- The #3 Florida State Seminoles faced the #1 Alabama Crimson Tide at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA in the season opener for both teams. This game was promoted as the "Greatest Opener of All-Time," because it was the first time in college football history that such highly ranked teams had met in week one.
Wow. It's only 2019, but this already feels like a million years ago. Jimbo leaving FSU, FSU stinking it up for the remainder of 2017 and having a historically bad year in 2018 makes it hard to remember how high the expectations were for them less than two calendar years ago.
It's been a quick collapse for them, for sure. Their division is so weak though that it shouldn't be hard for them to recover equally fast.
christosvoskresye I know
And of course this years loss to the Jacksonville state university gamecocks… fear the beak 👌🐔
They’re doing pretty well now. At least this past year. I mean the ACC is no juggernaut, especially now with Clemson falling out of elite status. If Cristobal and Norvell can coach ‘em up then Florida St. and Miami should do well. This game was awesome though, opening weekend #1 vs. #3. We beat #1, #2, and #3 this year. Roll Tide!
@@louieo.blevinsmusic4197 Wow. It's only 2023, but my comment already feels like a million years ago.
Before the game, FSU is one of the best teams in the country. They haven't been relevant since.
how bout now👀
@@Kayzofrm43Good luck in the Orange Bowl.
Still not relevant considering they didn’t make playoff soooooo
@@jorgesantana9244they were robbed. We all know this. Including you.
@@yourdaddy6030alright so after y’all get blown tf out by Georgia then what? 😂
Crazy that ‘17 was such a great recruiting class that 5 freshman were playing on the offense in the 1st game against the #3 team. Also the Florida St. freshman RB Cam Akers was committed to Bama at one point as well. Glad we got Najee instead.
We aren’t gonna talk about how Alabama’s future Center is on the wrong team here?
Crazy how he sucked at fsu but bama made him a superstar lol if cam Akers went to bama he probably have a Reggie bush career lol
Most anticipated Week 1 matchup ever
man, we really were playing rugby with jalen hurts. glad the defense was amazing that year 😂
I love Jalen, but this game would have been a massacre with Tua. 42-7 Bama
ROLL TIDE GO GO GO ALABAMA GREAT VID
Boy this aged well in 2023🤣🤣🤣
FSU have always been bitches😂😂
Look at their players trash talking guys like jalen and Ridley lol
that bama offense was horrendous
Nah , Jalen Hurts was horrendous
Huh? Literally every WR is in the NFL still. Jalen couldn’t throw/read defenses yet. It was elite when Tua came in and pretty dang good when Jalen started. Put up 24 or more points on 3 teams ranked in the top3. Before we beat ‘em they were #1 Clemson, #2 UGA, and #3 Florida St.
@@louieo.blevinsmusic4197 bro just look up the numbers, they were ass
@@louieo.blevinsmusic4197 hurts had a 96 pass yrds this game
@@louieo.blevinsmusic4197 defense carried the whole 2017 year
The day the Florida State program died. (At least for now.)
Naw…it’s still dead 😂
About the high school helmets display - didn't they have that in the old Georgia Dome? It's really nothing new I think.
mathompson53187 you're exactly right. Herbstreit and Fowler must have been confused
ROLL TIDE ROLL
ROLL TIDE!!!! 🌊🌊🌊🏈🏈🐘🐘🐘🔥🐘 We beat the brakes off Florida State!!!!!!
Forgot all about this game, FSU came to play. Bama’s Defense really played well, but so did FSU. Special teams
Defense won this game for Alabama.
hey I have a question for you, I have always wanted to make a highlight video for Alabama but i'm not sure where to begin. where can you download videos of the games?
Alexander Tharpe For Saban era games, go to Roll Tide Graham's RUclips channel. For older games, try Stephen Barnett's channel. You can also buy DVD copies of games you can't find at bear315win.com
I use a software program called 4K Video Downloader. You just copy the link and hit download.
lmao
Entering this game i was excited i like both of these teams (dads side fsu moms side alabama) i hope we get these two playing eachother before 2025 which I'll be at that game in doak i hated and liked this game at the same time due to how disappointing it was
I love florida stste
Even though the final score didn’t show it, FSU really held their own against Bama. A few costly mistakes by the noles was the difference in this one, and we all know you can’t have those when playing Alabama.
