Gorgeous! There is Nothing more beautiful than to explore a new place or revisit a cherished one. Travelling along with you Gabe, can’t wait to see where you go next. 🌍
My grandparents are from Tyrol and it’s my dream to someday see this beautiful region!! I have an authentic Tyrolean walking stick that my uncle brought back in the 1970’s when he visited there. Enjoy your time there and thank you again for providing this wonderful opportunity for me to see all the amazing people and places you visit ❤🙏🥰☮️
Just go for it! Austria is a very well organized and safe country. Dont know where you are from but the only challange is probably to find an affordable intercontinental flight. My philosophy is: When you want something, just go for it. Life is too short and opportunities too rare.
Aww, you are so sweet to offer the encouragement!! I will definitely do my best to get there soon!! I live in Maryland in the USA. Currently have a son in medical school and two other kids in university so the time is coming…. Thank you for the reply ❤🙏☮️
Yeahhhh...go there...if you are from US, you will find Austria super cute🎉, also, Austrians are famous for good service in restaurants/hotels. One even says ' do me the Austrian way' if one wants someone to be super polite
I went to Vienna, Austria in 2022, beautiful city so much to see and do, then I went to Hallstatt up in the Alps , breathtaking, and took another day trip to Bratislava , Slovakia.
We saw the Alps when we were on our way (my Grandparents and I) to Vienna in January of '79. Beautiful mountains! Just marvels, them! You will love Vienna!
That fortress/castle is cool, what history! Europe of 500 or 1000 years ago had wholly different paradigm to exist in peacefully. Looking forward to more from Austria.
What an incredible video! Someone else probably looked this up already, but seems the leiergeige is a type of hurdy-gurdy. Love these videos. I am always awestruck by how the devastation of a world war is completely erased and wonder what some of these places looked like in 1944. I am fascinated by the areas thought to be old Celtic lands. Amazing to see you walking the tunnels under the fortress.
Wow those tunnels, absolutely incredible. Gabriel, thanks for the refreshing sip of your beer, hit the spot.🍺 You are always generous to share with us.😊❤
Great video beautiful town loved the tour of Kufstein fortress the tunnels were a bit creepy but lovely scenery from up there. Nice walk to the cave. Salzburg will have a lot more people but well worth visiting
In the buildings below the castle on the river side there is a pedestrian street where there is a cannon ball stuck in the wall that’s been there since the 1500’s I think it is. Also, you’re not far from Schloss Itter which was one of the last battles of WWII and only one of two occasions where Germans and Americans helped each other.
I was in Kufstein many times in past 15 years. My sister lives in Germany on the border with Austria. Actually I have a lot of friends they live in Austria. Thinking about moving somewhere around. Have Italy and Croatia also in mind.
Just a tipp, if you wanna go around Austria by train and public transport then there is the possibility to buy a "Vorteilscard". It's one time 66 Euro and every ticket price is half. It's worth it pretty fast. It's cheaper for families, children or older people. I think it's also for most inner city public traffic and also has advantages when you plan to go to other European countries.
If you have time then take a train to Werfen from Kufstein and visit Eisriesenwelt - the largest ice cave in the world Eisriesenwelt Cable car and cave in Werfen, Austria. It will be a worth while natural beauty to visit. My family and I drove a car there from Salzburg to see the cave and take the tour. Also there will be a hike uphill to reach the cave. Gabe traveler the Hiking king !! and the beer taster! whenever you say you like one, i totally trust you voice tone !beautiful region, very picturesque.😊👌✌
Being from Sweden, typically seen as an expensive country, I am totally flabbergasted by the prices for train rides in other western European countries. A 90 minutes train ride between my town and the city of Malmö goes for about €11 fixed price for a ticket bought on the day of travel, that's how it should be. And it's not like we have lower incomes and living standards than the rest of Europe or anything like that. In other high income countries in Europe I traveled in I found only Belgium and Ireland to have reasonable train fares.
I may be way off here but I think the astronomical prices are by design to attract the ‘right type’ of tourist and resident. These prices work to restrict access. While I can technically afford these prices, I am completely turned off my the audacity of charging these exorbitant prices for food and transportation.
@@VKS4life I really do not get the dislike some countries have for budget travelers and why they want to avoid them. I am a backpacker and budget traveler and never harmed or offended anyone on my travels and as far as I know this is not a behavior typical for backpackers and budget travelers, the really annoying tourists like stag parties usually stay in fancy hotels and have quite a big budget. Trains are a very much vital means of commuting for both leisure and work and should therefore have prices that more or less everyone can pay easily without breaking the bank, in my opinion that is, and it's good for the environment too and vastly reduces pollution by cars the cheaper the train fares are. Belgium is an extremely good model with train fares fixed to all destinations and all trains (except international trains) and doesn't change by popularity or the closer it gets to the day of travel, and the prices are considerably lower than in for example France and Austria no matter which way you put it, this despite that they have roughly the same living standards and incomes. In Sweden also we have humane train fares and I rarely ever see our trains get annoyingly overcrowded by budget travelers exploiting cheap train fares. High speed trains has prices that change by popularity yes, but not with astronomical prices. Local trains and slow trains have fixed prices that are very much affordable. These ripoffs on food and train fares is the main reason why I prefer traveling in Southern Europe and the countries that are in the former Eastern Bloc and former Yugoslavia, so if these other countries hates people like me and doesn't want us to go there I guess they are successful!
