20-YEAR One Piece Fan Reacts to Episode 1 (Netflix Live Action) ROMANCE DAWN

I love how the showrunners were essentially like "You know what, fuck all these 'realism' obsessed remakes, let's do a live action cartoon with green hair and goofy clothes and everything!" Honestly, it wouldn't BE One Piece without that element.
FACT! This is why I was shocked when people were saying "This looks too goofy" thats half the point! Somehow they blended the elemnts perfectly from what I've seen so far too 😁
@@ChocolateKieran It's like the difference between the first 1990s TMNT movie and the Michael Bay ones. The latter seemed almost EMBARRASSED to be based on a cartoon, so they tried to make it as gritty and "grown up" and "realistic" as possible; the former is timeless precisely because it was like "Fuck yeah this was a cartoon, we're gonna have so much fun with this!"
Thats a really good comparison actually, yes! @@dorkandproudofit
EXACTLYY. I especially love that even without removing any of the "goofier" aspects of the villains, and even playing to those cartoonish traits, the live action versions carry an even heavier punch. Kuro, Buggy and Arlong were actually scary and intimidating in the Netflix adaption, proving you don't need to be dark and gritty to be taken seriously on the big screen.
@@cleowithmayo9359 for me arlong was the worst of all, i think they really should have make him bigger with cgi or something in the anime/manga he was beefier af u know broad shoulders, head tiny in comparison, he feels a bit too small forme, idk know what will happens with future characters that are huge in size :| apart from that i think all good, well i was a bit conflicted at the beginning with usopp nose because there's a lot of gags with it, let's see how they adapt some of em. It's really good live action.
I’ve never watched the anime but I chose to watch the live action first. This is genuinely my favorite show right now. And it makes me want to watch the anime. Oda did an absolutely fantastic job.
This comment makes me SO happy! Seeing so many of you genuinely enjoy the live action enough to check out the rest of the series means it did a great job. I'm loving it so far too!
@@ChocolateKieran And after also watching a recap of the first one piece story arc, I realized how perfectly they cut down like 30 episodes into 8 while also keeping in the best scenes from the anime! I’ve seen a lot of people complain about these changes but you being so positive makes me so happy! It’s like watching this show with someone with the same enthusiasm as me! Made my day and I’ll be sure to watch the second episode with you :)
@@bransay3594 tbf in screentime its 8*3=24 anime episodes. But yeah the fact that it is so consistent with the anime storyline makes me wonder if i should spoil the LA cause i cant wait for more lol
yup same with my sister she knows one piece but she did not really watch the anime.. now she loved the live action.. she is now interested in the anime@@ChocolateKieran
you and me both, i started watching anime version one piece yesterday and loved it! not sure if i want any spoilers for the live action. i might wait till season 2 out to watch the rest of one piece anime!
Dude this show is so good I so hope they do season 2 so I can see my boy Tony Tony chopper
RIGHT?! I'm only two episodes in but I'm LOVING this! It captures the spirit of One Piece SO well!
Honestly they dont need to make him in top cgi. This show already looks ridiculuous as it should be😊 but i only hope they wont make him appear in every ep for 2 mins only for sake of his cgi looking good x-x
I want him to have equal screen time to others
Right! People have been suggesting they maybe use pupptry, but when we have movies like Detective Pikachu, I'm sure it's doable either way @@TaigaXsenpai
@@ChocolateKieranit would be nice if they made a nod to series that voice actor from anime giving him voice😊 Same way It was awesome to hear Tails voice in Sonic 2
Hearing Bink’s sake here in the 1st episode gave me such a physical jolt. Like, that’s how you know they’re so into making this show!
RIGHT?! It caught me off guard but it makes perfect sense in this scenario too! I hope the strikes pay off because these writers and show runners deserve SO much more!
There'll be another familiar tune on one of the episodes. Gave me a really big smile when it played because I wasn't expecting it. 😁
They put it in because the music is mostly new. They wanted to let the fans know they would be using the classic stuff, but only in important moments. Like, they held back on using We Are until the original four were all on the Merry.
It also just lines up as a reference to when Luffy told Brook he knew the song because Shanks and them would play it. Like we actually get to see it play out here! @@windwalker5765
Fun Fact: in the part where luffy was asking "where is my face?" for the wanted posters, they actually added a poster for Cavendish
Yup! I pointed that out in my reaction to the trailer 😁 VERY cool!
