Of all the packout/tools content I have seen (countless hours), you have been the only one to address the corrosion for these tools. Just came up with the idea to add moisture absorbent packs to my packout drawers. Thank you!
I bought one specifically to use like you are when I crawl in crawlspaces for a decent amount of work. Keeps my tools clean while I’m crawling and I can just hose off/wipe down the Packout. Better than getting mud on your Veto. I also use one to store all my drywall knives, 12”pan, rasp, and other drywall type tools. Nice video my friend 👍
@@dangallagher6975 I don’t have one handy, but I may do a video of it. I’ve had some people ask me what tools I use for Drywall… so I may just knock out both questions in one
I love the size and shape of the compact box but I’ve not yet figured out the best way to use it. This is a great video. I would love to see how others are using their compact boxes, but most RUclips videos simply talk about its dimensions and don’t share how they actually end up using it.
I agree. It helps to see how the box can be used and Milwaukee could help with that too. The more they do that, the more they will sell. Thanks for watching and the feedback!
I use one with the dividers and stand my tools up in them and separate drivers, pliers, putty knives, testers and I don't have to worry about water getting in. you can lay tubes of caulk across the top as well. Also have one of my small electricians pouch like you that I can just pull out. Deep enough to hold big tools standing up and one of Milwaukee short hammers as well. Don't mind putting tubes and bottles of sticky in one of the little compartments without another tool puncturing the tubes. I am thinking of taking one of those 5 gal bucket organizers that I use to use and screwing around the inside for tool storage. I think this is one of their best and most versatile boxes and it makes a great seat!
I agree. Milwaukee could develop this box out with new versions and really make it indispensable. I had the same thought about a bucket organizer. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching! 👍
I bought one of these to put in my m18 inflator and my m12 stubby impact so I could have it in my trunk but the inflator fits in a bit awkwardly and takes up a lot of space so the tray doesn’t fit. I just ended up using the large packout toolbox for that and threw in a few more things to make it my car emergency kit. I’m thinking on using this specific box for my batteries sort of like a small charge station. I’ve seen people mount a charger to the lid and I like that idea. The packout cooler that is the same size as this one is great because of the size as well! Great video as always man!
I bought this bag to put my M18 Inflator in my truck: amzn.to/3weQe65 So far, it's worked great. Yes, mounting an M18 charger is another option with the Milwaukee compact tool box, I neglected to mention that in the video. Thanks for the feedback!
Why not rivet a bucket organizer to the inside like I use to do with the husky tech bag and thoes useless dual laptop sleeves(who has 2 laptops?). Cut them down as needed lighter or hot glue the rough edges you cut. The 5gallon bucket organizer trick works for any useless pouch or laptop slot even veto bags.
Now that is a bloody good idea.i have the self same veto tool pouch and it stays hung up in my van, which is not good regarding corrosion. cheers for that. I,m quite excited now. God I need to get out more!
Cool idea I've seen done with these for hand tools is adhering together sections of thin wall tubing or conduit to form a 'grid' of slots. 3/4 or 1" should be wide enough ID that you can fit even the chunkier pliers handles easily. Smaller tubes for screwdrivers and the like... Should be able to fit dozens of tools in there and the tubes will keep them in place, vertical, and well-spaced for good retrievability. You can do the entire box and just store tools, leave room inside for a TP/MP-style tool pouch (or hang it on the outside) keep essentials in the pouch and then add what you need for the task at hand... Leave a slot along the side for those few 12" tools that don't fit upright... Make the attachment to the box solid but non-permanent (VHB, maybe?), and you can change your mind down the line.
This box would be great for those who RV, or live in their campers. Is big enough t0 hold the larger tools, it’s small enough to go into smaller storage place and it’s rigid enough to pack gear around and on it. Esp with the pack out parts trays. Thanks for sharing.
I bought 4 x Wera 2go Quivers and put them inside for vertical storage. They aren’t cheap but there are not many options available. You can fit so many tools in, all stood up and organised.
I just checked them out, that's a great idea. You're right they are not cheap, but that does match the idea of what I'm going for. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@projectpinehills just before Christmas I was caught out in the rain with my velocity tool bag. My tools got soaked and all flash rusted. This was the best idea I could come up with. I had been looking for a top opening tool bag with enough vertical storage but most seem to a bucket style or tote. I also cut the straps off the quivers so they don’t get in the way. It’s a great set up!
I was thinking of making it a sort of waterproof Veto Tech OT LC. 3D Print a box to go down the middle, put hook and loop on either side. Then you could put V Swap panels on both sides for organization. A Tech OT LC Packout!
That is a great idea! Putting velcro/hook & loop on the sides of the box to put Veto V Swap in is a great idea. you could adapt any Veto panel to the Milwaukee PACKOUT Compact Tool Box. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching!
I hemmed and hawwed for months before getting these type boxes having been spoiled by Veto products. That vertically indexed storage is just too good. Ended up with the drawer units, the ammo can box and the roller tote. I added some vertical indexing by fastening some tool panels made by Diamondback (they were 50% off) and now it’s an acceptable storage solution.
Thanks for the feedback, that’s a good idea. I’ve also picked up some of the drawer units and I got the dolly recently. We’ll see how it works out. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
I have a few they hold a decent bit for quick apartment work. Bottom of mine has a m12 fuel saw, now barrel grip m12 fuel, 3 batteries (2x 5ah ho and 2x 2.5ah ho) and on top a m12 ossilating tool in the tray with blade accessories. This lives on top of my shallow organizers for screws and electrical. I ended up getting a packout backpack and the new packout structured tool bag dirt cheap but integrating everything to packout didn't work out. Sadly i went back to my veto mct and velocity rogue bag(yes it was expensiveto import to the us). The tool box and organizers stayed and are used in non heavy duty applications like apartment maintenence fyi try the packout moving dolly it's the best wat to move your packout even stacked with drawers plus you can use it for other things unstained. Hope thus helps
I have the dolly and it really makes the whole packout system. I’m, curious, why didn’t the Milwaukee structured bag work out? Thanks for the feedback and for watching! 👍
Bigger than the mct closer to the xl and held less tools than the mct mostly. The thought of locking your organizer to the bottom of your tool bag sounds good in theory but makes a heavy bag almost unbearable along with simply being able to set the mct in the crate or bottom of the moving dolly and not have it move takes away the advantage that it had. Good in thought not that useful in real life
I had, maybe 3 pairs of those red grip Klein side cutters you grabbed for a second out from the Veto over 15 years ago. Are those still available to purchase new? I don’t see those at Home Depot or Electrical Supply.
Yes they are still available, model HD213-9NE here: amzn.to/3ehx2vU and they have a pair that are hardened for ACSR, model HD2000-9NE here: amzn.to/3vEgUNm. Thanks for the question and for watching!
That’s right, it appears they copied the Veto MC and LC bags. I’ve looked at those. You can also put packout cleats on the Veto bags. Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍
