- Hey, friends! So I’m super excited about today’s lesson on how to shred like Dimebag Darrell! Dimebag was by far my biggest musical influence growing up. He was a one of a kind and a true rockstar. All of these years after his unfortunate passing, he continues to inspire myself as well as countless other up-and-coming shredders! This lesson is one of many that I’ll dedicate to him. I hope that you are able to take something away from this lesson that you can apply to your own song writing. Enjoy!
Cheers! -C

This guy is living proof you can be badass at guitars with fat fingers. I hate when people use that excuse for why they never learned how to play guitar...but I can't say nothing because I got skinny fingers 😂😂
Lmao! I used to have nice skinny fingers when I was younger and first started playing, but all the weight lifting gave me the sausage hands I now possess. Thanks for watching! -Chris
@@chrisriegger you still play better than me lol. And can definitely bench more than me
@@Damyankee1989 lol. You’re too kind, brother! Thank you for the kind words. 💪🏻🤟🏻
I’ve got short stubby fingers. So I can’t always do those big stretches
@@TheKaindemonic78 I used to do stretches with my fingers kinda like doing stretches with all your other muscles...legs,arms etc. I like to think it helped a little for bigger stretches. Or just get really good at tapping or finding easier ways to hit different notes. Sometimes in metal you gotta do them crazy stretches to make it sound a certain way
I am so lucky I saw him play at the Brixston Academy back in 94.
Yes you are very lucky 😊
I got to see them in the late 90's at Nassau Coliseum! So happy I got to see them as well!
I’ll never get to see him cuse I was born in 2009 I wish he was still here 😢
@@danielolson2529 I know how you feel. I wish I was born in the late 1940s so I could have experienced the swinging 60's great guitar bands.
I wish the was too, dude!

The 1st lick is very reminiscent of EVH runs. Cool lick.

Eddie was one of his major influences.
What a simple way to explain this. Great video, man. Thanks.
I’m happy to hear it! I’m glad I could help, my friend. -Chris

This is true, brother!
Underrated channel
Thanks brother! Still pretty new to this whole thing. I appreciate it! -Chris
Wow, definitely great explanation man on these ‘passing notes’ it’s always confused the shit out of me and I’ve been playing since 1984! Glad I found you 🤘🏻
Im happy I could help!
Love that slimed out Solar brother. Thing looks awesome.
Its my first Solar guitar and I'm very happy with it so far!
Great video thanks
Thank you!
DIME.THE ONE AND ONLY.
Yes indeed!
Awesome. I learned all of the 3NPS patterns so ill incorporate this versus staying 100% true to the scales . Many thanks!
I’m happy that you found it useful! Cheers. -Chris
Super helpful man. Just inspired me so much. I've been ripping the natural minor scale most of my life and this is such a cool idea. I am gonna annoy my neighbours with some loud ass dime style ripping!!!!! Thanks man
I'm very happy I could help you with some new ideas! your poor neighbors will hate us both!lol
Subbed for the easy to understand teaching style
Awesome, man! That means a lot! I'm working on it all the time!
you are a great teacher brother, great lesson!
Thank you so much, my friend! I’m glad you found some value in it! -Chris
Nice one! I know the Dime scale and you did it justice. Please do a lesson on your insane picking technique.🤘
hey bother! Thank you! Thanks for the suggestion! I've been away from making videos for a minute...time to get back to it! Thanks for watching! -Cheers
Intro was 🔥
Thank you, brother! 🤟🏻
dang I do alot of these patterns I still need to learn legato though
Hey brother. I know I did at least one lesson on some legato stuff. I’ll get some more out there soon! Cheers. -Chris
The first lick try it diagonally. So. E string 11..12..15. A string 12..13..16.D string 13..14..17 and so on.
Very cool, man! The possibilities are endless. Thanks! -Chris
very good guitar, here in argentina they are very expensive.
That is a Solar you by them of the web site only.
Thank you, my friend! hope you get an even better one some day!
What is that song on 9:00 ?
The song is from a band I was in a few years ago . The song is called “Deceit”. The band was called “Halo to Havoc”. 👍🏻
Step 1: Be holding a guitar about 69% of your waking life for 25 years
Lmao! That doesn’t hurt either…
@@chrisriegger Dime is the metal Goat. I'm daring myself to learn his music again. I learned his Planet Caravan, Walk and other riffs when I was a kid. I am challenging myself to learn a whole song. Great video!
That’s awesome, brother! It’s always good to challenge yourself! Have fun with it and thank you! -Chris
Why is the guitar small? Jk. Good video
Is that a fat joke??? lol. Thanks brother. 🤟🏻
