As usual, your video is shot so well. Everything you're talking about is in the shot and in focus, and all of the audio is crystal clear. Besides the excellent general info, I appreciate how professionally done your videos are.
Bought a center console out of a junkyard 2014 Fiesta SE and retrofitted it into my 2016 Fiesta S. Was in great condition and now the car is a lot more comfortable on longer trips. I also retrofitted cruise control.
great video as usual! to everyone asking where the shifter and handbrake are; these cars use a column type shifter that mounts to the steering column, and these cars are equipped with a "parking brake" not a handbrake that is a foot pedal.
Cardboard is super handy. I made a few things out of a thin, pressed cardboard specifically for my car. I created a little storage unit with a cup holder between my seats. I also created four equal-sized containers in the trunk of my car with slots & shelves to organize all my stuff and I also cut out handles to easily carry them and remove it all from my trunk in a jiffy. I also measured and created two small boxes about the size of a large toolbox that fit behind the driver & passenger seat for storage - they are designed so that the seats won't collide with them no matter how much they shift or recline by fitting just inside that safe zone. I lost too many things in my car that I had to have a place for all the stuff I had in there instead of just throwing it inside somewhere.
There is a counter sink attachment that slides over a drill bit so when you make your pilot holes it tapers the end and your screws will always be flush. They are also adjustable on the bit so it doubles as a depth gauge, highly recommended.
Is it only me thinking here that the thickness of that wood is a bit overkill for this sort of application? Other than that, very well described process!
For ease of build. Also, might be fuckin a fat bii im the crown vic. Would crush her self esteem if she crushed your center console. Then you'd have to goto wendys and fond another
if u use a bit smaller drillbit after you use the small one and just making a hole thats as big as the screw-head you will get it flush with the wood and ti will be less of a cheap look ;) allways smart to do :)
That editing showing multiple drilling moments at the same time was brilliant! I'm thinking brilliantly difficult as well. I can't wait to make a center console myself. I pulled my old one for a repair and I couldn't make myself put it back because it didn't suit my needs at all. This video series is exciting and I can't wait to share with you a built center console myself. :)
Yessss! I need to make one for my first gen Scion Xb, tired of not having an arm rest. There are a few aftermarket options but I think I could make one with better storage like yours & maybe add the charging ports Great vid! Thanks
+ChrisFix hey I need some help, my truck got a tune up 2 years ago and ever since the front ac vents stopped blowing air . My truck only blows air at the feet and defroster. How do I fix this?????
In germany the inspection will handle like: thats not original, we will take your car out of the register until you remove it. Highly illegal gangster! :D
I would HIGHLY recommend cutting with a jigsaw if you plan on cutting wood by hand. Used one's are well under $50 and you can get them even new from Amazon for under $50. Makes cutting very simple, quick, and you can even cut curves!
Hey dude i just want to say “no offence” your video are perfect to fall asleep to. NOT that your boring i really like your video’s. I think in pictures and your explaination is so good that i see the whole video in my head and i fall asleep really quick because i’m already really relaxed about your voice so thanks dude 🔥
1st time I'm seen someone interested by this sad car crown victoria it's really on side of the way from the world of customized and even nice and modern parts renew like headlights or center console. u make me happy may friend about my car crow victoria. thanks hope and looking to many many of video customized and fix about this car.
I am buying an ex police crown victoria with the same no center console issue. Instead I just want an arm rest and holes that will expose an aftermarket radio that will be mounted under it. So that instead of the radio being mounted on the dash, it is mounted in the center console. I think it'll be sick. This video is perfect actually.
I am a big fan of your videos, ChrisFix. I really like how people like you simply give all this information to us, for Free!! You don't even ask for anything, you are indeed the best engineer and car mechanic on the internet! I just think that you didn't really need to split this video in two, it would have been better in one bit. Anyways, when is another police car interceptor video coming out?
+Chinmay Gupta Thanks! This video took two straight weeks of 14hr days (weekends included) to make. I needed to split it up because there is too much editing to do for the other video which will take me another week or two.
ChrisFix So its the production process, which holds you back.. I get it. I personally use PowerPoint for any kind of editing. We all just don't know how advanced it is. You can seriously make professional videos with it, considering you have the latest version and everything. I like how you can lift up the center console and fit a third person in your truck, but is it legal to be at the front without a seat-belt?
this is great idea and easy to do . economic too . . and u can freely costumise it . . . i have just one advice is better make the storage top cover (elbow stand) open from front to back not left to right like u did because if u do it that way the person in the passenger seat cant use the storage . sorry for bad english its my third language 🙈 . by the way i like the way u explain things (clear and simple)
Thank you Chris I also have a crown victoria p71 and i love everything you're doing to yours.I would really like if you do more videos on it and you just got your self a new subscriber!!
Nice job, well done. The only issue is that when you drive, you have to keep both hands on the steering wheel, not on the central console as an armrest.
Excellent use of CAD. Cardboard Aided Design. Clever

reading this comment while "working using autoCAD" but really just watching this video in a small window so no one can see im actually on youtube.

His videos are at a nice pace. Doesn't take too much time to explain things, but also doesn't overlook important details.
Agreed!

This Chris dude is quite a handy fellow.
Chris that is awesome. I've been trying to figure out how to make a console for my 95 F150, and this video gave me so many ideas.
As usual, your video is shot so well. Everything you're talking about is in the shot and in focus, and all of the audio is crystal clear. Besides the excellent general info, I appreciate how professionally done your videos are.

I remember watching this video a long time ago and I still love and remember it.

Just like what?
+ChrisFix why make the wooden version when you have the fully functional cardboard one ready to go?
Haha

Yeah mental age is 12 at best. Had to do it. Sorry.
My car came with a center console. However, it is tempting to make one just so I can have built in DC ports instead of lose ones in the glove-box.
i enjoy how complete this is, like you show the entire process
chris videos are soo good that i watched this video and i donr even have a car nor does anyone need a center console .....Damn
Chris has a bunch of guys from all over the world to translate for him. Mine was in Swedish =)

Yep, was thinking the same.

P.s. jk nice video

We're screwed
cool, but next time I recommend counter sinking the holes before putting the screws in.
Love the camera edits when you were drilling the wood.
My center console lid fell off today and this video pops up on my recommended one year after being uploaded. Yes thanks
Why is the title and description translated in german?
what do you mean I looked at the Title and the discriptiom everything is in english

+Matthew Well probaly because you live in Germany, it's Dutch for me because i live in the Netherlands, it's pretty weird.
+Linus Wenell samma för mig
Is it possible to turn that off..?
Wtf? Why is everyone talking about the title and description?
😂
+Wtrxprs007able Yea, it is kinda sad that is the focus of the comments when there is so much more to the video than a title.
Grammar, to me it doesn't really matter that much. I still notice it, but I don't care as it's not the point of the video.
wtf why is the description in english?

That's not a centre console, it's a glove box/ arm rest!
Glovebox is in front of the passenger seat idiot
Yeah idiot

I still love the videos that you made 9-8 years ago. You say Hey guys! Chrisfix here. Without enthusiasm 😂
lol for a second i thought that would be an german video
why is the title translated? How ? Why ? I'm in California, isn't it suppose to be Spanish ?
