I was really, REALLY looking forward to this upload.. 😊 Peristeria elata is on the top of my orchid wish list! I read somewhere that the mottling on the older leaves is normal and saw a video from one grower in Panama that said the same thing. Could you please share the medium you use? That Stanhopea is gorgeous, by the way ❤
Good to hear about the older leaves! thank you for the info! :) the medium is mostly sphagnum moss with extra stuff like charcoal and bark. Go get yourself a Peristeria elata LOL! Thank you about the Stanhopea. That fragrance is amazing too....
Such a delight to see your Peristeria elata in flower. Mine is flowering as well. Thanks for stating that it is a sequential bloomer. I had forgotten that. Your Stanhopea ecornta is very pretty. Thanks for sharing these in your video.
@@orchidhouse Olivier, My Peristeria flowered for the first time for me this year. It was beautiful.......taller than my husband who is 5'10. I am ready to repot this plant. Would you please share any advice that you have for this? I have received a bag of a terrestrial potting mix for orchids. Additionally, I can mix the large Orchiata bark, sphagnum, lava rock in if you suggest that as well. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
@@patsfreund9164 They are tall!!! You should only repot if it really needs it (pot full) and especially only when it grows new roots which should be no earlier than May (so you should hold off at least 6 months). As to the medium, I don't think it is that critical. The terrestrial mix with large orchiata bark added should work.
@@orchidhouse Olivier, Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I have the supplies on hand, but will wait until May to repot this beautiful orchid. Appreciate that you are a local who can answer my questions. Enjoy your day.
Thanks so much for sharing your gorgeous Peristeria elata! Those blooms are magnificent!
Very nice!
Beautiful blooms, how lucky are you to have a division from a wild orchid from Panama, it is a treasure!
I truly am. That is indeed special!
