    You may want to change the description on the top page saying "effective 2014 these trains will begin service as light rail cars starting with LAMATA in Lagos , Nigeria ". Because they will likely be around for another year or so.

    The TTC's H6 subway cars will remain in service until at least 2014.

    So what I heard from a TTC operator, is that the old H5 subways will be converted into passenger coach cars removing the motors and the conductor cabs in each car and will be pulled/pushed by a diesel locomotive when they are sent to Nigeria, as for the old H6 subways, they will retain the conductors cabs in each car, is that true?

    There seems to be a lot of confusion with terminology here. Everyone is calling the new Lagos project light rail but if it's using these trains it's clearly not light but heavy rail. This is a good thing in my opinion since while heavy rail is more expensive to build and operate and less flexible it's faster and capable of carrying far more people and that is what crowded congested Lagos very much needs.

    UPDATE: However the Lagos deal was cancelled and instead, these trains are being sold for scrap instead of going to Nigeria.

      +SuperWorldFan7000 Lagos light rail train with metro stations such as London Underground, or Wilhelminaplein (Rotterdam Metro), or Szent Gellèrt tèr (Budapest Metro), or Olaias (Lisbon Metro), or Arts et mètiers (Mètro de Paris), or Formosa Boulevard Station, or Kiyevskaya (Moscow Metro), or Solna Station, or Art Station of the Naples Metro

      Should have been brought back to Toronto if deal was cancelled and used as spares or resold to somewhere else rather than going to the scrap yard.

    @tech4156 The rail will generate it's own power and run 24/7 plus the government is working on providing 24/7 power across the state of lagos as well as nigeria as a whole. Not to mention the new city EKO atlantic will have it's own sewage system and power grid to ensure 24 hour high end service in the future. Nigeria obviously has it's problems but it's nowhere near as bad it was in the past. Better leadership has great benefited that country the last decade.

  • @AlexRampaul

    So this means is that all Bloor-Danforth line trains will run entirely as the T1's.

  • @AfricanThinker86
    @AfricanThinker86 13 лет назад +1

    @tech4156 I don't mean like that I mean it has it's own power source

  • @AlexR1821
    @AlexR1821 12 лет назад

    @Em1n3mFANn2 The H5's will all be gone very soon on the YUS line, so you should make the best of it if you see one, as for the H6's they should still be around for another 2 years or so, they will retire probably around 2014 when the new streetcars start entering revenue service.

  • @AlexRampaul
    @AlexRampaul 12 лет назад

    @TTCOrionVII8100 The new line will be using new streetcars is that true?

    I don't understand if Lagos is trying to run heavy rail like what's pictured above or if they are really going with light rail but either way I hope they carry it out. If any place ever needed it to relieve congestion and too much traffic they certainly do. Hope their power problems don't hinder it. I guess the lack of coal in West African countries really hurts their power production and they aren't nearly advanced enough for nuclear power. Hydroelectric alone is just not enough.

  • @AfricanThinker86
    @AfricanThinker86 13 лет назад +4

    @tech4156 Listen I'm not nigerian I've just been a bit interested in the country recently and most other west african countries thats all. I would gladly appreciate some more knowledge about the culture, people and countries if you wouldn't mind teaching me. I agree infrastructure there still needs improvement no doubt. And I was never arguing with you. Are you nigerian or black african?

    This will be a bigger shame for commuters, when the Mark Is is gone there will be no more Scarborough RT service, the entire line will be closed down for good.

    @TTCOrionVII8100 What is the Mark Is?

  • @gacaptain
    @gacaptain 13 лет назад

    What? That can't be right. How in the world are they going to convert the heavy rail subway cars and train pictured in the video above into a light rail system? That's impossible. The track gauge is going to be too small on a light rail system first of all. The person that posted this must have some kind of misunderstanding.
