It’s also really interesting how he twisted it- he played the accompaniment in C minor, but played the theme in C major or a variant, which creates this really cool clash

I wish she had taken the Throne in S7 and being Queen she could've sent plenty of people 2 Winterfell . I loathe Sansa Stark who sent a Raven 2 Cersei. How was Sansa getting information? She just wanted 2 be Queen.

Dany made peace with Cersr
This is before she burns the city and you can hear elements of disaster and chaos here. Listening to this by itself its almost as though she planned never to stop from the beginning as if she was gonna say something like "see how your queen fails to defend you and now your allegiance to her will be rewarded with death." as she continues to burn kingslanding to the ground. Ramin Djawadi was carrying this season on his back. And the light of the seven playing towards the end, Cersie's choices and the consequences coming full circle on her. The building's already collapsed on her in this song it makes her death actually seem thematic.
I just noticed that the motif at 4:10 is part of the piano part from Light of the Seven, leading into the remix of Light of the Seven shortly after. Absolutely genius. He turned a soft, somber, and mysterious piece into something truly tragic and desperate.
6:15 Ramin puts this theme as this was the exact theme that was playing when Cersei blew up the High Septor. This time she sees Dany destroying her city

To those whom are reading this, I can only imagine you're here for the same reason I am. It's comforting to know that I'm not crazy as there are ppl like me who get it. This is arguably the greatest Game of Thrones track that Ramin Djawadi has produced. And this is coming from someone who has followed all of his soundtracks from both Game of Thrones and West World.
Absolutely. The way he has subtly grown the Targaryen theme from being heroic and noble in the first three seasons to menacing and evil is just brilliant.

His son Meagor Targaryen definitely had this theme though. It seems to fit him more perfectly then his father.

Cersei watches down from the red keep through the smoke as Daenerys and her dragon lay waste to her city, and Cersei is stuck in denial at her circumstance after not wanting to lose her last child. She doesn't have Jaime in this moment. She doesn't have her children. She doesn't have her father, she doesn't have anybody or anything. She is the queen of nothing at this point and all she can do is watch her city get taken from her, as she cannot accept death yet.

I love the opening to this piece! Ramin uses polytonality (the Targaryen motif kinda shifts around key centers, but the accompaniment stays firmly rooted in C minor) and hemiola (tri-pa-let tri-pa-let one two three) give the piece a crazy unsettling atmosphere

I just noticed that at 2:50 is the sound of a Stuka dive bomber. The Nazi bomber plane used in WW2. I knew I saw parallels between mad queen Dany and Hitler and Ramin added it to his music as well. What a genius!

even if this season was a bit of a disappointment, the music this season was some of the best in the whole show. even after the whole summer that passed since the seasons release I still rewatch it just for the music paired up with the acton... and also euron, he's a madman and I love it!

Thats right , the only low note this year was the writing , the other areas were absolutely outstanding as usually , if the spin-off keep what was right of GOT and gets better on the writing the show will be great .
@@DaenerysTargaryenTheQueen It sucked , the writing department with dumb and dumber on the command , they are great adapting and getting the right people to work but lazy creating and writing new material , the end was as i expected to be not a happy one but so many things were so very rush and hurry , so many doors were left open in the end , so much contradiction , chapter 1 and 2 were good specially the 2 that was great , but the problem started with the chapter 3 , the dead of the night king by Arya and keeping Jaime alive 2 more episodes destroyed the rivalry couples that were builded with years just to make a shocking plot twist in the case of arya , the end of the night king had to be with Jon or Bran the only characters he had a connection with not even daenerys , in the case of jaime he had to die fighting a white walker his final line in the books had to be " died keeping his word fighting against the army of the dead " not getting him back to kings landing being arrested , breaking brienne heart , fighting euron was a dumb idea , his death could have destroyed cercei bringing to her some remorse for not sending the army north with him at command , on the other hand , brienne , lady mormont , theon , beric and the hound even the mountain had an ideal ending for each of them , if D & D would had accepted the idea from HBO to make 10 chapters so the things could have a proper pace in story telling could had things went for the better , HBO got the message from the rush season 7

@@professorbean5791 I'm still grappling with that one myself. Cersei even sent Bronn to either kill him or at least threaten him. The the actor who played Jamie said Cersei was an addiction. Addicts normally relapse when they're drug of choice is near by or they are experiencing some type of pain. Being that he was just with Brienne and had an opportunity for a new life it seemed to be neither. But I don't know, maybe it's possible that he could relapse knowing that his twin and unborn child were in danger. Hopefully will find answers soon in Winds of Winter. A Dream of Spring may take 10 years if ever.

More like The Dark Knight vibes for me, but yeah. Most battle themes from this season are very Zimmer like and it's a great tribute from Ramin.
I noticed a lot of the season 8 stuff had a Zimmer-esque feeling to it. The soundtrack in EP5 where the Greyjoy fleet, Unsullied, Northmen, Golden Company are preparing for battle sounded like the opening soundtrack of Dunkirk. The soundtrack that played during the surrender scene where the Lannisters put down their swords had a similar climax to the ship scene in The Dark Knight.
Extraordinary composing, nonetheless.

I love how her theme slowly became darker over the course of the show. How it was twisted into something sinister and dreadful instead of heroic.

for most of the story Dany was the representation of the greatness and good things the Targaryens could achieve. The end showed how terrible they also could be.

And that's what she's doing... except now it just sounds *wrong*, unsettling, and a tad horrifying.

the music during this scene did brilliantly twist that leitmotif, even if the scene was a bit disappointing.
It represents her slip into madness very well. Before, she calculated risks, considered how to achieve what she wanted with minimal casualties. However, at this point, she has lost all those who she trusted and loved, and who trusted and loved her and her alone. At this point, she has lost too much for this war and there will be no more waiting. There will be only revenge, and a world reborn from the ashes of conquest. The throne has always been so tantalisingly close, and yet she has had to hold back from it for moralities sake. The sight of Kings Landing, of the Red Keep, so close and with so much ease to reach, must have pushed her over the edge with the knowledge that if she had simply used the power of Drogon's fire from the moment she made landfall, she would possibly not have had to lose anything near as much and earned her throne.
Throughout her story, we saw how the people loved her and worshipped her. In Westeros, they spurned her and called her a foreigner, and even her own allies wished to supplant her with Jon, who she sacrificed her own dragon to save, who she lost so much of her armies for in the battle against the Night King, who she was even willing to sacrifice herself for so he could stop the Night King. Imagine all of that grief, sorrow and fear commingling towards the end. She wasnt justified in killing innocents, sure, but what lead to her madness was just so much to bear.
Ramin Djawadi did such an indescribably good job of capturing the inner workings of her mind from beginning to end!
