Chris, those lights on the rear bumper...the ones you decided to face sideways...GREAT IDEA! Not only does it provide light from all 4 sides, those lights are so bright, it creates a line on the road, making it even more visible. Thoroughly impressed...all police cars should have that mandatory. Kudos.
I would appreciate these on a cop car too- sometimes they jump ahead to "run a break" to get traffic to slow down b/c of fresh accident ahead of us, and it's so sudden then they weave across all the lanes- the light-line would be handy reference.
ChrisFix I got a 2000 Chevy Malibu that I want to strip to bare metal and lay down a couple layers of primer, but instead of paint, I want to wrap it, any ideas?
Just wrap the paint that is on it now. No need to strip it to bare metal. Bondo any dents or deep gouges and primer over that. Stripping the whole car of paint wont be easy or cheap
ChrisFix Yeah I know, but the paint that's on this car is ready to go anyway. I feel that just taking it all off and reprime is the way to go. Lots of little things need to be done to bring car back to factory condition.

Watching this whole series is so interesting. I mean, you can tell Chris has been improving the quality of his videos, but even 7 years ago they were still really well-made and thoughtful. I hope he’s still in touch with the Officer

What wait? Where did you get that information from? Edit: Saw a post down there about the car being CL but the ad had expired. I wonder what happened. My guess is that it wasn't allowed because it wasn't standard issue equipment or something.
I was wondering why a little guy was "building" a police car, usually they come from some assembly line where everything is added, so taking a retired police car and turning it back into a budget police car seemed weird when I first saw it.
Zero Shima town population of 38......police force = 4 deputies....one truck and 3 vehicles.....1 wagon lol.....and who cares about the damn lights....How about some info about suspension, exhaust and engine mods?? To hell with the lights. We need to know about the nice mods....oh yea...the town's budget...they're already in debt for this month's smart phone bill. LOL
Jansel Kenneth Tolentino an armored car has a sticker mounted on the door panel. This particular CVPI doesn't have the sticker, therefore the car isn't armored.
I think the lights on the side look a little weird? I've never seen a police car with that before. They're a little susceptible to damage from somebody scraping the side of the vehicle too. A bullbar would have been a nice addition too
This is not a department issued vehicle. If you look at Sirennet's videos of builds done at star cars you'll see lighting mounted on the sides. Normally feniex cannons or Whelen vertexs. But I've seen cases with Whelen ions, or code 3 chase light heads.
It's actually very common! Vehicles that have to respond to emergencies are very susceptible to accidents while traveling through intersections and red lights. This means that it is very important to have lights facing the side in order to remain visible when doing so. You're right, many cruisers go with the push bumper mounted lights, and vehicles with exterior light bars have coverage too. On this vehicle it is rather strange to see them mounted so far in the rear, and nothing in the front.
Well done Chris, I love to modify cars and did a lot of modifications, when I saw your dedication, completely forgot about myself, to be honest ever since I have learned much from you, keep that spaghetti in order my friend, love your work

Should add a small LED light or something for the center console so if he ever needs to search through it for paper work or something he has a nice little light to help him out. because being in uniform you have very little mobility let alone wiggle room for twisting and turning
or could just velcro strip something to the top of the console's cover and when he opens it could just "tap" it and the led light will come on and stay on until he taps it again

