I've been a Queen fan since 1974 (yes I'm THAT old!) I never got to see Queen with Freddie live but I did get to see Queen with Adam live, and it was electric! Adam hits all the notes and when they show the video of Freddie it's so emotional. Adam isn't trying to be Freddie or take his place, he's just keeping his memory alive and helping to bring Queen's music to each new generation. Fantastic! ❤
The song is from the film Highlander. It comes in the moment of the story when his first love dies and the Highlander is alone. Over time the song has gained in emotional weight and Adam’s performance gives it such a layer of genuine feeling.
Adam brings his own flair to Queens songs, paying homage to Freddy but making them his own as well. This is a stunning version of this song... and seriously when Brian May and the others deem you worthy to step into those shoes you have to be something pretty dang special.
Finally checked that one off my bucket list last fall in Nashville where we saw Queen with Adam. The energy in the room is unbelievable! Just amazing! Adam is phenomenal ❤

It’s hard to hold the stage with them, much less eclipse them in some ways, but Adam does. I paid 3x for another reactor to do this performance, and he never did, so I got fleeced out of my money, for sure. Live and learn, I guess…. I am catching up, you know, summer with family? Anywho, Adam Lambert is the real deal, I honestly cannot think of a better vocalist or a better person, to do what he does with Queen. You can tell they have a special relationship, you see it in interviews and you see it on Instagram. I think Adam has learned a whole lot from Queen and I also think that the members of Queen found something rare and special in Adam. And I honestly believe that Freddie Mercury is loving this situation because there is not a doubt in my mind that he would have loved Adam. Gabriel Henrique has insane vocal talent, yet he will end up singing at small events if he is lucky. Lambert is going to be pushed forward a bit longer though. For all the wrong reasons.