My daughter told us to watch it, and we love it. She's been watching the original, and we're going to start the long haul soon - 1060 episodes, I believe. 👍
We all have Eiichiro Oda to thank for the faithful adaptations of the source material.
Oda was smart enough to retain creative control when he signed the rights over to Netflix, and reportedly got them to rewrite or reshoot certain scenes when he decided he wasn't happy with them.
I’m loving this series so much. The next episode I got serious Joker vibes from Buggy’s actor. This episode was just a taste.
I SAID THE SAME THING! Literally editing my reaction now 😂
I legit thought it was Joaquin Phoenix for a second when I was watching
I've never watched One Piece before. I love anime, I love pirates, but the sheer amount of catching up I'd need to do has always put me off. So this version of One Piece was my introduction. I loved it so much, I am now watching the anime. There is something about Luffy that makes me smile, both the live action version and the anime character have this quality. There's just a certain sense of joy and adventure that makes watching One Piece so fun, and I'm now actually glad I have so much catching up to so, because it means I have loads more One Piece to watch while they work on season 2 of the live action series.
YES! I'm so happy for you 😁 Its very common that before watching or early on "One Piece is too much to take on" but when you're in it "there isn't enough One Piece" becomes the thought hahaha, glad you decided to continue on with the journey!
i wish i could forget it all and read the manga for the first time again
I feel that, thats why I'm not rereading the series until its done! @@ManelRuivo
same here, pretty much exactly
just finished the series and was now looking for fan reactions to share the hype with someone, great reaction, great first season, hyped for a second season.
I am watching the series in german and there the nostalgia hits even harder, because the casted the voice actors from the anime for the live action series, its so insane to hear all the familiar voices and sometimes even exact voice lines.
thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the series! I can’t wait to finish it in full 😤 also that’s really dope that some of the lines are just the same in your native language!
really the details are awesome. like the guys nami steal the boat are literally the same guys in the manga /anime. the hair and the clothes are on point even in background characters
As a fellow who has also followed this amazing story for over 20 years. This live action also brought me great joy and happiness, laughter and tears. Thank you for letting me watch this masterpiece with you. And thank you, Sensei-Oda for One Piece.
I did not expect for Zoro to be the one to cut Helmeppo's hair but I love that change and your reaction to it lol
Delighted by how insightful, fair and enjoyable this review was! I'm so glad the reception to this was so positive, especially considering how the live action was such an immense labour of love by so many unique creatives and fans of OP. Subscribed!
I appreciate that, thank you! It really made me happy to see how much love was put into this too ☺️
5:56 - Beautifully done! NO ONE understands this scene for what it is and it's a great explanation for why Zoro knows who Baroque Works are later in the anime, and I'm sure later in this series.
Personally, I love how this live adaptation seems to look at the old, botched 4kids version and gives it the middle finger. Having the One Piece goofiness mixed in with a healthy sprinkling of real danger and injury is an excellent choice.
For those wondering why Morgan was so strong in this version of One Piece, it's important to remember that canonically Jango can make people stronger through hypnosis and we don't really know how long that lasts. It appears that if the user believes it is true, then it keeps going, with exceptions such sleep interruption. So if Morgan believes he defeated Kuro, who the Navy knew was very strong for the East Blue, and who Morgan saw massacre his crewmates, then it stands to reason that Morgan would also have leveled up to match his story.
Ah thats a REALLY good point on Morgan's end actually! Having finished Syrup village it was interesting that Django didn't appear in the arc, but he was referenced in the bounty posters at least! Looking forward to seeing how episode 7 & 8 play out so I can get my full thoughts on the series out!
I love how you can see him just having a good time, laughing, enjoying the show and the details. This was a good season. It was like finding an oasis in a desert.
This is not only one of the best live action anime adaptations I have ever seen (along with the Japanese live action Deathnote films imo), but this is easily one of my favorite shows ever l now.
I never read the manga or watched the anime but I absolutely loved the show. Thanks for sharing what you’ve known about the property and I’m glad long time fans are pleased with the adaptation. Makes me like it even more
I appreciate that a lot, thank you ☺️
I am enjoying your reviews. I knew nothing about One Piece going into it. Netflix recommended it to me so I decided to give it a look and really loved the show. It's nice seeing someone who knows the source material review it and compare it to the original.
