They really needed to have someone with more credentials to interview John Sweeney; she kept interrupting him during important points he was trying to make with (what seemed like) pre-planned questions that had nothing to do with what he was talking about. John Sweeney has gone head to head with Putin before, she needs to chill out and listen to his expertise instead of interrupting. So tired of this untrained school of reporting.

He is such a rich monster yet Money cannot satisfied him only blood letting will make him salivating for more. Boris Yeltsin called Putin "reddish" using a term that encompasses several things to people with a Russian cultural understanding. Putin's latest term and his isolation had become his own echo chamber of paranoia. Each day he has to check to make sure his power is as strong as the day before, abs each day think of ways to act preemptively.
Russia is an orc wrestling a crocodile which is Ukraine.
Putin is scared to death of the Russian public having freedom of information and seeing his pretense for invasion was faked and stage ahead of time, scared to death of the people in the cities who manage to avoid conscription actuality getting pissed off (so Putin has to relegate himself to the country bumpkins many who still don't even have indoor toilet plumbing), not omnipotent as he wants to make people believe, and a violent self-promoting lame duck in office illegally in violation of the Russian constitution.

It seems blindingly obvious to me that the way you deal with a bully is to not back down or demonstrate any fear. The people who understand Russia best, the Balts, Poles, as well as Ukrainians, seem to grasp this instinctively, and are far less afraid than we seem to be, despite being at objectively greater risk.
The sooner we get Ukraine the weapons they need to win this decisively, the better it will be for everyone.
And no, I don't believe that people who love their wealth and luxurious lives as much as the Russian leadership are prepared to turn the world into a nuclear wasteland because they're not allowed to take something that they've lived without for 30+ years.

If you were dealing with a bully in real life, if you were told to not back down or demonstrate fear it would be ridiculously bad advice actually. I have dealt with countless bullying complaints as a manager, and it is not ever straightforward, it always needs investigation, never blanket assumptions based on incomplete information. I don't think that John is qualified to be giving this analysis. Also, factually, Russia says that it is defending ethnic russians in Ukraine who were bullied for eight years, and I think this is the key issue to be discussed, how to help civilians in Ukraine whether ethnically Ukrainian or Russian, not try to be an armchair psychiatrist about world leaders.

If you are russian and live in russia, you and your people will solve your problems by your own, if you have it. But don't ever think that these people are your friends. With these words you spit on your ancestors, and they gave their lives for your existance. Trust me, one day you will understand what I'm talking about. It took me 30 years to understand some things which happened to me and my country, and now I completelly understand what is happening today with Russia. If you are political oponent of Putin it's ok, just try to have a wider picture. Putin is just one episode in Russian history (and God knows why he is here right now), but Russia and Russian nation are great and eternal. Keep them, they are worth that. Your nation gave us so much, despite all the troubles throughout the history, go to a library, take some history books, and learn how to be proud of your legacy. Lets hope his body is becoming as weak as his mind is so that we get rid of him sooner rather than later

@@ninja-gaiden254 USA never attacked the "Middle East" until they attacked us. Vietnam ok, that's messed up and the USA made a big mistake on a false flag. Afghanistan trained, funded and housed the men responsible for the 1993 world trade center bombing, the 1998 US embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania, the 2000 attack on the USS Cole and 9/11. In Iraq we deposed a vile dictator who used chemical weapons on his own people, and were welcomed by the Iraqis as liberators. In Syria we were fighting ISIS who beheaded our aid workers, set fire to pilots in cages and bombed and stabbed western children. We were also trying to prevent Putin and Assad from barrel bombing Syrians and unleashing chemical weapons. As it was, by Trump cutting and running from both Syria and Afghanistan, they've now fallen into Putin's orbit of influence. His warm water port in Syria allows him - in theory - to rival the US navy. When are we going to get over Iraq and wake up to this Kremlin trope that there is somehow some sort of moral equivalence? I don’t think this lady has ever known or spoken to an engineer. Any engineer assigned the task absolutely would’ve designed that facility to withstand sustained shelling/bombing. It’s not only critical infrastructure, but the fact that it also houses extremely radioactive materials means that they went even further than they would have if it had been another type of power plant.
As someone who has spent their entire life around engineers, I can assure you that they don’t believe something can be “over engineered.” Engineers just call that engineering. Now you might get them to admit that their design “exceeded the specs” which they would defend as being absolutely necessary, unless it exceeds the projected budget for the project. It is only at that point that they might be willing to admit that there is some additional margin for cost reduction, but they’re still going to fight any proposed changes every step of the way.
So, in the case of this nuclear facility the question isn’t whether or not they designed that facility to withstand prolonged bombing/shelling. The actual question is what size ordinance did they account for and for how long?

