For an atrocious person who burned people at the stake, Melisandre's death made my eyes moist. She was so done with life. Her theme here returns with notes of regret and sadness. Aaah so beautiful
She had a purpose. Now that purpose had been served. She wasn’t atrocious she did what she thought was right she failed and conquered by redeeming herself and died under her own terms since she served her purpose. She was right all along but was an outcast . Best character in the show
@@darkheartdeep yes exactly 💯 👏 She only did such things cause she believed they were necessary She redeemed herself by helping TREMENDOUSLY to vanquish the night king & his army
Melisandre's death was the most beautiful and moving sequence of the show entire show. I just felt it so deeply. This centuries old woman finally able to be at peace.
For the episode to go from the triumph of the wights collapsing to the death of Jorah to Melisandre effectively committing suicide gave it such a beautifully sombre ending and the music at the end really carries that. It's probably my second favourite ending of the whole series.
Melisandre had one of the greatest characters development in the series, from a jerk witch to a miserable one who failed several times and committed crimes that regretted them later. Thanks Melisandre.. Thanks Carice Van Houten for the great performance.. Thanks Ramin for the best track in the whole show
So true, Carice van Houten's performance is so underrated. I hated Melisandre the first few seasons when she was all "for the night is dark and full of terrors" but since the murder of Shireen and the death of Stannis, she became a deeper character, probably one of the most mysterious and interesting
Even tho Melisandre made many mistake that caused thousands death, she was also a human being not just a witch. Her eyes were shaken and her voice was full of sorrow when Davos interrogated her for shireen's death.
Austin Pacheco Her presence in this episode is the only thing I liked in the entire season lmao it was the only thing that was well done and felt right. Her story was ended flawlessly.
That’s part of why I like how they did killing the NK. Melisandre gets a vision right in the end, concluding her redemption. Also that it’s a Stark is good with the ties.
Nah fuck that, she wasn't redeemed for burning children in my book. I do agree that her presence and conclusion like this made sense though, I'm glad they did her character arc justice.
I love how from 2:42 onward, it’s a variation of “Warriors of Light” (AKA: the theme you hear with just about any mention of the Lord of Light). That theme is normally very creepy and mysterious, but this variation conveys simultaneous tones of sadness and hope as Melisandre fades away as the sun rises. This was a fantastic piece to end the episode on. Ramin Djawadi got an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Music in a Series for the episode “The Long Night.” This theme and “The Night King” were absolutely my favorite parts of the episode.
They gave you a bit of everything. Not every character has an "arc". Life is not like this. People don't have a "purpose", they try their best. And then there are people who refuse to see that characters like Jaime or Jon had a full arc, because they cannot accept the flaws in said favourite characters. Maybe time will help you to accept.
great war kek. more as a great nothing...the episode promised so much death tears and struggle....and then they ended the thread fo all time like a fucking joke
Ramin has the ability of making his compositions emotional as heck. Even if there was a lot of plot armor, all the sacrifices that took place were seriously sad.
I love how everyone at the end of reaction vids always observe that in this moment you get to see that she "served her purpose", which is huge in GoT: and that was why she got to fade away in peace after she completed her last mission. Her lord of light gave her rest. Loved it.
Recently re-watched the entire series. Season 8, Episode 3, I found myself absolutely mesmerized by the soundtrack. The music, the silence, composed and placed perfectly throughout the entire episode. A hauntingly beautiful , mesmerizing soundscape experience.
Honestly the last few chords gave me major Lost vibes with the life and death theme that Giacchino created, I love this ending so much, it really captures the weariness of Melisandre's character
If the battle with the dead had been the last battle of the series , little would it had mattered how they ruined The rest of the characters , this is the real ending of got for me, Arya defeating the night king.
He wouldn't have let her descent into madness for sure. You have to remember of all the people who were there, he had been the one who was by her side the longest. The others did not know how tragic her path truly was... They only knew of her glory and her dragons. Nothing else mattered then
@@soulxxi EXACTLY!!!! I do believe if Jorah was still around, she wouldn't have done all that madness. And if for some reason ANYONE killed her JON /TYRION he would have killed them both with no hesitation.
@@lacecy1990 I understand the ending of the story was rushed, lesson was to make us see even the nicest of people can be corrupted by power or their good intentions be misguided. Olenna did instruct Dany to become the dragon she dreaded to be. I guess they weren't counting with the turn of events that ultimately led to Dany's demise. I feel for Jon. Yes now he is free of all obligation and he can be happy in the real north but I doubt his memory or any action of his may help him live without the remorse of killing the woman he loved (and also the last of his Targaryen blood).

This ending would have been a much better and fitting ending for such an amazing show. Unlike the terrible ''happy ending'' we got in episode 6 with the Starks hugging each other and Tyrion and co cracking jokes after thousands or millions have died and the end of the world was barely avoided. They utterly removed any weight or emotion that could have been associated with the conclusion of such a massive, epic tale. RIP GoT.
Wow from day one I didn’t like her she seemed...on edge. I remember the dude tried to poison her and I was rooting for the old dude. Surprisingly when she burned Shireen I started to like her. It seemed as if it was a necessary evil.... in hind sight it was (only death pays for life a death of an heir brought back and heir, which in turn gave Jon back winterfell and caused Arya to join in the fight.) Melisandre’s death was bad ass and well deserved. It made people like my mom (who was still kind of skeptical of her in season 7) appreciate her actions
Though D&D ruined the major characters, at least they didn't ruin the minor ones, like Melisandre, she was able to redeem herself for her actions and became respected by us.

i feel that by the lasts seasons of this tv show, the music tells another story completely better and different
3:27 my best part it sounds too strange and sad thnx sir djawadi
one of the most moving arrangements I have ever heard
Beautiful, very touching! I was sad when Melisandre died, I love her character in the GOT ♥️♥️♥️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This music is truly a masterpiece
the dislike probably from Ser Davos who couldn't yeet Melissandre himself
I don't blame him, I would have been pissed she left on her own terms, too!
*AND SO OUR WATCH FOR THE SPIN-OFFS BEGINS*
HBO better hurry up

2:56. Goodbye team Dragonstone.

Daenerys Targaryen loyalist 😔
I cried along with Dany and Drogon 😭

5 years later, i still think about this song 💃🏻
best moment! rip melissandre
Can't hear this soundtrack without crying 😔💔💔💔 jorah's death still so hard for me 💔 rip #Herewestand 🐻🖤
I felt shaken when the Red priest died. More affected than the death of the night king. Such beautiful music
I remember poor Daenerys Targaryen crying over Jorah's body and Drogon landing and encircling them.
Want a prequel of Asshai.. ⭐️
