That night, I slept in her bed. I woke up to a light coming from the kitchen and no mom. I completely lost my shit. She had just gotten up to check her phone but to this day, she says she’s never seen me so upset. F this movie.

Unfortunately, my teachers version was scrapped in its entirety by the higher ups at Disney. This version of the script according to my teacher was alot better and more complex. Which is a great subject and I wish more movies would explore it because both adults and children should understand that. Now there are some animated movies that are a lot worse and have done better in the box office then Mars needs moms. So at the end of the day, I blame Disney for this movie's failure. i dont think this movie was actively trying to push a "traditional" way of life on people, i think it was more saying that the family unit (2 parents and child(ren)) is a much more effective, rewarding, and important to people, and are wonderful things to experience, rather than letting a machine, or someone else with their own agenda and morals, raise YOUR child(ren), and how losing one or both of those family units can hurt a child, and affect them later in life, as we see with Gribble

    It's a 2011 film, all of the "problematic undertones" that might be gleemed from it are just product of its time, everything that the film "secretly implies" and "tries to say" is literally just the way things were at that time.
    Like, i remember watching it when it came out and i saw nothing wrong with the whole "you need a man and a woman to raise a child" because that's just how everyone thought at that time and trying to imply that those were undertones and implications is just disingenuous, since at the time sexuality wasn't a discussion so same sex marriage was considered "weird".
    Now does that mean that the film thinks all women should be housewives and marry a man who does all the work? No, of course not, that'd be idiotic, they are simply reflecting how society was in the past, even if their beliefs were different they couldn't just make a film that considers same sex as something common because THAT would have been idiotic and probably not as well received .... in 2011. (or whenever they even started production)
    Tl;dr: the film reflects what everyone thought at the time, all implications are just our more progressive mind now looking back at the film and scoffing at what we now consider normal that they didn't in 2011. (A literal DECADE ago.)
    anyways no hate, much love, nice vid, also the bird is my new fav character.

    • @SombreroPharoah
      @SombreroPharoah 2 года назад +1

      It really wasn't homophobic man. Even being lgbt myself, it'd be kind of mad to suggest Mens/Ladies isn't the 'norm' as in standard, most common denominator. That's to say that now too, let alone then. I mean even our Penguin brethren adopt babies from elsewhere. Kind of how things work. That isn't (shouldn't be) something controversial. If anything I think it makes us kinda perfect. Means we can fill gaps in nature and help the diddly ones who otherwise may not. Blessing for 2 (well 3 but ya know) souls at once. Reality isn't controversy Imo.