    • @zlauriault

I grew up next to a nuclear power plant and agreed they are built very strong these days, and since the growth of INPO policy has changed a lot, but bombing around a nuclear facility's radiation storage is idiotic and a deliberate effort to trigger people. Putin has made it clear that he doesn't care if he destroys every structure in Ukraine, so long as he can keep hold of the prosperous Donbass and the Black Sea access, and as his fingers are pried off one by one, it will be his disaster.

This guy can say what he wants, but he forgets that Japan unexpectedly attacked the US in 1941 at Pearl Harbor precisely because of the economic sanctions imposed by the American government. No one in the West expected such bold military action. The results were disastrous, the US navy lost almost the entire Pacific fleet in a single day.
Now imagine for a moment what would happen if Russia, precisely because of the sanctions and to avoid a humiliating defeat, decided to implement such an action. It would be a devastating nuclear attack, thanks also to the Sarmat hypersonic missiles with multiple cobalt-60 nuclear heads that give very little warning.
The result of the war between Russia and NATO would be the annihilation of mankind, not only for the powerful explosions, but also above all for the deadly radioactive fallout and the very long nuclear winter.
However, there would be a nasty surprise: Russia would win the war on points because a poor and mistreated nation of only 145 million inhabitants would have taken the satisfaction of annihilating the much richer USA (330 million inhabitants) and the whole of Europe ( 750 million).
If it is true that Putin would be a monster to authorize such an attack, then it is also true that Brandon would have been a huge madman for provoking him to such an extent. But, of course, you Brandon supporters do not imagine that Russia will have the courage to carry out such a surprise military action, just like the Allies in 1941.
With Trump this dangerous current situation would never have happened.

What about their proxy wars across Azerbaijan, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa? Such a peaceful country..

Biden, Zelensky and all EU ministers have as much innocent people's blood on their hands as Putin. Biden and EU support the murder of women and children in Yemen by the Saudi Arabian dictatorship. Do you have any comments on this genocide? It doesn't, because it's being manipulated by the pro-Biden media

That is fragility...instead of accepting the fact that you don't get everything you want, you throw a tantrum...this is the definition of being fragile and child-like

Fragile like a pumped up balloon. His own sense of being important and worth much more than others, is like that of any nasty narcissist. And like everyone of those, he cannot be called out of face truth. His - indeed - fragile ego cannot stand that. To prevent that, he will use false charm and any amount of lies. If they don't work, he will become enraged. This narcissist has a lot of weapons to use, when enraged. So yes, he will destroy everyone and anyone in his entitled way. And yes, if he can't have it, than no one ought to have it. Makes this fragile person among the most dangerous on the planet. Which ought to make him the number 1 target to be blown of this planet. Asap.

I remember the first time I saw Putin on TV, it was over 20 years ago and he had just been appointed President and was walking up steps to commence his role in the Kremlin.
Some deep instinct within me took an instant dislike to him and that instinct has been proved correct.

Sweeny also wrote a book on the Ceasescu regime called _The Life and Evil Times of Nicolae Ceausescu_
I don't know if it's still in print, but it's well worth a read, not least because he interviews some of the main characters in the rise and fall of that particular dictator

You cannot blame one person for a war. Putin alone cannot fight a war, but Russia can.