Thank you, I'm glad you're nejoying these! 😁 Also I'm REALLY happy that you found a way to enjoy One Piece, its an incredible series and I'm happy to have so many new fans join us!
i didn't know anything about one piece, but my dad is a huge fan. as a kid, he'd invite me to watch some episodes and movies with him on tv. i didn't understand a lot but i thought they were fun
years later, i still haven't watched one piece since i can get busy and there's too much episodes for me. but my dad asked if i wanted to watch the live action with him. i was hesitant but i went with it anyways. had a blast and i started to get into one piece because of it. ily sanji and thanks dad for being a dedicated fan
Best live action adaptation? HECK YES!
So far, honestly HELL YEAH!
Without a doubt I really hope it’s the new way they’ll make live adaptations so we don’t get another Dragonball Evolution
@@Kanoog Dragon Ball Evolution scarred me until this live action saved me
idk I like Kenshin &Full Metal Alchemist LA, AOT LA is pretty scary too
fun fact, mr. 7 as he's portrayed here in live action was actually designed by oda himself. he created a sketch of 7 for the production team to use as a reference, and they translated the drawing to real life with near perfect accuracy
I am loving all the changes to Zoro’s introduction, it’s a lot more show not tell with him than in the manga/anime.
In the manga/anime, we are told he’s this strong well known figure but then he spends 90% of East Blue injured, probably so it’s easier to keep that whilst boosting Luffy.
Here, we establish that he’s famous because Alvida asked after him (in her arrogance), we have two fight scenes where the effortlessly beats his opponents, one where he is even playing with them, then making it absolutely obvious that the only reason he got strung up was because he let them. The crew new they only had a limited amount of time to show this (considering he has the shortest backstory so far and the shortest introduction) and they didn’t waste it. Also slightly understand the fact we only so 3 sword style a little. It does look a bit silly (even for one piece but Zoro is the serious one) and using it sparingly makes it even more epic when it is used.
It’s also part of the reason why I think LA Zoro’s personality is more like post time skip Manga Zoro’s then his original. They only have a relatively short amount of time with these characters (at the time they were not sure of renewal), the main 5 all have strong personalities and bar Nami (at first) are all goofy so serious Zoro helps him stand out and contrasts more to Luffy (which considering they are actually quite similar characters in a lot of small ways makes it better to me). He is still funny and have some great quips, but considering the short time frame and if it did get renewed (which it ha yay) it’s going to take ages to get season 2 done so non manga fans will probably understand and believe the serious character loosing up better than the other way around
T he only thing I’m sad about the changes is that Luffy is no longer actually looking for Zoro but I am content with him going kind heart + good fighter = my crew mate
As a 10 year One Piece fan, this was a very joyful reaction to watch.
LETS GO! My nakama 💪🏾 Thank you
this tv show is just amazing being a 20 year one piece fan myself I was so impressed
LETS GO! Its honestly done so well so far, I've watched every episode but the last two so I'm excited for that!
this live action got me in to one piece I've watched up to 1087 ep's I can't wait for season 2 of the live action.
Awww, I love that you are happy with it and get to see your characters from your childhood on screen
This live action was like the first thing I had ever seen about One Piece (I have obvi heard abt it before but never watched it), I saw it on my Netflix recommended and I saw a bunch of people on tiktok saying that the live action looked goofy so I wanted to watch it but turns out it is actually so cool and I think im in love w Zoro now, I think its like my fav show at the moment bc of how cool it was (im gonna watch it a second time). I watched all of the 8 episodes in like 2 days bc i loved it so much and now its making me want to want the anime lmaooo
14:30 He just thinks he captured him.
Kuro easily massacred all of Morgan's crewmates, leaving Morgan himself just barely alive with a broken jaw and a maimed arm. The defiant Morgan refused to beg for his life, but was spared anyway, as Kuro had long schemed to retire from piracy undisturbed; Morgan, deemed an ideal pawn for this scheme, was hypnotized by Jango into believing that he had captured Kuro, and sent off with a lookalike pirate (hypnotized into believing that he was Kuro). Though, Morgan was just as a recruit at the time, IIRC.
Then again, the live action series could have changed it a bit. Haven't watched the other episodes, yet.
