4'37" - Playing back a mix in mono is not the same as listening to the mid-channel of mid-side only. When mono'ing, the side channel is folded down to mono. You may get some phase cancelling which may result in some audio being dropped, but not all will be dropped. So it's just a mono representation of a mix, instead of solo'ing the mid-part.
Mhhh I would just say something that I'm confident about but not sure ! Please correct me if I'm wrong. But Mono when checking for Mono compatibility (using the mono on utility for exemple) That would make you listen to L+R : thing that you want because Mono sound systems works like this. But when you turning the M/S knob and only listening to the MID : That would actually makes you listen to what is comon to both L and R. Wich is completely diferent than the mono L+R

I came to comment the same thing. For mono compatibility check you need to listen to both mid and side folded down to mono, not just the mid channel.