podagee4life Gooseneck lamp _is_ moveable, and would easily maneuver around, to even illuminate the storage bin. It would be ideal- for paperwork, etc. without an overhead glare of the Dome light. The '06 Crown Vic is the best car I ever owned. Just make sure you lock it up, police interceptors are really easy to steal... Lol. I have a 2000 now it's not nearly as fast. There's not a whole lot you can do performance wise with an '06 because they have electronic throttle bodies that you can't really upgrade. Still, I could hit 120 in mine no problem before the governor kicked in.
With everything in place, how do I finish strong? Here is my answer! (CLICK) (Clip activates) Chris: Hey guys ChrisFix here! Dude you're a friendly HowToBasic!
Dude I got a pair of those firefighter lights that he send you and dude those are legit. I got the same ones but their still intact with the side mirrors. Love how he brought the spot light back to life. Those things brand new are like 170
I'm not talking about the car, I'm talking about the heads on the engine. All of the 2 valve Ford modular series of engines got PI heads with different intake manifolds. The later 5.4 and even the 6.8 V10 say PI on the heads and every Crown Vic after 1999 says PI regardless of whether it's a Police Interceptor.
AwesomeDesertTortoises that would be a horrible idea because the stock engine will defiantly give out when the nitrous oxide runs through the engine...
Hey Chris, I know this video is 6 years old, but wanted to say that I bought a 2011 Chevy Impala PPV and made it into a police car! It didn't come with a spotlight or lights, it was just a PPV model, so I did it myself, and watched this series to help me. Thank you!
nice job on the setup ... 3 things i saw (in 2022) that you should of done was found a LED replacement bulb for the spot light and led bulbs for headlights /turn signals when you were doing the build up in 2016 but other then that ya did good simple & clean
This project was awesome, but I want understand, why a police officer have to buy and modify a car buy it's own? It isn't the police who have to give a ready and functional car?
This is the police officers personal car. You a correct when you say the police should provide vehicles, which they do but in most states and counties the officer is not allowed to bring home his squad car. In this case the officer wants to use this car as a personal driver and when he needs to use the emergency lights to get to s call that he was called in for or is responding to something he sees him self he wants the added protection of a personal cruiser. I am a Public Safety Officer in PA and I am in the process of doing the same thing with a 2013 Ford Police Interceptor (Ford Taurus Police Package). I hope this reply helped.
Chris, those lights on the rear bumper...the ones you decided to face sideways...GREAT IDEA! Exactly. I think it just provides more "surface area" if you will, as opposed to just blinding blinking lights.
Steady red in front and flashing amber in the back. No blinding there!
Real LEO's have side lights in their windows, no need.

I agree but wig-wags are very difficult. That involves changing the current lights already installed in the car instead of just adding them.
Another option would be to put little led flashers inside the light housings.
That sound and startup sounds like from the Ferndale in My Summer CAR

Awesome series even now; as I'm looking to wire up my own POV as a firefighter / paramedic
Fun fact - The heads on the 4.6 in that car say PI on them, but that doesn't stand for Police Interceptor, it stands for Power Improved.
Another fun fact - Battery in the car was not related to physical violence, but in regards to electricity.
While I find your comment Arresting...I just cant get over how criminal it was for the front lights to rust that way!
It literally says 'Police Interceptor' right on most CVPI badges. It doesn't stand for Power Improved.
It stands for Private Investigator
should of put nitro in the car just in case for chases
+AwesomeDesertTortoises lol
good idea
AwesomeDesertTortoises lol
AwesomeDesertTortoises that would be a horrible idea because the stock engine will defiantly give out when the nitrous oxide runs through the engine...
luis sandoval stop being a smart ass and just call it nitro or N2o
That would be ironic if Chris got pulled over by that same car
lander77477 lander77477 if it happened I’m sure he could get by with anything. 😂
Hey Chris, I know this video is 6 years old, but wanted to say that I bought a 2011 Chevy Impala PPV and made it into a police car! It didn't come with a spotlight or lights, it was just a PPV model, so I did it myself, and watched this series to help me. Thank you!
the next project :
let's build a batmobile 😂
What about bulletproofing the door?
what if it hits the other door
This is for helping out in traffic accidents not intervening in gang shootouts.
Watch all his videos. He said he was going to do that...
+***Classified*** he said this is his final episode.
We shall see in the future. It is tough when it is not my car.
Nice work :)
Thanks Daniel!
nice job on the setup ... 3 things i saw (in 2022) that you should of done was found a LED replacement bulb for the spot light and led bulbs for headlights /turn signals when you were doing the build up in 2016 but other then that ya did good simple & clean
please make ambulance project
I don't agree a regular person wouldn't need this he is just wasting his time
lol wtf?
So you agree that a regular person would need this and he is just wasting his tim? Engrish paweeze.
Top Gear did it
THIS THE USA TOP GEAR IS NOT!
YOU ROCK
Thanks!
i want to change the headlights on my dads 2014 Ford F150 and i hope the same process goes as when you changed the officers headlights.
It should be similar!
+ChrisFix thanks
I second this motion. +ChrisFix rocks!
This project was awesome, but I want understand, why a police officer have to buy and modify a car buy it's own? It isn't the police who have to give a ready and functional car?
This police officer uses this car to go to his work and he lives far from his police station, that is the reason why this car was made :)
+justHacBookGames ok, I understand
+A380FIN I just ask because in my country you can do that and use as a daily driver or in public road.
Yes, you satisfaied my curiosity.
I know that i dont really understand in cars but i really love watching his videos!