AHHH Django is the missing key! That makes perfect sense, its been almost 20 years for me since I haven't re-read the series, so thank you! I'm looking forward to seeing how it pans out in the live action 😁
I’ve never read this story and I’ve been watching reviewers who haven’t either going in blind but it’s awesome watching a first impressions from somebody who is familiar with the source material! I’m definitely going to Sub and watch more, this was great 👍 👍.
Ah I appreciate this a lot, thank you! Welcome aboard 😁
@@ChocolateKieran Thanks Captain 🏴☠ I'm glad to be here haha.
honestly, I started watching the anime after starting the live action and I’m already past the “entering the grand line” arc, and it’s soo goood. Also, it was very helpful that Netflix dropped all episodes of one piece
One of the reaction i truly enjoy because its from the genuine fan too and not from the just someone who just riding the hype.
I appreciate that, thank you 🙏🏾
After I heard Bink's Sake when watching the first episode, I heard brook say "LABOOON!!!" In my head🤣
damn, that’s gonna happen to me when I rewatch now 😂
Ive been watching many reactions to thr live action and you were the only one that spotted Mihawk and Shanks in the crowd
I personally think Buggy and especially Kuro were handled better in live action.
I love this show I really hope it gets a second season. I think Chopper could be done good if they went the detective Pikachu movie route to where he looks a little realistic but still has a cute cartoon character design to it if that makes sense
In Germany they took the same voice actors from the Anime for this live action series, which makes it so easy to accept the actors for the roles :)
Also, Luffy is called Ruffy in Germany, but Im not sure why 😂
6:40 "Did he just cut bro in half!" My stomach is killing me I laughed so hard at this part of the reaction. You weren't paying attention, so it was a delayed reaction, which made it just a tiny bit unexpected. Then the comment and how you delivered it, was perfect. Oh man. That was good.
My brain just could not compute it because the level of gore this early was shocking for One Piece, thought I was watching Mortal Kombat 😂
Never watched the anime nor have read the manga mainly because the amount of episodes / chapters in either medium scares me lol but after watching the LA, i am reaaaaaally tempted to give both the mange and anime a try. Hopefully, i can catch up quick enough lol
I' glad you enjoyed it enough to delve into the source material! Definitely give the manga a shot 😁
@ChocolateKieran thanks! I'll definitely check it out. Oh and my interest to check the manga and anime also grew after watching just this first ep of your reaction because of all the little connections you made from, i guess, more advanced part of the story that were subtly referenced here. So thanks for that 😁 really enjoyed this reaction and I will surely be checking out your reactions to the next episodes since it was really fun to watch 😁
You earned my subscribe bro. Really enjoy your energy and good to watch this show from the perspective of a One-piece anime fan. I had chills for 70% of this series, literally.
I appreciate that, thank you! 😁 man I’m so excited to watch the rest! if I wasn’t reacting/editing I’d have binged the whole thing already 😭
The chocolaate is in the onigiri (rice balls) as an Easter egg because Zoro once said he doesn't like chocolate for being too sweet. Him eating his favourite food tainted to his least favourite food - after it was crushed underfoot Zoro's willingness to sacrifice for anyone on his sidde and under his protection - right after the brutality of is bounty collection of 7. I also don't eat chocolate so it stood out to me. Also, it for pay attention to zoro's stance when her holds two swords tip-to tip over his head, while one is in his mouth in such a way that the swords all create a triangle, with his black-bandana clad head dipped down ... as his Onigiri stance, it looks like the triangular onigiri rice blls with the strip of seaaweed that helps to pick hem up withut the rice sticking to you. The entire stance through the entire series is a homage to that first act of kindness he got from that girl an her rice balls that made the world slightly more complex than his own goal - which carries through all the way down to hat "Nothing happened" scene ... where he was confirmed to have actually been killed by Kuma but his soul literally got lost nd went back to his body. Only the King of Hell cheats death like that.
you know whats a great detail in this live action is the accurate "ANIME SLIDE"
is when you got hit and then to stop the momentum they always axe the ground and slide hahahaha
love your reactions! I find myself saying “wait that’s not what happened, but I’m not complaining, cos Netflix Live actions so good and understandable even to non-fans.
