One of my fav Megadeth songs ... fast parts , slows down to the “distorted figures walk the street” part So Far So Good is such an awesome album

I like this album better than rust in peace actually.

@@AMetalheadsJourney man it’s so hard for me to pick between the first 4 ... all a big part of my youth and all take me back to a particular time ...it seems like SFSGSW was a lot more primal than Rust in Peace and Peace Sells ... those were more polished. Killing and SFSG were a more chaotic .. it seems like SFSG didn’t get as much attention and is sorta forgotten among Peace Sells, Rust and Countdown and the newer ones .. but you have classics like Liar My Darkest Hour, Hook in Mouth... great album. It’s almost like SFSG took the rawness of Killing is My Business ... but now they had several albums of experience so the songs were more advanced.

I totally agree! This album Rocks and for whatever reason it doesn’t get enough recognition. With that being said, even though this time period was very chaotic for Dave and Junior, they still managed to put out a great record!

The first song Dave wrote for Megadeth.

The name of this song was almost megadeth and the band name was almost Fallen Angel

The history of this song is a bit weird because I think he said he wrote this song before joining Metallica in one interview or parts of it. Which seems odd because this sounds more like Megadeth than the Metallica-Dave songs from Kill em all which are more straight forward.

@A Metalhead's Journey ive only ever heard him say he found a political flyer on the greyhound back to California after getting ousted by metallica . The flyer used the word megadeth while talking about nukes which inspired the song . They played it from their first show but didn't appear until the 3rd album . Maybe your thinking of mechanix ( 4 horsemen ) or jump on the fire . those were def written pre metallica

This was the song he wrote in the bus on the way home after James n Lars kicked him out, i read a few places that the first song he wrote before Metallica was a song he wrote while in Panic, that song was none other than Polaris off Rust in Peace, although I've seen a twitter post from Dave saying that Hangar 18, Mechanix, jump in the fire AND Polaris were all reworked songs he had originally written while in Panic

@@WelshBladerDad ive def heard dave hum rust in peace onto a riff tape in ron mcgovneys garage in 82' along with him playing riffs for alot of future megadeth songs
The only riff tape actually as Ron said james and Lars took them all when they moved to San Fran

"I just want to set the world afire"
Red flash clouds choking out the morning sky
They said it'd never come, we knew it was a lie
All forms of life die now, the humans all succumb
Time to kiss your ass goodbye, the end has just begun
Distorted figures walk the street, it's 1999
Weeds once underneath the feet have grown to vines
Bodies melted like a candle, a land without a face
No time to change your fate, no time left, it's too late
The arsenal of Megadeth can't be rid of they said
And if it comes the living will envy the dead
Racing for power and all come in last
    No winning, first stone cast
    This falsehood worldly peace
    Its treaties soon will cease
No one will be left to prove that humans existed
Maybe soon the children will be born open fisted
We all live on one planet and it will all go up in smoke
Too bad they couldn't see this lethal energy
And now the final scene, a global darkening
Dig deep the piles of rubble and ruin
Towering overhead both far and wide
There's unknown tools for World War III
Einstein said, 'We'll use rocks on the other side'
No survivors, set the world afire!