@@vaultkeeper2 well, I think you’re right. Except for Zermatt, which I would willingly pay a premium to visit because of the majestic Matterhorn, I will stay clear of the rest of Switzerland and Austria, on principle. Rather spend a fortune elsewhere.
@@VKS4life Yes, there are medieval towns and cities just as amazing in the Czech Republic and Poland as there are in Austria and Switzerland, but for only a fraction of the price. I agree, if going there it has to be for something very special like the mountains that can't be found elsewhere. Earlier this month, I visited the 2 towns Kutna Hora and Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic (or Czechia as some prefer to call it), they were amazing and unlike these towns in the videos from Switzerland and Austria where there doesn't appear to be a single soul outside, these towns were full with visitors from all over the world enjoying the places and marvelling at the architecture and there was live music, one can really wonder why this difference, yeah! And as seen in Sweden and Belgium, just because your country's rich it doesn't mean you have to rip people off.
In my opinion gondola, funicular, and toboggan are all modes of transport having funny names. Merry go round on the other hand is something not to be messed with. Little girl with the creepy doll is always round the corner
Hi Gabriel, the castle looks like something from Mary Shelly's Frankenstein. I could see the townspeople chasing the monster across the bridge with pitchforks. It's surprising not a tourist attraction to this cave's remarkable area nicely tucked away. Gabriel, I don't you're making a stop there, but Vienna is the City of Dreams or the City of Music, the home of Mozart and Beethoven and the world's first psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud.
He has already been to Vienna some years earlier. In Austria, there are many bigger and more attractive (mainly high mountain caves) as karst with all its phenomena is widely presented in the Northern Limestone Alps, although these caves are not that spectacular as some caves in Dinaric Alps, such as Postojna Cave in Slovenia. However, near Werfen (40 km south of Salzburg), there is the amazing ice cave system named Eisriesenwelt where ice is all year long on the elevation of 1,656 m. In Werfen is also the amazing fortress that is similarly attractive as that in Kufstein, with addition of some bird-of-prey shows up there.
Hi Gabe - please go see also Carinthia in Austria (on the boarder to italy / slovenia) - lots of lakes, mountains, castles, waterfall, lots of amazing hiking too :)
Austria is not expensive . You need to know where to go and when. You can save on train tickets 50% or more if you plan ahead. As everywhere else in the world if you plan ahead you save a lot. If you purchase tickets at the counter a few minutes before you travel you will pay full price.
Where are all the people?… We want Gabe in Lederhosen!!!! Please like this so he wears some 😂😂👍. Gabe if you push the button twice you go through the roof, it’s a WONKAVATOR!!!! 😃. Lunch looked good… Good luck going back up all those steps..
Gabriel, I know you like to leave a tip. When paying in cash, if the bill is €4.50 and you give €5 to the waiter, just say 'stimmt' - it saves his poor tired legs with the change!
Seeing his direction, wishes and that he has already seen Vienna and Bratislava (but also Prague), it really makes much sense to go to Češky Krumlov and Hluboka Castle after Salzburg. Then Brno, Trenčin, Prievidza (Bojnice Castle and Čičmany) and Visoke Tatry (Štrbske Pleso, Lomnicky Štit). Although Karlovy Vary and Plzen are amazing, too, but off the path. After Visoke Tatry in High Tatras, path can go through Hungary to Romania to be outside of the Schengen Zone for some time.
I've wanted to see Cesky Krumlov, will check it on the map and see what makes the most sense. I haven't decided yet where I'm going tomorrow so I'm checking the options.

Greek living in Vienna? Cool. I actually have a train reserved to Vienna tomorrow, but will probably just catch another train without stopping because I was there in 2017.
HI, Gabriel! I think, you should travel to Hungary, Slovakia and Poland after your Austrian journey. Although, We are in the high season, you Will find much reasonable prices than in Austria. As a Hungarian I would suggest you coming to the Balaton lake. The summer temperature is much moderate here and the lake is warmer than anywhere in Greece, not talking about Croatia...