I can’t move on from OPLA watched it 4 times already within a week and now I’m just watching reaction videos 😂 🏴☠️ 💙
I feel exactly the same! Like its making me curious how they're tying things all in and how exactly we're approaching things! I'm a big fan so far 😁
You know I really went and rewatched the anime after watching the live action and they have really changed the storyline. Like in the anime we don't meet Garp until water seven and in the live action they meet in Conomi island Now I am on water seven and it is still fun rewatching it.
the part where Luffy stabs himself on shanks ship actually happened in the manga, the anime did change a bunch of things
I know, I'm a manga reader, I just said it hit different to see it happen with a real little boy compared to a black and white drawing
Didn't watch all and regularly One Piece, but i think they all did a great job giving the same "vibes" the Anime/Manga had. All the actors are really on point with their character.
Hope there are many more episodes to come! Great show!
(Edit: Also i'm watching the german version and all dubbing-actors from the Anime are on the show, which is a huge bonus)
You saw young Mihawk in the crowd, but did you see his ship after the execution and they pan out over the sea? Actually, if I remember correctly, when the episode starts and they move the camera from the sea toward the town, you also see Mihawk's ship between all the other ships. somewhere on the left of the screen.
I literally can't wait for the 2nd season I never watched the Anime/Manga but this is amazing
this what happens if the legendary creator is involved w the whole project and the casting
FACTS! Glad Oda supervised this, honestly I had faith after learnign how big of a fan the showrunners seemed to be, but I'm SO happy with this series so far! After episode 7 and 8 I'll fully decide how I feel
OMG!!! This is the best Onepiece reaction, you are frankly speaking and show us you have really fun with this live action series
Thank you!!! I'm glad you had fun with it as much as I had fun recording this 😁
As a new fan of One Piece (I watched the live action first and now the anime) I enjoyed your reaction and the knowledge you have 😊
the 3rd wall breaking for the bounty posters is actuallya really nice add on
Right? I love it!
This was actually hella fire Im loving it so far. I thought it was going to be a movie tho
A lot fo people thought it'd be a movie, but this series has been FIRE so far off the first two episodes I've seen so far. You're right
"is it better than the anime?" No. But that doesn't mean it's bad. I enjoy this review, and you bringing up like the differences between the manga and anime and this. I've been hoping to find someone who's very well versed in the anime/manga like you clearly are to watch the review, just because I like it when people point out the differences and show off their knowledge of stuff. (Like watching a meteorologist watch 2021 or Day After Tomorrow) And you aren't crapping on the live action. Good review.
Fellow 29 year enjoyer here. Looks dope
Hope you enjoy! 😁
Loveeeee this reaction!!!! Moreeeee and thank you
The playlist is right there if you wanna catch up 😁 episode 7 reaction is going up today too
New fan, always meant to watch one piece but never got around to it, live action is the first one I'd actually recommend to people.....well done.
I've never watched the anime bcs it had too much episodes for me to commit to, but i tried the live action and loved it so much??? i end up watching the anime now bcs i can't wait for s2 of the live action. my bf is a total one piece fan and kinda annoyed i prefer the LA, so it's refreshing to see other fans of the original stuff liking the LA as well lol, thanks!
Love watching reactors who know their shit
thank you 👊🏾

I apprec iate that a lot, thank you! These took me a lot of time to edit 😁
"I've been a One Piece fan since watching the 4kids dub around 20 years ago." Me too!
LETS GO!!!! Gang gang 🏴☠️
i ALSO first started watching one piece with the 4kids dub (on cartoon network in the US)! I tried recently to marathon the whole anime (minus filler arcs) and got up to the end of Thriller Bark before burning out, but I still love One Piece so much. I was so skeptical of the live action, but my sister actually got me to watch the first episode, and as much as i wanted to be right and hate it, i was smiling the whoooooole damn time. the details, the fact that it's starting the story from the beginning, but with the collective knowledge of the whole series, does so much good for the pacing and storytelling because now all the characters seem much more fleshed-out FROM THE START, and events in the future can be properly built up and foreshadowed NOW instead of being hastily tacked on later with a "this happened behind your back" explanation!!!!
I'm a little worried about how they'll handle chopper in season 2, but since we got physical animatronic props for the snail phones, I'm hoping and praying for the same with Chopper. A good animatronic always looks better than "decent" CGI, and they're CLEARLY able to create beautiful sets, props, and prosthetic makeup.