Nah Jalen Hurts was the difference maker ...if he’s not the quarterback it’s a easy blowout
@@thetruthandnothingbutthetr6484 I agree if Tua is in this game it possibly would be a blowout but we did score off FSU turnovers in their own and of the field tho so the game was closer than the scoreboard said. Offense was bad especially the passing game but a couple timely turnovers and solid defense saved us Roll Damn Tide 🐘🐘🐘
roll tide roll
at least bamas kicker graduated...a true freshman would be a better fit
Dang....Alabama offense was sucking in this game.
Francois was an amazing QB when healthy, and that he wasn't, poor kid.
i love alabama
WE ALL DO! ROLL TIDE
Michael Blanchard
Me too!
Florida State hasn’t been right since this game lol
If only FSU had a good QB with this team, excellent defense solid offense only a good QB was missing.
He didn't get injured until there were less than six minutes left in the game. Florida State was already trailing 7-24 at that point.
@@ballsballsballs3617 yeah…no. The game was out of reach when he went down.
@@ballsballsballs3617 you realize the score was 24-7 when he went down ?
@@ballsballsballs3617are you retarded?
@@ballsballsballs3617dude had 200 yards and 1 touchdown and 2 picks when get hurt with 5 minutes to go. They were also losing by 3 scores. lol clown
Florida state thought they were gonna be so good and they sucked! Roll tide!
What people see in Jalen hurts his horrendous...
i see a MVP caliber qb
Bama could have easily lost this game. But yet again the passing was terrible
Alabama and Mississippi
That no call before the half changed momentum big time. Maybe we can get a rematch in January lol
Ugly win. We lost two heavy hitters for a year, and FSU (for whom I bear no real malice) lost their QB and probably their shot at the natty as a result.
I dislike FSU, but still hated to see Francois go down. He's got real guts, toughing it out with such an incompetent offensive line.
I agree, the win was ugly. Lots of room for improvement, especially offensively, but there were some positives too - defense played well, special teams (aside from FG kicking) was excellent, almost no penalties. The losses in the linebacking corps are disheartening, but hopefully some of the other guys can step up to fill those holes.
You sound bitter and angry.
Neither of us said anything to give that implication.
I think we've got the depth of bench to do so. A big, big worry I have is in our kicking game.
Only at Alabama can fans whine about a 24-7 win over Florida State in week one. FSU has a defense with elite athletes with great speed. The team is nowhere close to a finished product and there is still capable talent waiting to take the place of the injured players. Alabama should be undefeated going into the Ole Miss game and plenty of the younger players will get experience between now and then. The schedule sets up favorably and the offense still has a ton of upside assuming Hurts progresses.
What people saw in Jalen Hurts, I’ll never understand
I think they went with Jalen as the starter for 2017 season bc of his experience he was a starter basically the whole year in 2016 and reached the national championship game. Now if Hurts and Tua was both freshmen basically the same year then I think saban would have gone with Tua
HE SUCKED.
He is a phenomenal athlete, has great character, and is a strong leader. He just needed to work on his passing more which he has done over the years and is significantly better now at passing then he was back then. Even in the SEC championship when he came in for Tua he looked better already but at that point he wasn't going to win the spot back from Tua no matter what.
now you understand?
hi
ROLLTIDE
Bill was a joke of a coordinator
The Noles were defeated by Bama. Goodbye Jumbo frustrated horrible wife. Have fun a&m
Jimbo had fun in 2021 at A&M you wanna guess why?
Amazing how disrespectful fsu fans are. Could not find any after the game. No Shit. One FSU clown bet me the Criminals would win by 21. Left the stands 3 minutes before the game was over. Said he had to go to pee pee. His girlfriend was looking for his candy ass as he failed to come back. We took her to her hotel and laughed the entire way.
Well, here’s one in the comments. Alabama, was, and still is, the better team. We had a shot but stupid mistakes on special teams killed us. So, 3 years later, good game.
@@ogp3321 good game!
Was sitting next to 4 FSU students and they were all about verbal abuse until Alabama put their QB out of the game. The 4 cowards got up and left. I made them. Just me.
Huh?

They hurt our qb on purpose or else
Fsu would win
He was hurt after he threw 160 interceptions😂😂
