Terrific goal,a terrific goal by Trevor Brooking!
Brookings second goal .wow ! Perfect placement .
"And England againt the odds had gone into lead.."
Istenem, legyen még egyszer ilyen !
Mármint, hogy mi legyünk elenük az esélyesek.
What programme are all of these clips taken from, as they all seem to have John motson introducing them and proper graphics
Another vote from a 9 year old me for the ball getting jammed....and trying to 'replicate' it at school for weeks afterwards. Great goal Sir Trevor.
To Brian Rhodes: This would be the classic exercise. The boxy nets today take something away from the game. I've become a better fan of defending, keeping,
and clean-sheets.
Brooking was different class in those days
He certainly was.
I remember this!!!!
The Ball got stuck in the goal thingy when Brooking scored. The newspapers were going on about the Hungarian guy called Kiss..... who was supposed to give England the kiss of death ...lol,
Kees Kist.
136/5000
One of my first memories of football, that ball hanging in the net. I didn't even know where I got this memory from. I was 9 years old.
two of my all time favs
I always felt so proud when Sir Trev played for England. We were privileged to watch him every fortnight at the Boleyn, but this was different class.
Just before the 1980 cup final, Brian Clough said of him ‘He floats like a butterfly ... and stings like one.’
Sir Trev scored the winner that day 😂🤣
Clough, a prize a*rsehole.
no it was he 'tackled like one'..
@@kailashpatel1706 that's not what he was there for. There were other players in the England midfield for that. Brooking was creative right-side midfield.
If you restrict your side to hard men only, who's going to put the crosses in?
@@v00n2000 indeed..but clough was no arsehole but take Gordon Cowans, the Villa playmaker from the early to mid 1980s he could tackle and head, that might be the point Clough was making..
Yeah, had excellent field vision & could find his team-mates as well. He was a great servant 4 the 3 Lions, IMO.
Even more so for West Ham, he spent his entire career with us.
Brooking just needed a header for a perfect hat-trick. He got one with his right, and one with his left, but the chance for the header never came.
Modern one legged players can learn a lot from this. I think if a player is paid millions to play it is not too much to ask that the play can kick with both feet. I could and I was never more than a parks footballer.
two strange goals, the first one he miskicked and fooled the keeper, and the second stuck in the stanchion. I guess he must have been taken off or they'd have let him take the penalty for his hat-trick (which, from a Hungarian POV looked well dodgy).
Brian Moore pure class
Toroshik my fovorite altime player.
I'm dual passport Brit/Hun. This was the match when I realised Hungary's glory days were properly over.
Way before my time, but its still great (even for an Englishman!) to watch that 1953 Hungary team in that Wembley match. I still rate Puskas's goal as one of the greatest of all time (the one where Billy Wright slid in to try and clatter Puskas and teach him a lesson, only for Puskas to drag the ball back and slam it into the net as Wright went skidding off the pitch looking a total idiot) I'd have loved to have seen that side play.
John Barnwell . Managed a few clubs ,notably Wolves in the late 70s. I remember his suggestion to help England win at half time was to substitute Ray Clemence.
Sure it's the late John Bond co commentating.
Brooking nailing the Hungarians with 'the old left foot' (as the man himself would probably have said) lol.
Brooking Stanchion Legend Goal
COYI
im so exited im going to meet trevor brooking tomorrow so am doing some research!
my idols england brooking. ray wilson hungary lazlo kiss
wow the goal from brooking. briljant
Maybe it's just me but it looks to me as if England had far more technically gifted players going forward in this era (or at least they were more able to express themselves). I'm only 20 so I wasn't around, but some of the moves put together in this game are very impressive.
Rooney, for one, undoubtedly has the same kind of ability but it's very rare you see him allowed to use it. Perhaps defences are just too good now!
Yep,,there were better players (this team went to the '82' World cup and did not lose a match and it had players of outstanding calibre, Francis, Robson, Coppell, Mariner, Wilkins..they played five matches in that World cup and did not lose one match, Brazil who also went out at the second round group stage could not match this and that included England smashing the great French team and drawing against Spain, the Host and West Germany, the eventual finalists...throughout that decade England was a top ten international footballing nation...
Seems like yesterday.time gone fast.only 1 tv camera in the stadium ?lol
I recognise Brian Moore as the commentator but who is the other guy? He sounds like Gumby from Monty Python.
John Bond
Bond was also a former West Ham player from their 60’s cup winning teams.
What? Oh. Brilliant.
anyone remember Ray Wilkins goal vs Belgium in Euro,s 1980??? Cant find it anywhere.
Yeah I remember that one, in Turin I think.
Geno!!
What Clough and Peter Taylor would have done with this lot!!!
They could have sold 750,000 tickets for this match. That's how high the demand was.
To Scherben: Was this so? With the ticket prices these days, the attendance desire would have been far less.
Brooking 2.góljára gyermekkorom óta emlékszem,bár az emlékeik szerint vagy 30 méterről lőtte.:)
"neil yoshi" :D the joke of the last century
A great manager would have made a lot more from that excellent crop of England players. Greenwood wasn't hard enough. Clemence was not in Shilton's class though.
England throughout the 1980s had excellent players and squads...they did well in all 3 world cups of that decade (that means '90' as well..The' 82' team had Mariner, Willkins, Samson, Shilton, Robson, Francis, Woodcock and Keegan and Brooking
Cough and Taylor would have been perfect..
,,MagnificentGoal"! #5 player isn't Uarga it's Varga, probably you've seen wrong the name at his back
so please change the letter from U to V
p.s.: a hungarian supporter ;)
HUNGARY 4 LIFE
That was never a penalty. Great tackle I thought.
Dear Darwin and Dan: Your comment was 13 years of yore. In today's game, this could have been a yellow card.
Ez nem volt 11-es. Szabályos szerelés volt...!
Brooking WHUFC
Mindent a maga korában!
That penalty kick was a mistake by the referee just must have been in the wrong angle that was clearly ball BUT england had played a better game and i say as a Hungarian the Brits deserved this win
Sir Trevor ! Never a penalty though.
@vidlivs !
The Stephans-crown was a present from the papst in the year 1000.
How much money have you payed for the crown that belongs to your queens?
If you have such a clean hands, how could you bring all the peoples (indiens, pakistans, aboriginies, philippines,... ) that they give you their land, and all the gold the british peoples could find?
6-3 !!!
Hol van labda Katzirz ?
=)))))))
@junkybabes Eire wasnt a british when there beat England ok
Laszlo Kiss hahahahaha
What's funny? The word Kiss? It means little, one of the most common names in Hungary.
Shouldn't been a penalty, keegan dived who give damm England won.
i was in the stadium with a hungarian silk flag on my back i was 13 years age.fucking referee...!
England is a very gay place to live indeed (in the old-fashioned sense of the word obviously). Thanks for your support.
POLSKA PANY !!!
Hehh... that was not a penalty... clearly the ball... grat reff, nice work... stupid blind dog... England is a strong country, Hungary not, so that was a penalty for England. My question, at a same situation, the reffree give a penalty for us? NOT NOT NOT NOT...
fraud match...
what are talking about. England won it with no help and never cheated like many international teams and their bribing of officials etc.
get over it,