Glad ot chat with another long time fan! 😁 So a lot of the stuff from the anime that seems to pop up randomly with no explanation, they were actually shown as mini arcs in the manga through cover story arcs, so we do see things like Garp training Koby and Helmeppo, but they just never made it to the anime! They did a good job reworking it to fit this story though!
This is the first time I'm seeing your channel but your energy is fantastic, very invested and passionate but genuine calm and welcoming at the same time (is it the the right word? English isn't my first language. but I mean that so many reactors seem to over exaggerate things while you don't, and it makes me want to keep watching your videos.) I love how you point our the differences and details without judgment. Keep it up 👍
First of all, you speak English better than me and it’s my only language, that’s awesome! 😂 and I really do appreciate that thank you! My goal is to honestly comment exactly what I’m feeling or thinking while bringing some humour when I can. I’m glad you enjoyed this! Thanks for leaving such a kind comment 😁
08:50 fun fact we could see glimpse of Cavendish WANTED poster. I kinda wanted him to have face of BTS pretty boy though😅
Yes! I pointed this out in my trailer reaction so I dind't get excited about it again here! LOL it was a really nice touch though!
@@ChocolateKieranFor me they should get better actor if he appears. As he is suppose to be so handsome that its inhuman.
I always love finding fans of the source material and watch their reactions. This was perfected.
I think you're the first person I've seen call the BW interaction before Mr.7 even said his name! I still love that the show makers took the time to add this in. It's a really amazing intro for Zoro while laying solid ground work for things later.
It happened during the flashback of syrup Village arc where Kuro doesn't want to be pirate anymore that's why he go to a marine ship and killed all the Marines in there except for the blonde man(Morgan) he stepped on his jaw and that's why he has steel jaw. Jango picked one men from their crew and hypnotized him that he is Captain Kuro and then hypnotized Morgan saying that he captured Captain Kuro. So all those bragging of Captain Morgan arent true and just bec he was hypnotized by jango
I started with the live action, which got me into the anime. I fucking adore this show, I've been watching for 2 or so weeks and I'm already at Enies Lobby, i never thought I'd be watching One Piece.
4:20 Totally agree. They made everyone more serious but that only emphasised how bat crazy Luffy is. It’s even starker than in the manga/anime
10:00 - I'd like to argue the opposite:
In the Manga he saved the girl from dogs without knowing the girl and is getting punished for it. Afterwards the girl feels responsible and gives him food
-> Zoro is doing the first act of kindness to which the gril responds.
In the live action she is offering him food first and afterwards Zoro is helping her
-> This time it's the girl who acts in kindness first and Zoro is the one who reacts.
But however one interprets the scenes, I definitly wouldn't say he comes off as FAR kinder in either version.
Romance for Adventure, Friendship & Freedom!!! Let’s go season 2 ⚓️⚓️⚓️
LETS GO!!! Fully confirmed too 😤

Netflix did a fantastic job with this
I onyl have episode 7 and 8 left and so far they knocked it out of the park! I have a few gripes but.overall ts been great!
@ChocolateKieran my partner is 73 yrs old and don't like anime but love one piece on Netflix
@@meltoncub that’s beautiful, I love that!
Living under a rock, in a cave where the entrance had collapsed, I had never heard of One Piece. I saw the live action version on Netflix and decided to try it, but without much hope of actually liking it. Before the end of the first episode I was sold. I eagerly await the second series and have started watching the animé. Yes there are differences but the live action has captured the essence. In an adaption there are always differences but it doesn't lessen the adaption. Where are Tom Bombadil, the Barrow Wights, and Glorfindel in the amazing movie adaption of Lord of the Rings. Once Piece is one of the best adaptions I have ever seen.
I’m glad you loved it! i think i said so in my reaction to the first trailer, but they did a really good job at capturing the essence and feeling of the world of One Piece. I’m excited for me too!
Oh my gosh that was so enjoyable I felt like I was there with you enjoying the series for the first time great job you know I subscribed

I think my first exposure to One Piece was reading the manga in Shonen Jump and later seeing the 4kids dub. I haven't kept up with it in like fifteen years or more but man, this show was fun.
Crocodile was in the crowd in the beginning too. In front of Shanks.
