“I’m feeling so pirate-y” So someone not familiar with Luffy that would seem cringe and out of character but that is something he would say. He just says how he feels.
YES I agree! I’m kinda worried about the new watchers who will think it’s cringe, especially non geeks, cause we people who grew up with One Piece humour, Marvel humour, Nickelodeon humour just know and laugh.
The problem lies is this live action cringe is closer to us. It's cringey with the language we know. The japanese Luffy is cringey as well, but in Japanese. It's very hard to translate that part as we can't just translate what Luffy said in anime, it'll be worse than cringey I think
The cadence and pitch in his voice is just brilliant. I hope he’s greatly successful with this series but I’d love to see him get some voice acting roles
I don't know if any actor could do live-action Luffy like Iñaki does. He is filled with such joy, empathy, and passion. Fantastic casting choice and his accent adds a lil something special.
Brilliant casting. I’ve actually started One Piece about 2 weeks ago (currently on episode 300 and counting). Can’t wait to sit back and and enjoy this series with the rest of the fandom. This looks like a labor of love. Happy to be apart of it. Happy to be a new fan as well.

Inaki's message of doing what you like and really enjoying it at the end gave off strong Luffy energy. He is Luffy personified this show can't come quicker
As someone who has watched a lot of One piece, I can proudly say that he has made for an amazing Luffy! He imitates him so well! Heck even my brother who dislikes any anime, has watched all the live actions eps with me and now is a fan. Well done for casting him!
he's so freaking cute 😭😭❤ even if I end up not liking the live action, I literally CANNOT dislike this guy or the rest of the crew. He's literally the perfect Luffy, and the fact that he’s Mexican is a plus 🤭🇲🇽
He's so charismatic and really understood Luffy. Actors usually avoid typecasting but he would also really fit Midoriya if the MHA liveaction is still being made

I started watching thinking I was going to rip this series apart, and by the time Coby and Luffy were sitting in that dinghy talking, I was in love with this adaptation. Inaki you were born to be Luffy. We are blessed to have you as the King of Pirates.
The fact that I was going to change to another video that caught my attention but than realized my finger was hovering in mid air says a lot about him. He's impressive and has another kind of charisma like Luffy. I actually ended up watching the whole video without interruption
He did an absolutely phenomenal performance, found this video because I wanted to see his inspiration, absolutely does not disappoint. Really hope we get a second season!
Whoever styles the One Piece cast, does it so PERFECTLY bc whatever they wear clearly reflects their character!! Inaki's outfit really reminds me of Luffy!
I was smiling throughout the whole thing. I love that Iñaki watched the anime for reference but at the same time he also tried to seek out more stuff about Luffy. I love that he cares so much about the character. We really found our Monkey D. Luffy!!!! ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Inaki's charm and passion for the project really makes it easy to root for him. Shoutout to the production crew for bringing the world to life in a way that didn't make it look cheap or silly.
Inaki was born to be the king of the pirates. He has the physique, and charisma for this character my respects and admiration to my fellow Mexican compatriot.
The funny bit is him not over working himself by doing lot of research into Luffy beforehand and just simplifying it to his smile and then Oda choosing him because he made him laugh. Yeah no that is a very Luffy thing indeed
I'm not really familiar with the anime or the manga, but I'm really enjoying the new series, and a very large part of that is due to this guy. He's the most charismatic, compelling performer I've seen in years, and he's imbued this role with the perfect mix of naivity and depth. It would have been so easy to make Luffy too silly, too over the top, but he absolutely nailed it. He's going to be a huge star, and hopefully he has a long and varied career... so long as he doesn't get sucked into the Marvel/blockbuster black hole.
The fact that this guy shows this much respect for the source material and everyone involved makes me wanna root for his success and I hope to see more of him going forward
He’s wonderful, just by listening him you can notice he’s so genuine, kind and such a beautiful person. He embodies Luffy in every way, literally perfect for the role 💖
The way he respect mayumi tanaka as voice actor, trying not to imitate what she does and trying to build his own character of luffy..that's admirable~ ✨
While watching the show I thought to myself, "He's got it. He's Luffy!😁" And the fact that Eiichiro Oda, the creator, loved his audition too shows it! 😁
I'm smitten. The fact that he became that character - which seems similar to his personality - without seeming lazy and forced is a testament to his acting abilities. He really does radiate such positive energy. The whole cast is fantastic. Kudos to the casting directors.
Luffy is a hard character to understand, even more acting it out. Just listening to Inaki's efforts to manifest Luffy in himself gives me goosebumps. I don't care if in the future One Piece LA will not as successful as expected, I will always respect how the actors and the crew giving their best delivering OP to reality.

