Of Monsters and Men - Yellow Light

  • I'm looking for a place to start
But everything feels so different now.
Just grab a hold of my hand,
I will lead you through this wonderland.
    Water up to my knees
But sharks are swimming in the sea.
    Just follow my yellow light
And ignore all those big warning signs.
    Somewhere deep in the dark
A howling beast hears us talk.
I dare you to close your eyes
And see all the colors in disguise.
    Running into the night,
The earth is shaking and I see a light.
The light is blinding my eyes
As the soft walls eat us alive.

I like to listen to this song at night when my thoughts are keeping me awake. I like how it sounds like an eerie lullaby and sort of haunts you in a familiar way, but then towards the end of the song all the voices join together in a march, and it just makes me feel a little less alone, like there are other people on the planet who are going through the same things I am.

I've been going through some very confusing matters of the heart lately, and this whole album has been speaking to me in so many ways. As I drove home tonight, I found myself feeling a little somber. The last three minutes of this song took me to a completely different place, though: I saw me, and her, and all three little ones. And I saw lots of laughter. Even if that never comes to be, it was beautiful to look at, and it made me feel a little better :)

this is not the anthem you would want... i know it sounds a bit arrogant to tell you what you want and don't want but how can you read/hear these lyrics and think that this is a good idea for a national anthem...?
i think this would be a perfect song for a human rights video or a re-make of orwells novel 1984....

I don't see the appeal of Gagaga ola la la, or baby baby baby was considered good song writing.

When I find a song I like on RUclips from a new singer, someone I've never heard of, or one of my favorite bands, I generally just think, "Wow! This is great!" and that's it, but coming here, one look at the cover photo and it doesn't give me that feeling that the music business is as big and messy as it really is. The band members just look so at peace and happy with everything as it is. Their music also makes you feel so calm, but not in a sad way... I thought it was cute.