This is so much fun!! I think you are the first long time fan of OP that I've seen review. Having a great time just watching you enjoy it and all the little things that keep popping up! Cant wait to see all your vids! edit: Already bought some of the manga on kindle to start reading it!!!
The Morgan capturing Kuro thing is in fact from the manga and anime. They never explicitly mention it, but if you rewatch the Kuro flashback, Morgan is the marine they hypnotize to think he beat Kuro. So he actually didn't, but he thinks he did. Love that they got that detail right in this adaptation.
1:22 Netflix is kind of using accents like Oda used distinctive laughs. There’s not a lot of reason why they’re the way they are, but it’s fun if you go with it
I'm a new _One Piece_ fan that was introduced to the story with the live action show. Although, when I was a kid, I sometimes saw the opening of the 4Kids dub on TV. I used to think that Gol D. Roger's last words were some kind of riddle alluding to the location of the One Piece.
To be honest, I don't care that much about minor spoilers, and your comments about Roger and Garp being friends got me wondering how Garp captured Roger. When I found out about it via the _One Piece_ Wiki, I was like, "Are you frickin' kidding me?!" 😅
In the manga and anime jango Hypnotized captain morgan to believe he had captured captain Koro I do believe they change it a little bit. In this, but it's more or less the same. It's a fake Accomplishment.
you also see in there that they broke morgan's jaw before hypnotizing him into thinking he caught Kuro and taking Kuro's body double into custody.
13:25 When you say Luffy is good at connecting to, and understanding, other people...a part of me wonders if the reason both live-action and anime Luffy is such a good judge of character is because he can hear the Voice of All Things. Maybe he can 'hear' a person's true nature beyond the masks they wear and the walls they put up.
yeah I still really know how the voice of all things works, since the manga seems to be wrapping up maybe we’ll get answers super soon!
@chocolatekieran Idk if someone already said it here, but the part where axe hand Morgan says that he captured kuro is definitely explained in the manga and anime. Kuro used jango, after a battle with Morgan, to make morgan think that he had successfully fought and captured the real kuro, when in fact he “captured” a double that he was convinced and convinced others was kuro, and that’s who they executed, thus why kuro was able to hide for so long undetected, and why Morgan says what he said in that scene.
I just watched the Live Action and stumbled across your Channel :) Immediately had to watch your videos to know your opinions on the Series. Not only did I watch your reactions to it, you also explained some details possibly being missed :) Keep up the good work!
Thank you! I really appreciate that and glad you enjoyed 😁
"Lucky Roux's Black?"
Got me dead af 💀💀💀
I CANT WAIT FOR SEASON 2
I planned to do a shot for shot comparison but watching firsy episode of the anime and then first episode of this. Next thing I knew ot was 5 pm and I binged the entire thing
This got me into One Piece. I had tried several times before and always bounced off the overly long arcs before I could really get into the characters. This series gave me _why_ these characters are great, so it makes those long arcs tolerable. Well, except the Don Krieg bit. That's still way too long and ultimately pointless since the very next villain is better at showing how dangerous and pirates of the Grand Line are; while also being a better villain overall.
Dude, loved your reaction! I completely agree that they really kept the sipirt of One Piece alive. Personally, I was glad it wasn't a total 1:1 cus some things just work out different on Live Action. Also loved the fact that they made Luffy a bit psycho from a normal pov esp since even in the manga every one who meets him does treat him as a weirdo at first, we just never really clued in because of the medium and the style.
Sonya Boulosva being the Composer was such a wise choice. The woman knows what’s up. (She worked on The Witcher)
I’ve seen a lot of this guys videos but they are gaming ones where he is a fan of another game reacting to a game I’m a fan of but it’s cool to see us see eye to eye on something but not really since he’s been watching one piece for 20 years and I’ve only been watching is for 4 😅
LETS GO! Nice to have something in common 😁
you read the manga 20 years ago and remember more of the first scene than me who watched the first episode 2 years ago lol
i found the first few minutes a bit unfortunate, like having everyone run out to find the one piece instead of the cheer they did in the original, i have liked the live action so far but that moment really felt so important because it was like we were going from a moment of shock and pain to pure joy, excitement like a celebration of him and the fact that they can now go on their own adventures like he did, at least that's how I see it. still like the live action so far though, they've definitely done a good job on it and care about it being good so I can give them a pass
