did a stunning job on this, the self referential style, the kids knowing the horror scene etc. brilliant. Neve as Sidney is for sure the best final girl along with Jamie Lee. You must do all the films, it's all one story.

In the movie store scene where Randy and Stu are discussing possible motives Billy could have for being the killer, there's a promotional poster for the 1993 film 'Mother's Boys' that starred Jamie Lee Curtis (considered to be one of the all time great "scream queens" of horror cinema and also star of 'Halloween' and 'Prom Night' which the film references) as a wife/mother that abandons her husband and three sons with no explanation. When she returns hoping to reconcile with her husband he has a new girlfriend and she convinces her eldest son that she's personally what stands in the way of their family reuniting, prompting him to devise a plan to get her out of the picture. Doesn't really work as a "clue" but after the reveal, it's a clever easter egg fans might notice upon later viewings...

I recommend this movie if you haven’t already seen it. There was a few references to the movie in Scream, Tatum’s shirt with 10 on it just like Depp’s character in Elm Street plus Drew Barrymore mentions it at the start. This movie is a classic. I think part of the reason that we didn't suspect Billy when this originally came out was because yes he acted strange but they are also in high school and he played that weird loner boy role. I also think it was to make us think it was obvious but then show that it's not as obvious as we think and then add another twist. Either way when I watch it now, I'm like yeah you can tell something is off with Billy!! This movie definitely changed horror and that is also what makes it a classic. I'm glad you enjoyed this one and hopefully you check out the rest of them...although they aren't all good but worthy to see.

This movie revived the horror genre in the 90’s much like Tombstone brought back westerns. At the time horror movies became a joke as Freddie and Jason became corny. This created horror for teens of the 90’s by putting the young popular good looking actors in these ensemble “scary” movies. After this we got “I know What you did…”, “Urban Legends” etc.

This is one of my favorite scary movies and brings back so many memories. I remember being in 9th grade and watching this movie on VHS at my best friend's house on a Friday night during a sleepover. Even though he was creepy, I remember how we all thought Billy was cute because he looked like a discount Johnny Depp. And when he and Stu were revealed to be the killers, I remember gasping and shouting out, "THEY'RE IN CAHOOTS!" and everyone laughing afterward. And when you look back on that video shop scene with Randy, Billy and Stu, it's amazing how much foreshadowing there was and how that scene pretty much gave up the end of the whole movie...and none of us knew it at the time. It was genius.

The song you think was playing in the movie is really by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds song, Red Right Hand. Billy had mommy abandonment issue even though it was his father’s choice. The principa, Mr. Himbrey, is played by Henry Winkler who played The Fonz in the tv show in the ‘70’s, Happy Days. This movie had that predicability element but it there were parts where it threw off the viewer until the end. This movie was filmed in Northern California and the houses there are beautiful. Hope you guys are the other parts to Scream. There is a new Scream 6 that will take place in New York City even though it’s filmed somewhere in Canada.