Lake Balaton is surely one of the warmest water lakes in Europe in Summer because the average depth of the lake is only 3 meters, with only one river tributary of river Zala. However, Lake Neusiedl on the Austrian-Hungarian border, known as the "Viennese Sea" is in average only 1 meter deep with no tributaries (therefore the only source of water are precipitations and the lake is endorheic), so maybe it can warm up even more. On the shores of Lake Balaton, Tihany and Balatonfüred are really nice towns in my opinion, especially Tihany. I also had a nice experience in Tapolca with underground lake boat ride, Tapolcai tavasbarlang. However, I don't see other Hungarian cities and towns (except for Budapest, where Gabriel has already been) anything special for a worldwide tourist as there are many similar towns in all the area of former Austro-Hungarian Empire. In Czechia, Poland and Romania are more special towns in my opinion and Slovakia has amazing High Tatra mountains with some interesting mountainous architecture. Nevertheless, as a Slovenian, a neighbour, I love your country Hungary, too.
@@Ojstra There are very interesting towns in Hungary even for a World traveller. I recommand to visit Veszprém, very near to the Balaton lake, Sopron near to the Austrian border, and Eger at the Mátra mountain. Obviousely, Czechnia and Slovenia sufferd less from wars than Hungary, (we lost almost 2/3 of our territory) and there are much stronger Habsburg influence than in Hungary. Visiting those countries You might think, you are in Austria. Hungary is more different, an authentic experience in Central Europe. ( If you know where to go...) If someone want to see old german/Habsburg Europe, I recommand going to Austria , Czechia or Slovenia. If you want to see somewhat different, than go to Hungary. Not talking about the traveling cost: Hungary is the cheapest

If someone want to see old german/Habsburg Europe, I recommand going to Austria , Czechia or Slovenia. If you want to see somewhat different, than go to Hungary. Not talking about the traveling cost: Hungary is the cheapest
I once worked with a person from Austria. Once
I think that odd-looking instrument is a hurdy-gurdy. Always wondered what one of them looks like.
Let me know if you come to Munich next 👍🤔
Good morning Gabriel from Montreal. ✌
Alright Gabe, how do you manage your laundry between moving around all the time? You’ve got a phenomenal video out out rate - always enjoy the watch 👍
Harld Baldr who is now in India kept mentioning you (Gabriel Taveler) in his vlog😊😊. Have you watched his video?
In my opinion, Harld Baldr is not the most honourable of men.
I recall Harald mentioned Gabriel in his Nepal 🇳🇵 video a year ago
@dee74raz yes, and maybe I'm cynical, but I always feel like he is taking the p...
Its so cool youre in Austria. G'day. Pop a few shrimps on the barbie? Did you see any kangaroos?
That instrument would have been a Hurdy-Gurdy
That tunnel was so long I inadvertently nodded off somewhere in the middle of it due to continuance and monotony
, dreamt of being undertaker driving hearse on a steep Greek island I had seen on one of your videos, then suddenly a bulldozer passed by my house woke me up, and you were still going through the tunnel
just say Danke for thank you.
Awww, your in Austria again!! I m here in my home country too at the moment, just arrived 🇦🇹💛 Saw your videos of Switzerland, close to Italy and was wondering if Austria is comming next. Could have given you a ride through Northern Italy to Austria last week. 😄
Haha, you should get some Lederhosen. 😆
Hey there, I just sent you a message on facebook.
Do they go with suspenders and a hat?
I got lost while coming down the mountain and saw a cave with the curtains. I thought that's why they say: stick to the trail!
I love your videos, you the OG. Do you know why Harald Balder always says “Gabriel traveler high roller mode”? I I missed that inside joke. And don’t go to Russia either
So much more interesting than those boring Greek islands one after another :-)
I also discovered Kufstein through the screensaver image, just a few days ago and added it to my “to visit” list. But I got to travel there sooner than anticipated when RUclips presented your video. Coincidence? Or creepy AI stalking? Anyway, great video and I enjoyed the visit as usual.
Cool. 👍
You are adding background music as you walk through the Castle? Or is there stupid spooky music playing inside the Castle?
I wish you would pronounce "Lederhosen" like the sound of the English word "Later" rather than Lieder, which is a word meaning "songs".
17:54 How does the forest know where to stop spreading and let the rest be a neat meadow?
Is that phenomenon localized to Austria, Switzerland, and Germany?
Omg, are you coming to Slovenia? 😊
Weissbier best beer! Wish they were more common is america
13:11 Looks like a Hurdy-Gurdy.

I only been to Wienna and Bern in Schweiz expensive country,s like rest of west Europe.
Imagine they dug that 213 foot well with nothing but picks and shovels.

oh nice Salzburg! The city of Mozart
Awesome
Are you planing to visit Czech Republic after Austria?
I was wondering ....will you climb a mountain in the Alps.?.....Grosslockner in the Austrian Alps seems to be a great one.....I've seen videos here on YT of climbers successfully reaching its summit.....the cross on the summit looks amazing
Mountaineering in sandals?
But then only with warm wool socks. 😂
You can save a substantial amount of money by purchasing your train ticket well in advance.
True. Problem is my style of traveling is very spontaneous. I literally don't know which country I'm traveling to tomorrow. Booking trains more than a day or two in advance wouldn't work for me.
