Kirito is still overwhelmed by guilt when he sees Klein, from "abandoning" him on that first day of the game. That's why he has trouble being around him. It's not that he is intentionally cold to him. This episode and the next were the two I have most wanted to see your reaction to, so hurray for that. Glad you're enjoying it.
Yeah, he's usually solo, so when the game started, he was hiding his fear pretty well, but in the long run, I bet he was solo during the Beta tests too, which means asking Klein to come with him was a big move, and he said no. It was probably a big shock and like a knife in the heart for him. He made a friend and for once didn't want to go out there alone. Then again after not going alone and joining a Guild, all his teammates died, and he blames himself for not telling them his level. I get it.

One of the things that I think a lot people overlook in this episode is that Asuna is actually the selfless heroine that risks her life by running in there first to help (and arguably only holds back initially because of Kirito being there), and in doing so drags Kirito in due to concern for her - I think this comes across even more in the short novels. Otherwise he without her he probably would have otherwise deemed it too much of a risk and the worst would have happened, and he would never have come out of his shell and become a "hero"; it really highlights their complementary nature.

Fun fact: In the novel, during the few days after Kirito killed the boss before the Heathcliff duel, it was written that Kirito and Asuna hid and often cuddled on the second floor of Agil's shop because Kirito's place was always surrounded by news reporters and swordsmen wanting to learn more about the Dual Swords skill and if the two of them cuddling isn't the cutest thing then I don't know what is.
in which novel was that? is it one of the 16. chapters?

It's not that Kirito doesn't like Klein. In fact, he cares about him greatly. It's just that he stills carries an enormous guilt because he felt like he abandoned him in the beginning.

He actually cares for Klein a lot. The guilt of bailing on him on the first episode just weighs on him and he feels guilty.

There's a reason this is considered to be one of the best, if not the best, episode of SAO, or at least of the first season. Everything just works really well here, plus we get one of the best fight sequences of the season.
Regarding Kirito and Klein, Kirito still feels really guilty for ditching Klein earlier on, so he tries to keep him at arms length, because he doesn't think that he deserves Klein's admiration or friendship after abandoning him.
You should definitely react to my hero academia next you might really enjoy it it’s one of the best anime at the current moment

Screw the haters, just enjoy what you enjoy. For some reason SAO is one of those animes that seems to have it's own dedicated hater base that refuses to accept that people can enjoy something they don't, and will go out of their way to try and ruin people's enjoyment of the series. Just do you.

The reason that kirito doesnt want to join a party or guild is because he doesnt want to lose anyone else he considers a friend. So he alienates everyone(except asuna) else.

You NEED to watch the abriged version after you've finished sword art online. Its funny and would be a nice finish for this serie
That Duel the commander offered is dumb, she is free to make her own choices, it's not up to this guy whether or not she's still there, she's leaving the guild and he has no say in it. Neither does Kirito, he isn't taking her away, she's leaving. It's just so dumb, If I were him, I would have literally just said, "No, I'm not fighting you for her, she's going to come if she wants, and if she doesn't, she'll stay."

Was I the only one who was surprised when I saw him using two swords? Because I remember the first time I saw it I was like WHAAAAT? HOW? And people don't seem to notice ho big of a deal it is to be able to wield two swords or in this case, two heavy class swords.
In one of the games based off the anime, that’s the first boss, like once you begin the game, it throws you into the boss fight

I been rewatching your SAO reaction while rereading the Manga, they didn't really convey it well in the Anime how guilt ridden and regretful Kirito was about bailing on Klein at the beginning. Kirito really felt like he betrayed Klein and didn't deserve his friendship.

That was a trapped chest room, not a Boss Room. This(floor *74* ) is the first time a _Boss Room_ has been trapped.
This episode marks the first time Kirito has _actually_ been overpowered compared to other Front Liners, and that's because Dual Wield wasn't ever intended to be balanced. Kayaba actually intended for the player who received the Dual Wield skill to become a rallying point for the other players and the one to finally fight the 100th floor boss in an appropriately epic 1v1 to either save or doom the rest of the players.

Yeah, I can't hold back my irritation with her assumptions about Kirito's treatment of Klein.
Does she not know that Kirito is being cold and distant due to the fact he's affected by guilt? With the whole leaving Klein behind to get a head start in the game and Sachi's (as well as thee Moonlit Black Cats) death?
He cares for Klein and some others, but it also doesn't help that Kirito is a introvert for most of his life before SAO.
Kirito has a lot of character growth moments, so he should just grow already and forgive himself because Klein already has forgiven him long, long ago.

Kirito doesn't not like Klein he just feels guilty about not helping him and his friends on day 1 of the game instead he was more concerned about himself and staying alive which is understandable but Kiritp can't help but feel guilty.