"he said that I made him laugh" and what if I CRY y'allllll 😭😭
“I’m feeling so pirate-y”
So someone not familiar with Luffy that would seem cringe and out of character but that is something he would say. He just says how he feels.
That line made me laugh lol
that got a chuckle out of me
YES I agree!
It didn't really feel cringe to me.
First off: Great that you started watching the show. 👍😁
Second: How'd you get to 300 in two weeks? 😳 It's taken my cousin half a year just to get to half the series.🤣
Third; Hope you have fun watching the rest, it gets better, trust me. 👌👍
@@ocarina269lmao they watched approx 7 hours worth, or 22 eps a day
welcome aboard nakama!! can't wait to watch the live action soon, let's goooo
Yo welcome to the cruise! We'll wait you in wano! Enjoy the trip!
Nothing happened 🔥💪
Making Oda laugh is a life achievement 😯👏
It reminds me of trying to make Gordon Ramsay compliment you.
Inaki's message of doing what you like and really enjoying it at the end gave off strong Luffy energy. He is Luffy personified this show can't come quicker
That little "wherever live takes you, have fun" - Speech at the end was such rawr Luffy-Energy.
He worked hard for his character, I really hope this live action succeeds
i love how inaki respect the original voice actor and he didn't try to imitate mayumi tanaka because he respect her so much
He was my favourite casting and now, knowing he took his time, loves, and respects the source material, I love him even more.
Huge props to him on doing something people thought was impossible.
He's so charismatic and really understood Luffy. Actors usually avoid typecasting but he would also really fit Midoriya if the MHA liveaction is still being made
I’d prefer deku be a Japanese kid but I get your point lol
Yeah they’re still doing MHA lol
@@garenthal9638 too bad for both of us it will probably be the whitest actor with some made up freckles and a wig lmao
@@Chibiknux I mean I’d prefer Japanese but I’m sure there are white kids or Latin like inaki who could do it well
I really hope they dont
This was a great interview. best one in my opinion about this show. This was in depth and it really let him show who he is. I hope more are coming with the other actors!
I’m Japanese and the first moment when I knew that he’s gonna play Lufy was like just “Oh, it was him, who got the role of Lufy”, but I identifying him with Lufy more and more day by day. I can’t wait watching your adaptation!
I started watching thinking I was going to rip this series apart, and by the time Coby and Luffy were sitting in that dinghy talking, I was in love with this adaptation. Inaki you were born to be Luffy. We are blessed to have you as the King of Pirates.
He nailed Luffy in a way that I actually didn't think was possible
"Why me? Why did you like me?"
"Becouse you made me laugh"
We all know that Oda saw the Luffy he knows in Iñaki. Iñaki deserves this role.
Oda made the greatest decision casting Iñaki
The fact that I was going to change to another video that caught my attention but than realized my finger was hovering in mid air says a lot about him. He's impressive and has another kind of charisma like Luffy. I actually ended up watching the whole video without interruption
He's absolutely perfect for the character. His authenticity and attitude as a person make One Piece more magical.
Luffy!!!! ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
It's heart warming to see how much love and care he puts into such an iconic globally loved character.
Inaki is so likable… thank you for the many details!
REalmente que dieron con el clavo en este chico, muy carismático y si que tiene la esencia de Luffy. Esperooo tanto ya ver la serie.
Me sentía excéptico pero este chico me da esperanza.
Amo a iñaki
The funny bit is him not over working himself by doing lot of research into Luffy beforehand and just simplifying it to his smile and then Oda choosing him because he made him laugh. Yeah no that is a very Luffy thing indeed
He is very cute. And his deeper spanish voice is also amazing.
His little grin after his accidental "one piece of advice" pun
too precious
He is such a charming and fun person! And he is so genuine too, he embodies Luffy: be free, have fun. Best of luck Iñaki!!
This is Monkey D Luffy for me. This is it.
He’s so genuine, it’s honestly so refreshing
He captured the character so well....I loved every episode!
He carries such a sweet energy, he’s the best
The fact that this guy shows this much respect for the source material and everyone involved makes me wanna root for his success and I hope to see more of him going forward
hoping this show doesn't flop so that we can get much more seasons. we need to see a marineford live action in our lifetime
I swear if this series makes it to Water 7 & Enies Lobby, I would be so happy.
@@Phanthief95fr
LA Law 😳
Agree. Marineford would be so lit! 🔥🔥🔥
@@SparkyWeeBro For me, I’m hoping it gets a second season so we get LA Robin.
honestly Iñaki Godoy doesnt deserve all the hate he genuinely put so much effort into this and he nailed it too, i respect that
Nobody hates him my dude.
Literaly, this guy is one of best actors of this new generation.@@ilangilang7185
@@ilangilang7185 literally
I hate him
If anything, he deserves praise for trying not to mindlessly copy animated Luffy but do his own best version of Luffy he can be
He’s wonderful, just by listening him you can notice he’s so genuine, kind and such a beautiful person. He embodies Luffy in every way, literally perfect for the role 💖
They really knocked it out of the park with this casting. Wishing nothing but success for this show. See you guys August 31st!
STOP JUDGING PEOPLE ON HOW THEY LOOK INSTEAD OF THEIR PERFORMANCE!
like seriously what is wrong with you people.
@@-tom-8720what is wrong with you?
@@-tom-8720 Bro what?
@@-tom-8720who hurt you😭😭😭😭
@@-tom-8720you must've been fun at parties
The way he respect mayumi tanaka as voice actor, trying not to imitate what she does and trying to build his own character of luffy..that's admirable~ ✨
As soon as he said the biggest thing that stood out to him about luffy was his smile, I was sold
While watching the show I thought to myself, "He's got it. He's Luffy!😁" And the fact that Eiichiro Oda, the creator, loved his audition too shows it! 😁
I'm actually obsessed with this angel human
We need a season 2 already!
Season one hasnt even come out yet 🤣
I 2nd that. 😆
We haven’t seen S1
Can’t wait for Arabasta
Nah don't get too excited first let the 1st season come out then we will see
I hope Vogue did this for all 5 of them...this is a fun watch
Yes. I need to see Emily and Jacob
They seriously lucked out in finding this guy!! He is the perfect actor for the role!!
